hmm.. Did you use driversweeper before each? The first, I think I know the problem..maybe - but I dont understand why the scaling issue is still there.

did you have extra, new resolutions with the 2nd? it should have more added than before.

updated # 5 just now.. ok.. i'm off to bed. i'll revisit again toorrow. But, I'm really not sure what it's deal is. :(

    last shot for tonight here:
    http://ewrecked.darksmileysystems.com/32bitagain6.zip

My bad Cool.. I just had to re-upload 2-6 - I made a mistake. I think I fixed the problem with them installing. I had the ATI Version in there twice, and that was prolly causing conflicts. But, its fixed. Now maybe they'll work and scale. :)

Same problem with all of them plus a new problem.

Screen goes black forever and you have to force shutdown. I always force it after the disk activity goes down and after the restart it seems that the drivers actually install. Sadly though, scaling problem still there :p Going for the 6th.

what up Moo? :) Im just on my way out ma'an.. good to see ya though!

CooL; I take it you haven't had luck and you're still trying the drivers.. Just wanted to make sure you're using the "Have disk" method and not installing CCC at the same time. Actually, you shouldn't be installin CCC at all while testing for scaling. Just run thru the drivers. Anyhow, I'll check back tomorrow for updates.

one last thing CooL - when you uninstall and reboot into Vista. what is the desktop resolution? and if you open the Display Properties at that time can you select fullscreen scaling thru Vista? Try setting the resolution to something that isn't scaling properly, then install the driver. And make sure fullscreen scaling is on in vista when you install as well. just some ideas..

That was brutal :( restarted around 40 times.. Think the resolution when you uninstall the drivers and restart is set to 800x600, but if you change it to something else then everytime you are going to uninstall the display drivers its going to set that one instead of 800x600.

You can select four resolutions in total if im not mistaken when you dont have display drivers installed. 800x600, 1280x, 1400x and 1600x. All of the scale on the screen but of course they look awful and everything looks stretched etc.

All of the drivers worked btw but no one fixed the scaling problem :(

Hmm. At least they worked :) none of them are the same config. I tried numerous variations. I'm gonna take a look tonight after work. But, I truly don't get it. Maybe I have to do it without the performance tweaks. Maybe they don't like these new Drivers. It really shouldn't be that difficult. Hey Cool, one last thing.. Why don't you mobmod the folder like we used to before, then throw the inf in there and give it a shot. Not sure it will change anything, but what the heck. Can't hurt.

Dont think you can, i tried it with the CCC but it wasnt successful. Think it needs the full package to mod them properly. Can check again to make sure though :p

CooL, before u go to mod them.. Take the Win7 inf out of the folder. Should be C7 or something .inf - whichever isn't the vista one :)

Man, I wish my overdrive reflash was more successful. Would give the 3870s a bit more life if I were to get both cards to work with overdrive after my reflash experiments.

No luck removing the W7 .inf from the folder. Mobility modder does work with the display drivers files only instead of just the full package but no difference.

Also got 2 interesting hang ups today, no idea why :p Computer just freezes, theres still disk activity and nothing else works, mouse doesnt move etc :p

Waiting for the 3rd time to do an image restore :)

I've made some correct ([ati2mtag_RS780M_SoftwareDeviceSettings]) of E-wrecked'modded inf for x64 Vista and W7. Now it's working with all custom resolutions in Vista (driver and CCC installed by usual setup.exe method) on OCZ Whitebook. In W7 it's working properly in 1920x1200 and 1680x1050 with driver installation using the disk method and then CCC 9.3 by setup.exe

I don't know why but it is no problem. Just use a "only CCC" installer.

Well now the scaling finally works with me too. Used Sky7's INFs and 9.1 CCC and it's smooth now. Dunno why the 9.3 CCC isn't even doing anything on my M17...

Still no scaling with these :( and i couldnt use the installer to install the drivers (no display driver in custom installation) so i had to use the have disk method.

edit: Used the mobility modder on the display drivers files and it seems to be doing the work (the installing them without the have disk method that is :p). But doesnt affect the scaling.
