He doesnt like all the drama of the forums quite frankly . Hes a pretty humble guy and the Asus forums when the W90 came out was a hornets nest of negativity . All about the 4870s not being 4870s and rather 4850s and this went on for a month or 2 every day . Very depressing at the beginning .

    We will see haha

He may hate ATI, but he loves high benchmark numbers much more and the price difference may not be much in comparison to the performance difference

I was chatting with quad about this earlier. I have been inching ever closer to buying an M17x. I just wanted to wait for landfall. im now giving serious thought to ponying up for these cards. its a bit more $$$ then I thought I was going to shell out though. im not a hardcore gamer either. I just want the best, LOL arent I sad? :p

I Agree he would love to have them but he is already pre commited to something else lets just say . I talk to him on the phone once a week or so and i talked to him today about them but since he made a prior commitment he has little choice in the matter . Or if he wins the Lottery :D.

Well i would think if you want to play games farther into the future without issue then spend now or just plan on selling your machine abit sooner buying a new one . Also it greatly depends on what types of games you plan on playing etc.

    That's my dilemma quad.

I am a casual FPS gamer and wish I could get a single 4870 in the M15x....

It's not like I'm asking to solve world hunger, jeez.....

I seriously hope you didn't create an account just to leave one venting post.

It is possible the 280M will be an option down the road as well as the GTS 260M, it doesn't mean they wont be options at all just because they aren't right now.

Id say look to the games coming in the future and not just whats out now . You want something that is going to last as a game may come out that peaks your interest and you want to be sure you can play it at decent settings. THe main thing is not have to run out of native resolution . plenty of people can play games like crysis on there crappy notebooks if they run it at 640x480 :D.

The only thing really exciting me so far is Modern Warfare 2 :D

COD4 ran well on mid-range systems so maybe MW2 won't be very taxing either.

He PMed me back in June when the M17x launched and we first heard the rumors about the Crossfire option "in a month or two." Said he would pick the M17x up when they came out.

Agreed, with the exception of those SSD's I just ordered. Those particular Samsung's (presently only available to OEM's) are simply B@D@$$, and for 512GB, can't be beat..... yet anyhow.

Priced one out today but estimated delivery date is the day I'm going away so it'll have to wait until I get back.

Microcenter needs to start selling the M17x version in store so I can go pick one up in person.
