Hey Shnitz, just install the AW driver.. Then install the mod on top of it without using a clean install. See if that works for ya :)

yea, i've tried the "have disk" option but keep getting a failed driver installation. i'll try a few other a few other things. thx

the drivers is whats failing when installing the whole package. CCC and everything else would install fine, just having problems installing the drivers for some reason. for some odd reason, i think maybe i need to go back to bios and go back to default multipliers and unOC my cpu. i'm going to try that.

E, what u mean. download through alienware.com, then install using setup.exe? are those the same drivers? i actually liked the AW drivers but doesn't register 3dmark06 and 3dmark vantage scores as legit graphics drivers for some reason.

Had some problem with the modded drivers (the ones from ATI). As soon as i got the laptop i tried to update the drivers, kept getting a blue screen when i was trying to uninstall the AW ones. Since im not a very patience guy i formatted it right away and after that the new drivers installed just fine.

I'm sayin install the AW driver.. Then without doing a clean install just run the setup from the modded drivers and install on top of the AW.

Oh man! Even the Alienware guy has no solution! (but he was kind^^)

He said something like: Maybe AW has a newer driver online than that one wich was on my m17 (myHive Version = DL Area Version) ... and this newer driver doesn't support 1280x800  ...

    And he said:
There is no way to reinstall the "deliveringstatus" because you deleted the files ... *helpfull answer*

I am note quite sure, may be I should sent it back (you have 2 weeks or?) ...

    I expected too much ...

what do you guys think of this?
    Greetings

    THX but ...

    the bigest problem is:

I think the porblem is not only the driver ... I think druring my reinstallation of Vista, something went wrong ... and I think if I can not go back to deliveringstatus ... I will never be as happy as I should be after spending 1,8k Euros ... :(

This program would be a solution may be ... but after spending so mutch money... oh man^^

    >.< I am just
I expected a solution from AW wich you do not have to relay on a extra pogram ...

Just format it then ? and reinstall the drivers on your own if you want to make your laptop like the day it came. Since you dont have an Alienrespawn dvd it seems. You should have a dvd that allows you to do a clean install.

I only have Vista DVD and Nero (no extra Driver DVD). I had to download the drivers from the website ...
that's what I did ... and the result was this truble ... I decided to sent it back and order a new (may be with T9400  ) in some day/weeks ...

so I have to say: THANK you and the others for your help! I'll still keep my eays on this forum, I like it and the users too mutch :p to say good bye ;)

i dont understand...so you were having scaling problems with 1280x800, with the drivers you got? before you decided to try to clean reinstall your system why didn't u try e-wrecked's modded 8.12 drivers? isn't that what this thread is all about?

I öhm ... just want to make a joke but nothing comes to my mind so I'll answer seriosly ;)

I did ... several times ... thats why we, maybe only I, think that the problem isn't related @ the driver ... (but where can it be?) ...

Nearly nobody has the 1440x900 display and can tell me if 1280x800 works/worked with wich driver ...

The problem started after the reinstallation of Vista without AlienRespwan ...

... after the "supportguy" toled me that I can never "recover" the deliveringstatus (I have no Recovery DVD and deleted the files on the HDD^^) I realized that the only way to be happy again is to send it back and buy a new m17 ... (if the prices drop may be with a T9400 :) )

Why the hell don't they just say: send it to us we will install Vista again and sent it back ...

    Greetings

But that is what I did?

And because I don't know where I (may be) did a mistake, I'd do it again^^
    Or don't you think so?

All in all I learnd somthing!
    The next time I buy a m17 I'll buy a recovery DVD aswell :D

    I miss my m17 -_-

    Edit: @ Shznittle
I missunderstood you^^ Firs I did a clear installation of Vista than I had the problem ...

thx E-wrecked for that thread. anyways while reading that thread i noticed something with Catalyst Control Center. the dude that made that ATI crossfirex guide mentioned something about a crossfireX tab in CCC which allows you to enable/disable CrossfireX. I dont have that option in my CCC, does anybody else? i'm sure thats a different version of CCC, but i'm still wondering if maybe i'm missing something or if my crossfirex may not be enabled for some reason idk.

I believe that the tab only exists on desktop rigs.. Then again, the .inf is set to automatically enable crossfire. Possibly if that's removed, then it would allow you to manually control it. It should be easy to tell if crossfire is enabled. Look at your 3dmark score :p and there is also an option where you can enable the Crossfire logo to be displayed when running in crossfire..it overlays the screen in the top right when 3d performance is in use. Right click the CCC tab and you can enable it..

    Hi

Would someone be so nice and post for me the link to latest E-wrecks Vista 32 bit lazy version of 8.12 driver, pretty please with cherry on top.

This thread is quite big, with so many drivers posted that I am getting confused which one is where.

    Thanks in advance.

Thats odd. Im assuming that guy has 3870's since these drivers dont support anything else.

He should be getting 6k+ with whatever drivers he was using.

    WoW!

This is why I wanted to test Vantage ... I thougt that the driver will bring the power out of the card @ DX10 Games/Benchmarks ...

If Vantage woudn't be so crap (I mean you nearly have to buy it to use it seriosly) nobody would use or care about 3DMark06^^

So one more time! Great work! (If I recive my m17 I'll but my Desktop TFT 1280x1024 on it and try Vantage with youre drivers ... but ... when I have it again ... maybe the new drivers are avalible

Thank you I appreciate that :p
The first thing I'll do on my new m17 ... run 3DMark ... than Vantage ... then install youre drivers ... and run 3D & Vantage again

If every thing is ok 3DMark should automaticly sellect 1280x800 (still have the 1440x900 Dispaly ;) )?

Whene I install your driver I have (because of my Display) to use your "special" file or not?

    E-wrecked 1280x800 driver @ 1440x900 Display
And this "Have disk method ... I don't know what this is ... Is it possible to do it yust like on page 1? Mobilemodder and than coppy it into the ATI directory?

I am not quite sure but I think! Or I shoud better say ... I know xD that I played Crysis Warhead @ 1280x800 on my m17 ...

I mean if it doesn't support this resolution ... wouldn't have the supportguy told me this? Is nobody out there with the 1440x900 display? And why shouldn't this display support any 16x10 reslution? It even shows black bars @ 1280x720

Oh man ... I am confused

Just wanted to add my positive experience because some people seem to be having trouble with these drivers.

Everything works 100%. I printed off the instructions and checked them one by one to make sure I was doing them right and the only variation I had was on step one. I did it exactly like the how-to said "do not use device manager to also remove driver related software". Despite what the instructions said when I rebooted it would still say ATI drivers. So I decided to allow the device manager handle the software removal as well, plus use drive sweeper, and only then was I able to reboot in safe mode and get the slandered VGA adaptor under display. Not to sure how consistent my findings would be because I did reboot and re-check several times.

As for the next step... Once the uninstall was complete and I was going on to the fresh install of the mod drivers, I used the zip package to make it easy, the screen would flicker on and off like it usually does when you install a new display driver. But for some reason half way through the install the screen stayed off. The HD light was still going so I new it was still at work and left it alone until it settled, maybe 5-10 minutes. It was still off so I did a hard reset. Once back in vista everything was installed fine and worked perfect.

Oh yeah, I also had to run drive sweeper as admin or it would crash.

    Great job!

He E-wrecked when you did your 3dmark06 bench did you use your drivers?

Your driver version on orb is... 8.541.0.0
Mine, with your drivers, is... 8.561.0.0

With my configuration (check sig) and your drivers I scored 13000 on the virtual test. I will get the 06 whenever I'm not too busy playing Farcry 2.
