I hope dell would soon put back the R3's on their site. That would make us time to config our systems. I don't get why they are still not putting back the r3 page.
-
Things are looking good for next week. Just be patient
lol
-
Do you have some info?????
-
All the info is already posted on this forum. Nothing concrete but strong possibilities that next week will the the release.
-
So just to be a hard I decided to reply to the aafes message and I told him to tell me the prices of different R2 options and next day shipping must be available.. I know full well 30% off will cost way too much compared to an R3 so I'm kinda reaching alittle saying it has to be the same price with my options chosen ( I added crossfire, 1200 resolution, blu ray, and an upgrade on the processor
lol )
-
I went through the same thing, told them I would like to explore my options, but I was on a fixed budget. Would be interested if I could get something comparable in performance for the same money. It got me nowhere, Dell takes over from Aafes in this case, and they were more than happy to quote me prices for different configurations, but were not at all willing to work with me on the price, or throw in upgrades, or warranty...nothing.
While I understand this is fully their right, and they can't just go around knocking money off everything, this being a special situation and dealing with a model about to be surpassed (by either the R3 or rumored 18x depending how you want to look at it) I was a little surprised they were unwilling to sweeten the pot at all to move old inventory. The way I look at it, they can do it now to make people happy who have been inconvenienced by the Sandy Bridge issue (not their fault, I know), or they can discount it anyway a few months down the road, and gain nothing.
That's the way things go in big companies though. They don't always have the flexibility to deal with situations like this.
I was pretty set on the R3, but the R2 has more than enough going for it that I was at least willing to entertain the idea of swapping. Yeah, there would be trade-offs, but there would be gains too. But the bottom line is, I'm not going to be duped. -
Mine's still "4/13(updated)". . Do you think they're not changing mine cuz I'm an aafes customer aka I got it for cheaper, and I'm willing to wait, and I've already paid?
-
Since I'm aafes too and mine hasn't changed either, I'm guessing since it is a third party reseller it just doesn't update as fast.
-
mine says 4/13(updated) too and i didn't order through aafes although i did use epp and bargaining to get a sweeter price (but probably not as sweet as 30% off
)
-
K, thought I was the lone party, cuz I've been clogging up their phone lines ever since I found out about the recall issue, lolz.
Hopefully it comes earlier. -
Crossing my fingers for tomorrow >_<
-
why? do you expect something for tomorrow?
I talked yesterday with them and they told me it will be two more week?
hope not and relise early..... -
ive spoke to two reps now and they said theres a strong possibility of it re-releasing this week.
-
There's a forum that says the R3 will be back on the site by Tuesday http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m17x/557908-m17x-r3-purchase.html
-
Which country was your rep from? I don't trust any of them. Only would slightly trust the American reps more, cuz they're in it for the dough lolz.
-
Hoping for Tuesday release...it has everything I want except the matte screen.
-
If it's going to be available for purchase on Tuesday, does that mean we should start seeing the first batch of shipments coming in (aka going out to our homes)?
-
It means Dell has the new chipsets and plans on starting production with them. Still might be another week before they start shipping.
-
Reply to the "How much does M17x cost" thread:
I'm mostly angry at dell cuz they havent changed my edd, even though I ordered on same day as some people who had theirs changed. Also, they havent changed my edd after having 3 "expedite requests" put in. And, and, andddddd, they havent emailed me to confirm the expedite request = they're just bsing me to get me off the phone / aka not cancel on them. These csrs think they're so smart by trying to offer us an alternative option/purchase. Bad customer service isn't going to retain a customer. The normal customer is more likely to just pick another brand. Sheesh! -
If the current EDD for the new XPS and HP Envy are any idicators of when the R3 will possibly ship, I would guess around the 3rd week of March. I feel your pain, but calling them every day isn't going to get them to build it any faster. Hopefuly it will be worth the wait.
-
Does "4/13(updated)" = 3rd week?
Say yes to appease me (us).
-
Mine says the same. It was updated after our original EDD came and passed. Have you heard of anyones EDD change from 4/13 to an earlier date? I doubt they will change it. They will just ship it when it's ready and not bother changing it. I'm just guessing like everyone else. The CSR you're speaking with probably doesn't have any more information than anyone else in these forums.
-
Don't see this anywhere on the Direct2Dell blog. PM me the specific link and I'll update the main thread. Lets continue to use the main thread for this.
http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...sandy-bridge-issue-what-does-mean-m17xr3.html
Thanks.
EDIT:
Thanks to those who sent the heads-up. Lionel posted a reply and I was looking at his actual post which did not include this info. This is why I missed it. In any case, he was replying to a person asking when the 17xR3 was going to be put back up on the site. Here is what was posted -
Lets continue in the main discussion thread.
Thanks. -
Kind of sad that Alienware is the only one who offers quality support or a quality repair service or else they'd be out of another customer.
The "high end gaming laptop" lines are pretty terrible right now.
I could drop $4000 on a Falcon Northwest with no better specs than any of the hundreds of Clevo resellers (All of which are small boutiques that don't offer tons in terms of support or anything)
Not even going to consider Asus considering I've RMA'd with them before and it took 2 1/2 weeks to get something back.. And that was just for a graphics card for my desktop... I also hate Asus build quality.
If there was an actual competitor for these types of laptops I'd go with them in a heartbeat... It really, really bothers me that they can release fixed XPS systems with Sandybridge and no issues but when it comes to Alienware the entire company is so clueless as to whats happening with them it isn't even funny. -
maybe this is where they start to destroy alienware and get people onto their own original brand xps systems?
-
I don't think we will receive any m17x r3 until the end of the month or april mid of the month.....too bad...
-
Just noticed that now you cant order the m17x R2 anymore either.. they still have it up, but it says it can no longer be ordered online
also cant customize the m15x anymore -
This is a good sign. Let's hope tomorrow we'll be able to configure a R3.
-
Maybe even a M18x
-
hope to be true......
-
Getting excited! Dear R3, Please be back on the site.
-
me too.....I want the r3...
-
hmm, more speculation but I just spoke to a Dell rep who said it is 100% going to be for sale starting March 3. Seems odd they would start selling it on a Thursday instead of earlier in the week.
-
They don't really know, I spoke with a dell rep and he told me 100% two weeks and the r3 will be back....soo..... thay don't know nothing.....
-
I sure hope so, not because I can afford to buy one, but because I really want to see what they're going to do and play around with configuring one.
-
It looks like we may have to wait just a few more days. However, after re-reading the chat log, I am a little skeptical of the agent's knowledge.
02/28/2011 07:22:51PM Session Started with Agent (Prasada G)
02/28/2011 07:22:55PM Agent (Prasada G): "Welcome to Dell US Chat!
My name is Prasad and I will be your Dell.com Sales Chat Advisor. I can be reached at or via phone at 1-800-289-3355. How can I help you today?"
02/28/2011 07:23:29PM Dakota: "Hi, I was just curious to why the M17x R2 is no longer available for configuration online."
02/28/2011 07:23:38PM Agent (Prasada G): "Sure! I would be happy to help you."
02/28/2011 07:23:53PM Agent (Prasada G): "Dakota, it will available from March 03 2011"
02/28/2011 07:24:37PM Dakota: "Would you be able to tell me if this signifies the re-release of the M17x R3? I've been waiting to purchase that laptop for some time."
02/28/2011 07:25:40PM Agent (Prasada G): "yes it is the latest one with the complete fast technology"
02/28/2011 07:26:29PM Dakota: "So just to clarify, it will be available for purchase March 3?"
02/28/2011 07:27:34PM Agent (Prasada G): "Yes it will be available from March 3 onwards"
02/28/2011 07:28:39PM Dakota: "Fantastic! Thank you for your assistance. -
All this "this rep said that, that rep said this" , posting this online chat, that online chat......meh. Where is it getting anyone ? The EDD is pretty much computer generated dates, I have had things come before and after those.....it is, honestly, a APPROXIMATION. The key part of EDD is ESTIMATED.
It wll be ready when its ready....seriousely folks. I understand some ya pissed, frustrated and think Dell has the worst customer service in the world.
Well, if you think their customer service sucks that bad or your are sick of their EDD crap as so many have put it, vote with your wallets, there ARE other options out there besides AW. Hate to say that, since I still own one and just recently sold one of mine.
LIke I said in a earlier post, the only people who REALLY have any right to complain are the AAFS people...they have already paid.
and no, before you get off calling me a fanboi, I am not, I own a Sager also
-
Phbbbbbbt! You're always trying to ruin our fun.
Seriously though Ww, we're all just really bored. I like all the speculative posts, etc. as they're better to read than no post at all.
But I agree with everything you said about the EDDs and rep knowledge. It would be magical to find someone who actually knew what was going on. -
Why r u mad at us? Were all here to get whatever information we can, even if it's a simple rumor or personal experience.. I understand some of the random ranting that says nothing is annoying but you dont have to say anything,It's not like someone forces you to read all this lol
-
The intent of my post wasn't to complain, simply inform.
Although, I do appreciate being categorized as those who are "pissed, frustrated, and think Dell has the worst customer service in the world." Plus, your assumption that I will classify you as a "fanboi" makes it that much better. -
Thx for the recognition
Not only that. I think the csrs are buffoons, because none of them reads the memo before asking me if I want to cancel/change my order to a different system which isn't affected by the Intel issue. I've told each person to add to the memo to NOT ASK THIS GUY IF HE WANTS TO CANCEL. And then when I point out to the csr that it's in the notes, he/she goes "Oh I'm so sorry," and regurgitates the usual spam that "they're working closely with Intel to get this issue resolved, and will keep you updated."
And yes, we ALL are just really, really bored. Especially me, since I've dropped 1.3k into something that's not in my hands, and have just paid my cc bill
Today, btw, was my first day, since I made the purchase on 1/28, that I didn't dial 1800ALIENWA, opt 2, opt 1, entered order #, enter order # again, to check my order status LOL.
Getting sick of the wait. So sick of it that I started playing my ps3 again. -
Gonna get on my soapbox and go WAY OT.....
You guys dont get enough recognition in my opinion, you bust your serving your country for mostly crappy pay and some in verry deadly situations....
In my opinion, cant do enough to thank you or make things a bit easier whenever possble, wether thats just a handshake and a simple "thank you" or something more...
Thank you. -
for anyone that doesnt keep up on other forum topics....the m17x R3 website is up!
Alienware M17x Laptop Details | Dell
-
He isn't military...His brother is, IIRC.
-
Err.....uh...ok....well, thank your brother then
-
Dell has updated some info on the Direct 2 Dell site, of course the M17x R3 is the one they aren't accepting new orders for yet:
"Beyond that, beginning today we’re expanding the list of systems beyond the XPS 15 and 17. We’re now taking orders in Europe and the United States for XPS 8300, Vostro 460 and Alienware Aurora R3 desktops with updated chipset hardware. The Alienware M17x R3 laptop is the only system we’re not yet accepting new orders for. We hope to change that soon." -
LOLZ, I'll pass the message on to my brother, who still hasn't come home yet. Poor guy is stuck on a ship somewhere in the Pacific. Once again though, thanks for the recognition. What I meant was thx for the recognition of those who've already paid
LOLZ, and havent received a machine/didn't get EDD's changed to 3/3
EDIT: Woah! Just checked the dell.com site, and this time, they've COMPLETELY REMOVED the m17x altogether. Wonder what's going on...? -
Yes its a good sign/weird(?)
-
Heads up! I got my order status changed from in preparation (which it has been up until yesterday) to in production! I am happy I didn't cancel...
-
Oh man once i get the chance I'm gonna chat with an alienware rep and see what's up
