Wow GDDR5 confirmed, SWEET! Gratz Striker!
Soley out of curiosity, does anybody know off hand if existing m17X owners can somehow upgrade to the new 4870 cards? either by sending the laptop in or just getting the cards mailed to you? would it even be expensive/easy/worth it lol?
I'm not one of those kinda guys that has to get the latest and greatest all the time, but man GDDR5 in my baby....... wow
    :)

Those cards are gonna be hella expensive, tim.

Might not be worth it since you have 280's.

Yeah I love my 280s and am very content with them. But I noticed on Dell's price configurator the 4870s were only $100 more, and I just had no clue how Dell would if they even could price it for me, like would it be cheaper because I ordered the 280s.
I know some M17 owners were able to get the new 4830s (i think) well after their system purchase, and was just wondering what their experiences were.
If i can get the upgrade to 4870 at a reasonable price I would highly consider it (not $700). I'm pretty new to the whole AW community and just don't know how AW deals with things like this.
    Thanks!
    :)

I may have missed this, but the M15x doesn't have a an indiscrete GPU like the M17x's 9400m? So you're stuck with stealth mode only to save battery for casual browsing?

Thats what has been posted thus far about the M15x yes. They do offer 9 cell battery though so if you need that extra time away from the wall thats probably your best bet. Its rather funny though that the bigger of the 2 machines gets the best battery life :).

The M15x has Shadow Grey compared to the M17x Saucer Silver. I hope it doesn't look too different.

I checked out the Australia price and most of the upgrades are completely stupid. An extra 1gb of ram cost nearly 1k to upgrade .

I'll probably just go with the 3 year warranty and 9 cell battery upgrades.

Well, as others have noticed I also wondered about the difference in the naming of colors, i.e., anodized black for M17x, cosmic black for M15x.

I think in these pictures you can really tell the difference, ever so slightly.

    [IMG] [IMG]

I'm actually liking the darker shade of the M15x with that lighter contrast for the triangle at the bottom.

I think it's because the news are over. Some good and some OK. Well, I got an email today about the ALX desktop coming soon. Looks good.

Also Dell has the Auroras as "the smallest" or something. I wonder what the dimensions are.

I have to admit that the color naming might be a marketing tatic, but I cant help but to think that juxtaposition comparison of colors by observation is ridiculous and stupid. What makes you think that your observation is not just difference in lighting?
Oh, I wanted to add in that the M15x has more bleeding through the screen, by a lot! *Scarcasm

Does anyone know how long a 9 cell battery would last in stealth mode,in comparison to a 6 cell?

Wow. Only two chords coming out the sides and look how busy that looks already.

I see that they fixed the issue with the third line that leaks from underneath the speakers.

The battery extends down and not out... Not like any past dell extended batteries. But then again they know its good for the air flow.

I thought that by seeing how the M15x was already a little bit underpowered, it would calm down some M17x owners and give them the confidence they lack in their machine.

    I guess not.

I don't get why this dude hates the M15x so much. It's not like he ordered it already. What better way to feel better about your sytem then to bash someone else's, no?

Anyway, my friend will be getting one of these :D I wish it were just a tad smaller.

I agree with that grey. It can almost be gun metal if they just tried a little more. I wonder why, but the blue alien head outside down leak a lot of led from around the head in the light shots. But you can clearly see that the eyes are bright enough.

I am secured. Don't worry. I just can't cant stand why they deviated away from the "exact" clone of the M7x. Not everything is perfect and they of course had to satisfied the m17x customers and not have identical systems... Because im sure customers do go for looks (alienware).

Quad, buddy, where is that desktop video you speak of?

Anyone read the M15x review at DriverHeaven? Battery is a little over 2 hours on word processing and email. Why would they have the smaller one have less battery than the M17x?

Overall, it is very powerful. Although they did get a monstrous system to test.

The M17x can switch to integrated graphics mode, and the M15x doesn't have this option. Therefore the M17x gets longer battery time.

I think the whole battery issue Is up in the air still, the driverheaven review is more of a hands on preview and not very detailed. Ive also read the battery power in mobilemark should be at least 3hrs... Im thinking with leds turned off screen at 50% and stealth mode this should easily be possible.
