Almost the same size. lol -
the3vilGenius 3vil knows no fear
Yeah that is crazy, Glad i got the m17x then and not cut on any hardware. btw is it possible to upgrade to a i7 without having to replace anything. except the cpu duh
-
No.
You'll need a new motherboard for that. -
Lol thats rather sad that there so close to the same size honestly...
-
I'd rather have the 15" be slim and sexy, but I can't have my cake and eat it too, ya know?
Packing the i7 and all that in there is going to require a beefy system -
my m17x with my puny base processor comes friday
i cant wait! -
the3vilGenius 3vil knows no fear
Then i have to skip core i7 and ill get core i20 or something when i buy a new one
because i dont think ill ever want another laptop then this one

Very true.
The price we have to pay to be early adopters, I guess -
-
Not interested in 1. the looks and 2. the GPU.
I just can't get over the macbook rip-off that HP is pulling. Besides, I would not buy an HP anyway. -

in a 15 incher .... that would rock my "panties" off ...lol
-
Gay, no HDMI!
-
Digital1337 Notebook Evangelist
unless its a digital-port hybrid that combines both
-
OMG buy a adapter ....
-
awww, no more smart bay
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
a display port to hdmi adapter is about $100 moo.....
barely smaller than the M17x....now I feel VERY good haha, given the extra horsepower I got
the smart bay was a quanta thing....flextronics is building these
I do hope they got an integrated graphics worked out for mobile i7, if not intel will have trouble keeping it in a notebook that normal people will pay for -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
just read through the "manuals" and saw a few things in the BIOS
1) you can adjust RAM voltage - this is new and seemingly unneeded? (unless you are a hard core memory overclocker on your laptop I guess)
2) you can disable Intel Speedstep (EIST?) - this is something I want for my M17x
I have to say though, all in all a pretty nice system. If the price isn't too high I would probably be happy with it (but am still glad I got my M17x)

yes displayport can carry audio
-
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
most likely will still carry audio, but that adapting process will be a pain....it requires a logic unit since the video protocol is different for HDMI and displayport, thus the high cost of converting it. It is not just a pin to pin remap like DVI and HDMI (they use the same video protocol). It is kind of a waste to be putting displayport onto laptops right now....as only a handful of 30" monitors have it anyway (and the mobile cards can't even drive that resolution - driver limited I think)

Geez this thing is huge for a 15 incher!
Wish it had a slimmer and smaller case...darn now I'm not sure which way to go !
It better have a GPU that blows us away. -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
it is pretty much the same size as the M17x (for all intensive purposes - just weighs less)
So let price (hopefully) be your deciding factor, and for now, CPU preference -

On a side note Scook, the saying is actually "for all intents and purposes" not "for all intensive purposes" just thought you might want to know for future reference. -

Video from M15X GPU GTX 240/260 non SLi:

240/260 => :/
-
-
Don't get me wrong it looks awesome, I just wish it was a bit smaller.
This is not really a 15" laptop.
Looks like a M17X that's been in the drier to long.
Now only what GPU it comes with will be the deciding factor( well that and price difference...lol)! -
Ikas its already on the dell order page and you can get the 260m for an extra $250.00 but thats the only other GPU option for now. Good news is they announced the 4870XTs for the M17x today
.
-
I wish it had a full size keyboard at that size. I really hope there is a 280 option in this, I would really prefer that over a 260. But maybe the price will make up for this...
-
Digital1337 Notebook Evangelist
4870 crossfire (2Gbs) for M17X available now !!!!!
-
Maybe they will add the 4870 down the road to it or 4850. Cant see there ever being a 280m simply because that would have been available at launch not to mention there is not much performance difference in the 260m vs the 280m . 16 extra SPs and higher clocks are the only thing that set apart both cards and its not that huge in the end since the 260s OC very well and can easily achieve 280 stock clocks for less money..

O cool the new Mx15 is up on Dell. Starts with a 240 yay...
-
9 lbs?!
That things gotta be the largest 15" ever! It even makes the NP8662 seem portable... -
I like the processor options though.
Ooo you can get a 9 cell, I wonder what the battery life will be with that.
-
really, it only comes with 3 gigs of ram? Not that its hard to install ram, but christ I thought AW was done with doing lame like that.
-
I soo want.. but financial aid comes in week.. and well cant more weeks for notebook..need one asap but man 1766$ is a nice price *after student discount* since 240gt would be fine for me..i donno maybe i can deal with the wait for this machine... gotta think
-
-
I got the standard 3GB.
Didn't seem worth $50 to get 4GB so I'll upgrade myself -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
those upgrade prices are all bogus.....at least the base price is good
-
I wouldn't say the i7 820 price is bogus.
But, yeah the rest are.....
