ya that is true haha (just with 1440x900 being replaced by 1600x900)

You know what that means to me? Dell f*cked up with pricing the M15x lol

I still think for what I paid it was a good deal.

Look, the i7 launched today. Of course they are going to price it high....

but wouldnt we all be even more impressed if it launched AND was priced well?

Intel botched the i5/new i7 launch as well with prices... being as Microcenter has been selling i7 920's for $200 flat for months now which is an amazing deal compared to the more expensive and lower performing LGA1156 parts

so the m17x is still more powerful in terms of gaming than the m15x, even though the m15x has a faster processor?

How is $350 for the 820 a botched price?

It offers same performance as the $1000 QX9300...

The CPU pricing isnt bad, just alot. Which will keep it from catching on which will force intel to support 2 lines of products until they get the lower cost nehalem mobile parts out - just like happened in the desktop world

The other prices all seem to come a little high for upgrades.....if I was getting one of these, I would pick my screen and CPU from dell and upgrade everything else myself

but those are games that already get ample CPU power from the Core 2 Quad cpu's

SO might as well have the addional GPU power offered through the M17x right?! (of course, this is all assuming cost is not a barrier haha)

I actually think the design isn't that bad (sure the M17x has sharper lines). My only gripe is no HDMI port (adapter/cable is just another thing you gotta buy AHHHHH!).

Does anyone know if the 9-cell battery will still be flush with the rest of the bottom?

......and yeah the upgrade pricing is ridiculous for the WideFHD WLED and 260 GPU.

I think the lack of HDMI is inexcusable for such a high end laptop. The Mx15 is not impressing me...at all.

the lack of hdmi is my main gripe against it

the clevo option is really all around better - just uglier haha

edit: if Dell is smart, they better start including a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter or they are going to lose sales over this

Even my OLDER gen1 m17x has a hdmi port....... everyone is switching to hdmi..... vga really? They must be tailoring to mainstream user that don't have new tech (a freakin cable). Newly released ultraportables have hdmi... it's popping everywhere but the new M15x....

okay i won't post anymore about the hdmi haha

I really have to say that i am very disappointed with the new m15x...

#1. They dropped HDMI, and kept VGA & DisplayPort... ?
I dont plan on buying a 30" Dell monitor to play my games on. I want to use a 32" HDTV coz it costs less than half of the price. Also, if i have the money for an AW laptop, i surely am not gonna be using a monitor that has a VGA connector. Lastly, now i have to pay an additional fee for a DisplayPort -> HDMI converter?! Mega-BS. This is nothing but Dell trying to push their own hardware agenda on others who would have it differently.

    #2. Big MF'ing case.
This thing is frikin hooj! So big, that you might as well get a M17x. Oh, and BTW, you dont get the same (single-card) graphics options that you can get on the M17x, despite it being nearly the same size.

    #3. No G280m.
LAME! For as big as this sucka is, it should be able to hold a G280m.

    #4. No Smart Bay.
Where'd the one of the nicest Dell features go? Not in the m15x!

I think that Dell just about killed the m15x for me... Its too bad that you cant get a i7/820 in a m17x, because that is a price point that i would be interested in.

Toms Hardware just did a pretty good review of the 5870, you can look there to get some more info. This compares the 4870 and 4890 with a (real) GTX 285 and GTX 295 as well

would you be excited if there was a 12"?!

You know it would have to be an integrated GPU right....which means it would also have to be core 2 architecture since no IGP exists for i7 yet (nvidia never got rights to QPI from Intel to make nehalem chipsets)

If you want a nice small system, look to something like the new 11" Asus EEE netbook with Nvidia ION platform
