I just called the status number and it said I'm in the build stage, but it says my estimated ship date is 2/1. Is it possible to go from build to shipping by Monday?

Well mine got cancelled and reordered Thursday due to the cd-rom SKU issue. The new ETA was 2/16. But then Friday morning I looked and the new order showed changed for status. I called and they said there was some kind of issue where they accidentally overbilled the DPA card, and had to cancel the order again and redo it. Oddly enough the ETA from the new order on Friday shows 2/2, my rep said "well it could show up some time between 2/2 and 2/16 I think". So I don't want to get my hopes up and not have it show up until 2/16.
They upgraded me to NBD so would be real nice to have it show up on Tuesday.

 

OK i have been monitroing this thread for awhile and it'sw killing me!! I have the dreaded 313-8565 Slot-Loading DVD Burner listed in my order and I have not been cancelled yet. Tried to call and the had no clue about any shortage. So I am stuck waiting with a 1/14 order date (the first date in Canada) and seeing others get shipped... my EDD is 2/5 but i cant see that happening!

 

It's best if you cancel and re-order at this point.

 

I got a headache checking for my status on the phone for the past week. lol I'm going to give one more check tommorrow. If there is no progress, I'll just wait till I hear a knock on my door. * poppin' one ibuprofen * ... G-nite...

Yes it's in boxing. It should ship out by tomorrow or Monday.

 

They don't ship on Sundays

 

I've had tracking information uploaded on Sunday evening twice already. So to be more precise, they create the label by Sunday.

 

They create it when ever the preemptive multitasking schedule tells it

IMO im not about to cancel an order after 13 build days. Its not my responsibility to call dell to make sure they fix their own mistake, if it is one anyways.

Im guessing your going by what the web site is saying. "in production"

Mine says "in production" for all i know it could be in shipping prep.

 

Try actually calling the number like we told you or waiting like the rest of us

1 800 283 2210 options 3 2 1 1. If it's still in the build stage, it's a good indicator that the old part number is holding up your order. You might get lucky and they'll catch the error and fix it or they'll outright cancel it. If it was me I'd have canceled it days ago and re-ordered but at this point I'm not sure what you should do.

 

Unfortunately that number doesn't work for us Canucks... I guess at this point I am still holding out for the hope that they will just correct it behind the scenes and send it to me, but from what I have read in here that does not sound like the norm.

The issue with a re-order is that the price has gone up $100 for the same config since I placed my order, so I think I am stuck waiting for the cancellation. At least that way I think I can just call it in and get the same price, and hopefully a few additional perks?

Sad thing is like others in this forum I already have the spare power adapter, SSD, carrying case ready to roll....

 

I ordered through EPP, when I called my rep back on Thursday he said he had already gotten an email from the parts group that the CD-ROM sku was invalid and he was going to have to redo the order. He also said they mentioned something about the SKU for the AC adapter needed to be 330-7840 but that SKU wasnt even an option in the system, not sure what that was about. I complained and he upgraded me to NBD shipping and threw in the upgrade to 1333 RAM for me, and he did it all for me at the same price even though the price had gone up by 50$ when I configured it again online. Someone else on here said they got them to give them and additional 5% off for the trouble, if you went through a rep to order I would definitely recommend calling them back.

Thanks again for posting the number but I actually have it in my phone from your original post and check twice daily. The other issue is mine went into build before the issue with the part number was known, or I would have canceled.

I suspect now I will have to badger my rep on Monday, since one can't cancel using the online system once it's in build. If there is any truth to the 5870's coming soon, I might hold off if the order gets cancelled, or wrangle them on the price over this debacle

I am sitting on an m15x, I may plead my need for a laptop while waiting for the other as well... I'm playing with fire on the RMA at this point but I really do need a laptop NOW.

 

They fixed my order without having to cancel it. I had the wrong number for the dvd drive and then I checked it again and it was switched to the correct one. So you could call your rep and make sure it gets done. I wouldnt cancel before I talked to a rep. Thats just my opinion, just trying to help.

 

Curious, it sounds like yours got changed without any action on your part... if mine hasn't changed I will definitely call them in the morning.

Update: Just checked again, still says build stage and part number shows online as the same - bah!

 

I did talk to a rep a few days after I ordered. She put me on hold for a while then came back and upgraded me to NBD shipping. Maybe when she put me on hold she fixed my order or cancelled it and resubmitted it. Its wierd that I called just to check my status and she offered next day shipping. I am just speculating that when called in she noticed the bad part number and fixed it. I was in boxing 2 days later.

2nd person I've seen so far that doesn't have RGB LED. So has anyone received a shipping notification tonight? I'm hoping Dell creates the label for some of us tonight and it starts tracking by tomorrow morning.

 

Checked again and still in build. I called Dell and they had no idea what I was talking about with the drive issue and said there wouldn't be any delays with my order.

 

i did the same Quail. I'm gonna be raising hell on the phone come Monday. They said they would call me if there were any delays or problems with the order, but they reassured me that i was still on schedule for my 2/4 EDD. Of course the next day i check my order status again and now have an "updated" EDD of 2/11 and the bad DVD drive is STILL there.....I'm gonna make them cancel the order unless they give me something else in exchange....

Jose, your order says 4gb 1066 but your sig says 1333, are you upgrading manually or did they screw up your order?

 

my ETA is still shipping 2/15 arriving 2/16. I'm crossing my fingers to have it by 2/5 though.
