-
@myxcon: I got the same message from yesterday till now.
-
I see you mentioned that you updated graphics - which driver are you using?
This one?
Note: You do not need to flash the VBIOS to install the new drivers but you may have issues with sleep/resume etc. Read the full thread for more info. -
Also, Beta keys are available again, just got mine.
http://entry.ffxiv.com/
You need a Square Enix ID and your regional settings set to issue a key. Good Luck. -
has anyone picked a world yet?
-
By the way, the game is working with CrossFire, how good, i don't know yet, but the ATI Crossfire Logo is atleast displayed
Also we do not need a world only, we might want to start in the same city, as there are 3 cities to chose from. -
Wow this game blows.I played fro 5 minutes and the cpu got to 99 deg. They really screwed the pooch on this one. I guess Japanese people like crappy games that fry your pc.edit..Played for 30min never got above 90 again.
-
You never played wow on a patch day? cmon man give it a chance -
-
I too am looking forward to lucasarts new mmo adventure. -
Yeah, at the beginning with all those cutscenes my laptop heated up quite a bit and the fans were on full rpm. But after playing the intro and the first leve, it stabilized in the middle, and cooled down again a bit.
Started in Gridania as a lalafell druid /conj , nice intro by the way, nothing special but funnier than the limsa lominsa intro with the bommelguys (you know which ones, don't want to spoil too much) -
I was thinking FFXIV would be a good time sink until SW:TOR.
It's a pretty game but I'm not yet sure if it's for me as the control scheme and some design elements are a departure from what I'm used to.
Unfortunately <ALT>+<TAB> back to desktop gave me a DirectX error message and black screens the game (can be ended via Task Manager) and there has been one random crashe during gameplay as well.
Regardless, ~2 weeks to trial/beta test it so we'll see how it goes. -
Hey, I'm also getting the "FINAL FANTASY XIV Beta Version has stopped working" problem, I'm running an M17x-R2, with dual crossfire, ati radeon 5870 graphics cards, I downloaded the most recent drivers, tried run as admin, tried compatibility modes and then even followed this forum and downloaded the A07 Bios thing.
At every step I've tried running the beta and no change has happened. I'm not amazing when it comes to these issues but I've tried everything stated so far. Anyone have any more suggestions?
It's very frustrating having spent 4 grand on a laptop and it can't even run a game -.-
Did you do anything else special Grimfan? Your computers specs are about the same as mine, except I have 8GB of ddr3 ram, but your game seems to be running and mine isn't lol -
Having no problems so far, make sure you have the latest drivers 10.8 ati or dells 10.8 beta drivers 8.763 and catalyst profiles if you use ati cards. It's much smoother than in Closed Beta imo.
If you get any error message, i'm sure it's because you are not on 8.74x ++ You should check that in device manager or in catalyst command center. -
I updated my ati drivers on ati's website to the "newest drivers" , and my catalyst control center shows this
You wouldn't happen to have a link to the "dells 10.8 beta drivers 8.763 and catalyst profiles" since I used ati's website's drivers and that's apparently not working lol... -
You can't install any catalyst without the workaround install method described all over the net for subvendor ati cards (like dell aswell).
But give the Beta Drivers a try,
http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...r2-driver-amd-5870-vbios-read-post-1-2-a.html
I suggest you to atleast read the first 3 sites, and the last page, 71. -
So I tried downloading dell 8.763 driver, but the zip file from dell is missing one or more files or some junk... oi, I don't think I'm cut out for this stuff lol
-
@Grimfan
Your link to the new DELL drivers worked amazingly well! Thank you! I installed the 8.763 drivers over the 10.8 install I got directly from ATI. It installed without issue. I also picked up the newest Crossfire profiles. New as of 08/30. This is the first time I have been able to get the launcher to not fail in hours! There are some folks over on the main FF14 boards that would love this info.
I also am running a M17X R2 -
Answered my own question.
-
will try this now to see if the beta drivers work better....
have done so allready and had problems with sleep/shut down.... only way to fix this is flashing the vbios with a beta bios... not quite ready to do this yet...
so too bad for the sleep/shut down problems! i want to play this again (i was playing during the closed beta) -
No problem at all here with the beta Dell + Vbios
Btw Grimfan, what are your graphics settings for FFXIV?
I have everything topped except 3 boxes that I've left unchecked because it was unplayable with 2 of these options enabled (Depth of field and the other one I don't remember.
Regarding the game itself, it looks nice but I would need more time to test it. I guess I'm more looking forward to play SW:TOR than this FF anyway and I still have to finish FFXIII, might not pay monthly fee for this one for now. -
So i finally got all my drivers and bios and stuff settled and the beta downloader worked, but now im stuck @ 94.8%, downloading @ 0.0b/s... time remaining 1 second lol
This is on boot version 2010.08.27.2001
downloading file D2010.09.04.2000, im unsure why it stalled but cancelling and restarting just puts it back to the same spot
any ideas anyone? lol -
try downloading it with a torrent client such as utorrent. goes much faster...
-
http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware/515271-ffxiv-graphic-problems.html#post6667148 -
I'm stuck at 98.3% on the version update :<. 17 local connections but 0.0b/s
-
Well I finally uninstalled the beta version, being stuck at 97% all day quite annoyed me for the last time hehe
Not that i didn't liked the game, as i've not seen much of it i cannot judge. But I won't be playing this FF soon anyway. Even if I love FF, I'd prefer not get into an MMo right now and finish FFXIII and other game I'm playing, then we'll see.
At least I've seen the m17x was handling it quite ok. -
I found a solution to my problem. And incase anyone else has it, ill tell you how I fixed it.
Go into Documents -> My Games > Final Fantasy XIV Beta Version > downloads > ffxiv-beta > bca2a8ae(or whatever the folder inside the last one is named for you) and youll see a folder named "metainfo"
info has torrents inside it that you can run via any regular torrent program and downloads way better than the patches do using the actual beta download client. -
hey guys I've really gone through each page trying to fix my problem but I guess I'm in some deep trouble here haha!
I own an M17X-R2 and the MX11 Alienwares and the problem I have is I cant get FF14 open beta to work on either of them all graphic cards are up to date and the same with bios yet windows closes down my client everytime I try to start it. all my antivirus programs are shut off aswell.. So I really dont know what I'm doing wrong. I know my comp can handle the game cause I have double ATI Radeon HD 4870 in my computer aswell..
I'm greatful for any help I can get.
king regards
me -
too make things worse I cant even get the benchmark to work on this computer
-
update your gpu drivers first thing and try again...
-
GPU or CPU?
Cause I have updated my drivers and bios the first day I got my machine and that was 4 days ago kinda so what I'm wondering is if Ive missed something please help me out.
I live in sweden by the way so whatever help I can get I would appreciate it cause Dells customer services here sucks major balls. -
ohh yeah why would I need Nvidia Drivers for my computer if its the GPU you are refering to when my graphic cards are ATI?
-
-
the thing is I still can get the game to start I just reformated my computer and everything its really stupid that its doing this and its pissing me off cause after a reformat I'm still having the issue of it refusing to start
-
And if you can't give some explicit info on your system or the driver version you are using, then we can't help you sort it out, because i only know about the stock dell drivers 6.962 are definetly not working with FFXIV and it's 98% because you are not using catalyst 10.6+, the other 2% because of server maintenance
If you just reformatted your computer because of wrong drivers, you are definetly doing something wrong, so please tell us which video drivers you installed, and maybe then we can give you some proper info how to solve your problem, whining about it and getting frustrated does not solve anything. Thanks. -
I want to try Catalyst 10.6+ 8.74x if that can play both ff11 and ff14 without problem.
But I can't even find out what my Catalyst is.
It just says version is 2010.0803.2125.36577.
I don't know if that's 10.6+ or not.
Please let me know how I can make it Catalyst 10.6+ 8.74x so that I can play ff14. -
If anyone finally gets on, feel free to add me, Isaak Quek on Wutai.
-
For anyone who hates the software mouse on FFXIV - I read a workaround on Massively, here about how to implement the hardware mouse.
Haven't tested it out personally yet but I will be later today. -
I tried driver 8.762 (Not 8.763. Got it from AMD site) and it works fine for both FF11 and FF14.
It has shutdown/sleep/turn off monitor problem.
But since it's playing games fine, I flashed the bios and everything is working perfectly now
-
good for you friend!
-
-
after i dowloaded all the patch files with utorrent. i started the client and i geuss it doesnt know that they are downloaded am i supposed to due anything?
-
-
Finally downloaded the Open Beta client and got it up and running, however, it keeps forcing me to terminate the program every 5 mins or so because of low system memory supposedly. In my task manager it only shows about 2gb of memory out of the 4 being used so I am a bit stumped.
Anyone any thoughts? -
i've never had memory problems, with iether my laptop and home PC, ram i have is 4 on laptop and 2 on pc, both work like a charm.
try disabling your antivirus/firewall software and see, and end a maximum of not needed programs (such as those in your task bar, on the bottom right) -
I have Microsoft Security Essentials running which I guess could be causing some issues! -
Well, I've got my key and the beta updater, But I keep failing while doing the version update. Not entirely sure whats going on here.
