Hallo E-wrecked,
shure i have try this one and all DNA Driver i found.
First i have a problem with all Driver and the Control Center after i shut down the UAC (Mobbilty Modder need this for working) and enable it again. I found this bug 1h ago.. if i enable UAC again all Driver including the orginal from Alienware don´t working with the CC. So for now my system don´t have UAC on....
Today i try youre driver 2 times. He Disable 1 ATI board, after i install the driver manual it´s working in the Device Manager (System) but if i lock to the catalyst in my task he found 3 ATI boards!
I try to start a game but i become a Message "Direct x is missing"..... i reboot andmy M17 disable one ATI board with the reasone "Driver don´t working" again......and i must do the same steeps like bevor but then can´s start any game....
The same Problem i have with all 8.12 not only with your´e one!
So for now i play with the orginal driver without the Farcry2 fixes... i lost near 2 free days for trying anything with a other driver than the original from Alienware
Sorry for my not perfect English

Do not turn on UAC, it will make you and your computer go crazy.
Have you tried respawn to original system, and CLEAN uninstall the driver and do it again? Your system should be very messy with tons of install and reinstall drivers, and it's not worth while to solve the problem in an unexpected behavior windows system anymore. -
try this..not sure if it will do anything different.
Open the ch_72276.inf with notepad or a text editor, its located under your support/driver/display/lh... folder - Edit the GPUs to look EXACTLY like this.

Just even up the lines and see if it fixes this three card problem.. -
i have trie youre change in the inf but after this Vista64 can´t find any driver for installing. Thank you for youre time and this Idea but it doesn´t work.

azuma, I apologize that I am unable to help you.. Im not sure if there's a different version due to English vs. what I assume is German. Have you tried simply forcing the install Via Device Manager, using the "Have Disk" method and then pointing it to the exact .inf to load the drivers? That's the only other idea I have.. Oh, do me a favor.. take a screen shot with gpu-z and possibly the GPUs you have use a different vendor/sysid. Can you give me a shot like this one?
Let's try to fix this issue. And, Merry Xmas.

yeah..that's a problem. You're not using my driver ma'an. It shouldnt report a x2 - That must be your old driver. Anyhow, why don't you use the "Have Disk" method and point to MY inf in the folder you extracted my zip to? Just download the zip and run setup.exe or have disk install..
-
I try this bevor e wrecked with your driver this was the Problem with the 3 cards, atm i use the DNA-ATi_Vista_8.11x64. I try to put your driver over it and check the cards again -
Just make sure with have disk method you only update the first GPU in device manager. No need to update the secondary card. That will cause problems.

Look @ this, i use gpu-z to find the different! The left Board is the first Device, the second one the Disabled from Windows

Ok.. Now run setup.exe and let it do it's thing.

Hmm.. This is odd. Haven't had this issue.. Quite possibly that 2nd card isn't in my .inf - "ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3870" = ati2mtag_M88, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9509&SUBSYS_0770152D
Add that to the .inf driver list. Are you using my .zip file that does the full install? I have a feeling you're just using the .inf - or the process isn't being followed entirely, just due to translation issues. Anyhow, Download the Entire Easy install package, and then just run setup.exe and see what happens.
Also, you may want to go to Control Panel, add/remove programs, and Uninstall Microsoft C++ - All of the entries. Then, install the video drivers. -
Yes i only give youre inf Vista. Manuel Install
EDIT: After i add your text to the inf this message was coming. Bevor i uninstall the C++ that i found.

The only thing I can figure is that I am using the English version..not sure if that matters. I'll look into it more later. Try installing the last working driver you used..then upgrade without a clean install of the 8.12 - last ditch effort.
-
curious..obviously the first card installs properly. The 2nd card is having an issue.. Have you tried just removing the driver from the 2nd card? Meaning, just uninstall the 2nd GPUs driver and reboot? It won't/shouldnt install the VGA driver on the 2nd card if you still have the first card setup. Worth a shot..uninstall driver for GPU 2 and reboot.
-
I try this but still the same Problem. I Try to find held in google, i read in some pages there have other people problems with the second card and they fix it after reinstall find the newest mainboard driver specific agp to pci but we don´t agp in the m17i try to install the newest Intel Driver
EDIT: After i install the lastest Chipset Driver it fix the card Problem but only for a little moment. I cant start any game direct X Fault and in the ATI Manager i found 3 cards... after Reboot fault Message from ATi (licke screen other site) and again Problems with 1 card.... maybe some konfiguration in my system is wrong but witch one.... -
Maybe try swapping the cards inside the rig? If you're comfortable with that.
-
-
he means physically exchanging the positions of the two cards. this requires removing heatsinks, and re-applying thermal grease, a process some users may not feel comfortable doing.
-
hehe okay but i have no time to do this atm. The 8.12 Driver is the only one i have this problem i don´t doing this for 1 driver -
I`d like just wish you merry christmas and say that my rig gets 10820 3Dmarks on 8.12 form ATI and 11014 3Dmarks on E-wrecked`s.
I don`t know really if it`s significant difference but still, beer for E-wrecked as soon as he arrives Poland -
i just did everything i was suppose to and in the middle of the installation of the simple install, my screen just goes black...hmmm anybody know whats going on? laptop still running and everything just the screen goes black...
-
it should come back and you should have no problems.. the screen will flash.. that's normal.
-
Did you clean the remaining drivers before attempting to install the new ones ? (safe mode step)
-
yea i did all that and it works fine now just as e-wrecked said. okay now, this is a stupid question but isn't this version suppose to be 8.12? when i go back to device manager, it does say e-wrecked's modded w/tweaks but it says 8.561
-
I have a little problem ... after doing it like you said ...
now it looks like this:
What did I wrong?
Thanks 4 helpAttached Files:

Do you get the same window every time you reboot if you press upload ?
-
nop just rebooted and it's gone ... I'm here to say this by edit xD
Did not expect sb to post so fast
Do I have to worry about it?
Greetings
Julian -
Nah seems everything is fine now theres no reason to worry
Especially if you did a proper uninstall before installing the drivers
-
this could be a reason 4 the turble I have ...
Truble: BF and Crysis (non Warhead) isn't working any more^^
I wasn't quite sure, i did it like it is said hopefully ...
Hope you don't mind if I explain why I am a bit confused^^
1) Open Device Manager and "Remove Old Drivers:
I rightclicked on the first "ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3870 => Properties => Driver => Uninstall
2) Control Panel => "Programs" Uninstall a programs => ATI Catalyst Install Manager => chance
3-4) Reboot in Save Mode: "Check if VGA Graphics adapter properly installed" it did ...
5) Run Driver Sweep, did it twice as you said ... only one file left ...
6) Reboot "Check to see that Standard VGA Driver Appears in Device Manager: As I looked in Device Manager there it said "ATI Driver" I was a bit confuesd ... expectet to see "VGA Driver" ... so i repeaed 3 to 5 and it was still this "ATI Driver" crap^^
so I thought: just go on this is may be the default VGA ... and so did I ...
7) Unziped and Installed "8-12_vista64_dd_ccc_wdm_enu_72276_ewrecked"
8) no problems during the installation
but after rebooting this window (postet above)
Now I played Quake 4 (just finishing the last 3-4 hours^^)
After destroying the NexusI was happy about my running system xD ... but ... than ... I started Crysis and it showed a black screen than closed ... tryed it several times ... but no other result ...
BF2 not better ... when I try to run this ... same problem ... black ... than back on desktop ...
Did I missanderstood one of the 1-7 Points?
Hope you can help me
Greetings
Julian
Edit: I'll retry it ... maybe soon
Edit2: 3DMark06 11.007 Points (1280*720) isn't bad ... -
Dont remember any files left behind after using Driver Sweep.
Usually i do this in fewer steps.
1. Uninstall the ATI drivers using Programs and Features
2. Reboot in save mode and remove everything Driver Sweeper find.
3. Reboot into normal mode
4. Install the drivers and restart.
Everything seemed to work just fine after that.
Btw, there are 2 patches for Crysis, made sure you install those before trying to play the game. They fixed a lot Crossfire/SLI +bugs issues in those versions. -
Is installed ... does it make sence to reinstall them? (BF/Crysis)
Grettings
Julian
Edit: Crysis coudn't be repatched ... maybe I have to reinstall it completly -
Try reinstall Crysis (there are a few people with this problem apparently), see if that helps.
In CCC your Catalyst AI is set to standard ? Try test it with disabled or advanced to see if it makes a difference.
Do you get a black screen as soon as you run the game or after you load a saved game ?
If nothing of those works, back to factory drivers (AW's site) till we figure out the problem
Edit: Ah and try run the game on dx9 (-dx9 in the command line)
And dont use the order i just said ;p first the settings, then the reinstall then the old drivers -
ok
I switched my m17 off ... 7 am @ home ... time to sleep^^ I'll try after some sleep^^
ok first -dx9 ... than CCC Options AI (off ...) than reinstall ... than old drivers
Thank you
Greetings
Julian -
: -dx9 ... nothing better^^
: set AI Dissabled ... nothing better^^
: now 1) -to 7) but with Alienware standart drivers
Than gametest ... than ... be sad xD
Greetings
Julian -
If you see this ... what would you do? retry deinstall or go on?
THX
Greetings

No, there's an issue there. You shouldn't have those little yellow signs next to any properly installed component. However, it looks like your 3DMark scores are on par, so I'm afraid I'm a bit confused.
Here I go, hope this helps.
1. Get a program called Driver Sweeper & install it.
2. Get a program called Mobility Modder & install it.
3. Download the newest 3870 DESKTOP (that's not a typo) drivers from the ATI website.
4. Double click the desktop driver icon (the one you just downloaded in step 3). Pay attention to where the program says it's going to extract the driver contents, or change the location yourself. Once the extraction process is done, the program will ask you to continue. CANCEL OUT AT THIS POINT. You just needed the driver extracted for step 5.
5. Run the Mobility Modder program you installed earlier. Hit 'Browse', and show Mobility Modder to the folder where you extracted the contents in step 4. Hit the 'Modify' button.
6. Mobility Modder will make the driver usable for mobile GPUs.
7. Go to Start Menu/Control Panel/Uninstall a Program. Once you're there, uninstall the ATI stuff (Little red ATI icon). Your screen may revert back to ultra low resolution. This is normal.
8. When it is done uninstalling the ATI stuff, it may or may not ask you to reboot. If it doesn't ask for you, do it manually.
9. HERE'S THE PART MOST PEOPLE DON'T BOTHER TO DO/OR DON'T THINK THEY NEED TO DO!
10. Reboot into SAFE MODE (I think it's F8).
11. While in SAFE MODE, run the Driver Sweeper program. Check ATI Display Drivers, and hit 'Analyze'. It will show you all the junk left over from the uninstall. Hit 'Clean'.
12. Reboot normally.
13. Go to where your ATI driver was extracted and fixed by Mobility Modder, and run the executable.
14. If you get a warning about the driver, tell Vista to install it anyway.
15. Once it's done, if it doesn't ask you to reboot, do it manually.
16. IF UPON REBOOT you get a log in screen that is 1/4 size of the screen, and very dim, MANUALLY REBOOT AGAIN.
17. Upon reboot, check your device manager credentials again. You should be good to go.
Good luck, and I hope this solves your problems. -
Tryed it your way bevor but I hade problems with the BF2 Resolution so I was told to use this special version ...
-.-
Greetings
Julian
Edit: will reinstall Crysis & BF2 ... I should install drivers first than the games xD -
-
installating Crysis right now ... I will patch it bevor I try to run it
Greetings

Julian, you can use any driver you want, most of the instructions will remain the same. If you're using a mobile driver, you won't need to do any of the modding with Mobility Modder.
-
cant wait to get my m15 and get these on there thnx btw for when i get it lol
-
-
Ok thanks ...
I tryed to reinstall nearly everything from the driver to the game and the patches but Crysis doesn't want to work -.-
I'll try to install the AW drivers again ...
How can I be so "silly" to get it not work
Greetings
Julian -
Thats really odd, when do you get the black screen ? As soon as you run the game ?
Did this game ever worked for you ? If yes then when did it stop working ? -
Now it stops befor it realy starts ... I mean ... I start the game ... boom back ... game over^^
Edit: omg ... now I am down^^ even the standart driver doesn't solve the problem ...
did I said that I missed to order the recovery dvd? -.- -
By recovery dvd you mean the Alienspawn ?
Because they usually send a recovery dvd (fresh install of windows).
In my case i formatted it as soon as it arrived
Did you change anything in your system except from the drivers ? -
Get 2 DVD-Rs and burn your own for free and send me 1/2 of the money I saved you.
As requested for M17.. ATI 8.12 Modded w/Full Screen Scaling Enabled
