She wants you...lol![]()
You must have some bad luck with the CSRs.
Is it really worth the hassle of getting a faulty mobo though? The recent news from Intel indicates that they will be shipping the new mobos on the 14th. I'm sure Dell will be getting them within the week and start building new laptops before the end of the month
-
I asked for her extension, so that I could have at least 1 American rep's contact info.
I hope that they'll be ready by the 14th. Hopefully if I don't get it by my EDD 2/16, at least by the end of the month. But seriously, should I ask them for anything else to compensate for all the trouble they've caused us? What have ppl (currently or in the past) asked for in terms of compensation/goodies? -
A free extended warranty would be nice
-
I asked a CSR (although it was an Indian CSR who ive heard have less leeway in offering stuff) for an extended warranty for free because of all the hassle and was told this was something they probably would not do.
-
Just checked my order status and EDD has been changed from the 16th to the 26th, hoping this is a positive sign...
-
I'm not sure Dell will provide any compensation for the Sandy Bridge recall, since it is really not their fault. Sure, they could have been more forthcoming with information, but they have no control over this recall, as it is Intel's problem. Personally, I don't expect to be compensated for this, and I don't think anyone should expect compensation from Dell. From my experience, Dell is not as forthcoming with huge discounts and other offers on the Alienware line. Even when my order was canceled due to Dell's error, and this after receiving several defective units, I was only offered an upgrade from the premium warranty I paid for to an advanced warranty.
-
My EDD has been changed as well from the 17th to the 24th
-
My EDD's still the same....
When did you order? -
i ordered on january 27th. I just got off the phone with a csr and they have no updates yet. they didnt even know that intel will begin shipping the new mobos on monday. its kinda sad that most of us on here are more on top of their jobs than they are. she has to confirm the update i gave her and call me back monday. i believe that if they truly do receive the fixed mobos on monday that an EDD of 2/24 is more than do-able. just hope they arent yanking my chain again -_-
-
Like Dook, My EDD is still 2/16... Did you have to cancel your existing order and make an entirely different order, or did it just change automatically?
-
it was just changed today when i checked as i do every morning lol im keeping my fingers crossed >_< it says ....Shipping Method: 7 Day Delivery
Estimated Delivery Date: 2/24/2011 (updated) -
mines still the 16th
mine was also ordered on Jan 30th with 2 day shipping
-
You should call them and ask for some sort of compensation like Next Day Shipping, you can also say that you wish to cancel, most of the time they will give you $100 just to keep the sale. If one rep says no to both, say thank you and try another rep.
You will most likely not get it by the 16th, Intel is sending out the new motherboards on the 14th. -
oh yea i know i wont get it by the 16th, just a little concerning that some people are gettin new dates and mines still stuck on the 16th. Ive told them i wanted to keep it so. Are there phone lines open on the weekend? And does anybody have a number to an american rep? No offence but i cant stand dealing with those indians. Also how do you go about asking for compensation? Never asked before so dont know
-
Not sure about the weekend, even if you can call on the weekend you probably won't get an American rep. have you tried calling and asking to be transferred to an American rep? most of the time it works, sometimes you just get transferred to another overseas rep.
You should read this post;

A lot of useful information there about getting deals, compensation, etc. Definitely worth the read. -
ok thanx alot. This is my first Alienware and definitely didnt see it going this way lol.
-
My EDD online hasn't changed.
-
Mine changed from 2/18 to 2/25
-
My EDD hasnt changed either )-:
-
when did all of yall place your orders? Maby there changing then from time placed?
-
I placed mine on the 31st Jan
-
Ordered Jan 26th, EDD has always been 2/18. Phone has always said estimated ship date of 2/15.
-
mine was ordered Jan 30th with EDD of Feb 16th, Ship date of Feb 14th so looks like maby the people with earlier orders are getting the updated edd's first. (again just my guestimate)
-
order Jan 27th, EDD of Fed 16th... no change
-
same here and also no change
-
Man. You sure are lucky.
Mine still says 2/16, even though I ordered a day after you. Well, technically a few hours after you, cuz it was 1/27 here in Cali, but it was 1/28 when reflected online. -
maybe its cuz ive made such a fuss on the phone so many times that mine got updated lol they just want to shut me up by now >_< im praying that its in my hands by the 24th tho
-
I've also made a fuss...but nuttin. All my guy did was put in a request to continue production, and yesterday the other guy put in a request to expedite my order. Both of which are to get me to shut up.
In other news... Intel fixes Sandy Bridge chipset issue - Notebookcheck.net News
Hopefully OEMs listen and send that stuff out already. -
my order was placed 1/27 in the afternoon and it still says 2/16.
pretty frustrating that orders that were placed after mine got updated first
.
maybe its random but i dont understand why that would be
-
No idea either.
@Schism, did your status change both ONLINE and on the PHONE too? Or just online? -
It no longer says any EDD at all on the phone. Online it is updated to 2/24 though. Again im just hoping i get it this time
-
As far as that link. They cant do that in our case as our computers ALL will be using 3 SATA ports. So our DVD/ blu-ray drive WILL die lol
-
All 3? Besides the HDD and the ODD, what else is using the SATA port? Is it the esata hole?
Also:In the user manual, they only list the 460M, 6970M, and 6870M. So my guess is the highest they'll support is the 6970M which isn't a bad card from what ppl are saying. -
Yeah, the hard drives use both of the SATA III ports (0 and 1), and the dvd and esata are on the SATA II ports (2 and 3) which are affected by the problem.
-
That's interesting. Man, highly doubt Imma get it on 2/16.
-
I'm guessing no lol but heres hoping!
-
being that intel is suppposed to ship the updated chipsets today im hoping that dell might have more definitive info rather then the run around that they've been giving us these last few (looooooooooooong) weeks.
here's hoping
-
Ya, will be calling tomorrow morning on my way to work
-
Intel may START shipping the effected motherboards today, but I can almost gaurentee you that full prod will take a bit from Dell and others.....
-
So if Intel is shipping the effected motherboards, who makes the motherboards? I had not realized that they could be similar to the desktop concept of 3rd party motherboards. I had thought they were special builds from outsourcing, etc. but really have no clue on this. I guess it would be an expensive operation if they had their very own mother board. And then, who is responsible for testing the motherboards? This could be a lot more time consuming than I originally thought if there are more players involved.
====
Interestingly, there are a few websites that indicate Intel or Asus makes Dell laptop motherboards. Still not sure about Alienware. So perhaps as you say, Intel may indeed make the motherboard.
see: http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/1901780 -
It's called overtime
-
I believe compal are making the R-3. Intels chipsets will already be tested when they get there...
The have tio make the new motherboards and build the computer then ship it to the USA. -
Yea but they are just beginning to ship, will take a bit longer to ramp to full production and shipping.....its not as instant as some would like.
-
Just received a call from Dell. The CSR insisted that the R3 wasn't going to be made any more at all... He told me, and I quote, "Dell will never make this model again so it's important that we go ahead and cancel your order and re-order you an alternate system." Before I even had a chance to respond he said "I'll go ahead and cancel your order right away." I told him to wait and informed him that I've been told by several CSR's and Supervisors that I can keep my order on hold and whenever the new chipsets were received, my laptop would go back into production as normal. He said no. I told him not to cancel my order and asked to speak with a supervisor. I was placed on hold for a while and when I finally got around to speaking with a supervisor, I was told that I didn't have to cancel my order and that it was back in production awaiting parts. My question is... Did anyone else get a call like that this morning or was I the only one? I figured the guy was just trying to get a sale out of me or something...
-
DaneGRClose Notebook Virtuoso
Most likely just trying to get credit for a sale, if he cancels the prior order and places the new one for you it's him that gets the credit and not the prior rep. This is just another thing to prove my theory that Dell sales people are worse than used car salesmen.
-
Thats messed up that they'd do something like that.....
-
Exactly the same with what I was told 10 days ago from a Dell rep. He kept saying that R3 is gone forever, and what I should do is to buy a R2 instead. That DOES NOT make sense at all, since no company would spend a lot of money on R&D, marketing, etc. for a single product line then discontinue it because of a supplier's recall. There's NOTHING wrong with the R3 itself (im not saying it doesnt have issues though
) its just the Intel chipset. Dane is right, the rep was just trying to take his part of sale from another.
Anyway, IMO this is a very good chance for Dell to fix all other issues that R3 might have and make a better R3. Customers who have had R3 may return it for replacement later - and all of these expenses would be covered by Intel.
I feel sorry for Intel now. LOL. But after this, Intel's reputation to me does not change at all, if not improved, because at least they are willing to face the problem and did it after a reasonable period of time, unlike OCZ who is making excuses for their false advertising. -
I've been recieving a call from a CSR rep EVERDAY asking me if I want to cancel my order. Everyday I tell them NO and just like clock work the exact same time the next day another csr asking me if I wanna cancel my order. The two times I didnt answer my phone they left a message saying if I didnt call them back that they would cancel my order. So what it's turned in to is that everyday I have to verify that I dont want to cancel my order EVERYDAY.....
-
so to no surprise I received my 2nd call from a Dell CSR rep today recommending that I cancel my order because he doesn't foresee it progressing anytime soon. He says their still waiting on an official declaration from INTEL (whatever that means) So twice today I have had to tell them not to cancel my order to go along the the other 20+ times they have tried to get me to cancel.
-
That is CRAZY! As someone who has yet to hear a peep from Dell about my order I am annoyed at the lack of contact but I would be waaay more annoyed with the constant barrage you are dealing with.
