Alright, I used the mob mod to mod my own 9.4's and it's working fine. Although I don't have any of the fancy add ons E-Wrecked throws in, at least I'm running the latest and greatest from ATi! :) thanks guys!

Are you running W7 or Vista because I haven't been able to fix the "fullscreen resolutions problem" on W7.

I tried to simply mod the 9.4 driver to install E-wrecked's drivers.

Is there someone who succeeded in making 9.4 works on W7 for any screen resolutions??

What is your broblem? I use 9.4 on W7 but I don't have scalingproblemes ... I guess you have the full HD screen?

No I'm running Vista 32bit. I haven't had any issues so far. In fact the 9.4's improve performance by leaps over 9.1! Before when playing Far Cry 2 maxed out in dx10 mode I got terrible lag, now it's running smooth as silk.

I've got the 1440x900 screen btw. Good luck!

I experenced the same with Crysis, not the fps rate increased but "who smooth" it is, I mean, you get a realy fluently feeling.

    Hi,

    I currently use W7 Build7048 X64 and a 1920x1200 resolution screen.

My problem is that every time I try to reduce my resolution (in games or even on windows) the picture does not stretch to my screen.

Is someone got the same issue?

I tried different drivers and methods without any success.

PS: On vista I made it work with E-wrecked's drivers.

Maybe if E could tell us what he did when he modded the other drivers, then we could do the same if needed.

Thanks E-Wrecked, if you get around to it.

I guess with the "big screen" there is still this scaling issu ... this is a usual issu^^ I have the 1440x900 screen and all resolutions scale well.

    Hi

I have tried almoust all drivers for W7 that are out there and all have the so-called 'scaling issue' on 1920x1200 screen.

For me the best so far are 9.3/9.4. Similar in performance, with OpenGL games finally playable under W7.

    Cheers

    Luke

Yea.. Not sure what the deal is with Win7 - I toyed briefly when I had the ocZ. I know the Win7 drivers which windows auto updates don't scale. I thought my modded ones did. Make sure fullscreen is enabled in CCC. Also check display settings in Control panel and make sure it's enabled(if possible). Otherwise, that may have been why I never used it for gaming :)

It's a win7 specific issue I suppose. If someone figures it out please let us know.

Thimk, if the 9.3 CCC wont install after installing the 9.3 drivers, try 9.1 CCC. It worked for me.

    1. Thank you for such a kickass post with all this info and all that work very grateful.

    2. I will NEVER EVER again buy ANYTHING ATI if a 3rd party has to hack a freaking driver fix when they won't fix it themselfs this is bull. Never had issues with Nvidia on my M15x and this crossfire bull scaling issue was a major off.

Hey, I just installed win 7 64 bit build 7100. Its the RC version. I tried out your vists/win7 package, but it tells me that the driver is not digitally signed. The setup wont even install it. I have to manually install the drivers and they fail to install because of driver signing every time, I have gone through your steps 3 times now and all i can use is the default drivers from alienware. And even then, crossfire doesnt work. one of the cards has a (code 10) error in device manager. Any help with this matter would be most appreciated, thanks!

The 9.7s aren't officially out yet. I'm pretty sure you could mod them though. If you're at all worried, stick with the 9.6 :)

You shouldn't need to mobmod those drivers, simply install them. Or are you trying to mod them to do something else like scale properly?

But strangely wen i mod it it still dosent install the CCC ore even the VGA drivers ... i think the modder is not working 100 % on windows 7 ... if some one cold mod this for me i wold highly appreciate it very much.... bguards m8's

I think the modding has no effect on the scaling issu, but you are right, on W7 you don't need to mobmod because the mobile version are allready supported ;)

9.3 isn't really a great driver so you can skip it. it's like 9.2, it makes the gpu less dependent from the cpu but it doesn't do a great job at it.

I just upgraded to win 7 x64 build 6400 rtm. And for some reason, none of the packages are intalling correctly. They worked before, but not now. Is this something normal? Are we waiting for a new package from "E" that supports the RTM?

    Got my :D MiniCooperS :D ;)
But I am still missing the old times xD

As I opened my m17 to take a look inside I realiced, that as long as the warenty is on, I'll not do more than testing different drivers

To be honest, I lost a bit of my fun on tweeking my m17 ... :(

It's working (untill today xD) and that's all I need.
I also rewived my RC hobby, flying my old planes and helicopters :D because no I can carry them to the RC airport by myself ;)

But what's up with you? Everything fine?

Black bars on the left and right yeah; proper scaling 1:1, I hate it when I 4:3 gets stretched to 16:10.

I've got preserve aspect ratios set in CCC and stuff like 720p SF4 benchmark also scales correctly; with thin black bars at the top and bottom rather than sides.

Hm ... nice to hear ... but hm ... now I am confused :p

I guess it's the Alienware driver ... ok ähm oh ... with AW drivers we never had a scaling issu right?

Haha, not a clue, I barely used them. Im on mobility modded 9.8s atm. I occasionally use centered scaling mode for all round bars and 1:1 pixel mapping, but preserve aspect ratio seems to be the best compromise. I think the default settings are sometimes full screen (stretch to fill screen, without thought for aspect ratios)
