At this rate you guys will order a laptop, then cancel it because something new is announced the next day.
-
hey some one check out the desktops
they actually have a XPS on AW -
Haha they do. Hmmmmmm interesting.
-
No deal for the M17x.
http://www.dell.com/content/topics/segtopic.aspx/signature-event?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs
Same configuration and price as the base M17x. -
free headset yippee!
-
Howitzer225 Death Company Dreadnought
I'm beginning to feel there is some development going on at AW. Must be Dell trying to get their product lineups in place there.
-
Well, the signature event ends on Wed.
Maybe that'll be when they announce the refresh (after the sign event)... -
Ahhhhh I'm not too happy now, thats not even a deal......
-
Wow. Who was the genius who said "I know! Maybe if we give a free headset they'll buy a laptop!"
-
What is the geforce 280M"1" ? What is the 1 for ?
-
probably forgot to use the shift key.
-
)
I just order one with:
dual 260m
wuxga
500 hd
everything else stock but i will replace the CPU to a QX9300.
i was hoping for a better deal but 7% off and no taxes is still pretty good imo. (and a great headset)
-
Is there actually an evalue code associated with it?
-
yep
-
DJ do you live in the US? Did they just start shipping for free and removing the tax, because the tax used to be about $150-200 in Ohio.
-
i had a dram they released a 18 inch. called Q18x
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
wow....now we are dreaming about AW laptops? haha
-
-
He is most likely using an EPP discount (for students/employees). And if he uses a DPA card it's an additional 3%.
-
any one think the new desktops will have core i5 or the new core i7 870
-
I can't see them having core i5,would seem like a bit of a step backwards.
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
core i5 and the new core i7 (socket 1156 parts) completely non plus me
With a good P55 board you end up paying the same as I did for my good x58 and i7 920....and I get better performance and didn't have to wait an extra year (and SLI/CF is SO Much better with all the extra PCI-e lanes I got) -
alienware has canceled all their desktops so i am assuming the new one will be announced with the m15x
-

boutique desktop are just not as alluring as you can make you own, laptops still require some work before people are making their own thus the need for companies like AW and Sager/Clevo
-
Ok, on the dell signature event page it advertises the M17X going for $1799 for 2 days only. Thats what the starting price has been before the event so how is one getting deal of any kind?
-
Its not a deal you just get a free set of headphones and i think free shipping as well .
-
-
At this point they dont need to have a sale since they really dont have any competition for the machine . So i guess a free set of headphones and free shipping is better then a slap in the face
.
-
Sure miss that July e-code value. Now that would be a great deal. *sigh*
-
-
A really nice discounted configuration with 280m's and a Q9000 for like $2599
-
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
actually stock it was 250gb hdd, q9000, 1440x900, gtx 280m SLI, dvd
I don't remember the base config price, but I got blu ray and 1920x1200 for like 2400 before tax/shipping
so it was amazing -
July E-Code saved you $350 USD off the base model which basically made it a free upgrade for a 260M SLI config to 280M SLI.
-
I wish they would offer one of those sweet codes again.
-
They will. Just not this month.
July was their back to school sale so you'll probably see similar deals for the holiday season. -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
ya new deals need to come out, but nothing that makes me feel bad for what I paid haha
I ended up ordering july 31 at like 6 pm, I cut it CLOSE haha (procuring funds was a challenge - had $60 in bank after that order since my HP QX9300 went out same day lol) - that is including all taxes and shipping by the way
All in all, I had these specs for just over $3k:
1920x1200
QX9300 OEM
Seagate 250GB 7200rpm
4GB Elpida DDR3-1066 (what dell supplied)
Blu-Ray Reader
GTX 280m SLI
So I was plenty satisfied -
scook
what driver and what clocks did you use for your gpu score? -

I believe those were 680/1075/1700 and the dox 182.46 (it is in ORB if you follow the link in my sig)
-
-
Thanks!
I didn't check the link yet. lol -

the memory isn't what would crash a driver, it would just cause artifacting (at least was the case with ATI cards and my 8800GTS G92 on desktop)
I was getting some intermittent driver crashing at 690/1725 in vantage (probably about 1 in 3 runs) -
I get that with the memory over 1065.
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
my memory ran without incident at 1080, but the core was never happy at 690 (not 100% happy that is)

Searching for notebooks in Europe, I found out that Cizmo is going to release the 29th of September a new 15.6" Notebook based on Intel i7 and GTX 260M.
Apparently the notebook is configurable only in the Italian website, but here is the link: CIZMO CX15i
According to this thread " http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=412388&page=1" this notebook is based on the Sager W860CU.
After this news, I realized that the new Alienware notebook will be something similar, so a 15.6" with i7 and GTX 260M, also because it will be out in the end of september too.
What do you think?? -
I think CIZMO is going to have to write a lot of apology emails explaining why their customers' W860CU orders are being delayed.
