You are completely right. The problem is they didn't cancel everyone's order. I had the screwed up drive but didn't have the order canceled until I called in on the day it was supposed to be shipped (today) to ask why it hadn't. Dell seems like it lost track of the earliest orders and left them in limbo, while people who ordered later immediately had their order canceled and reordered.

I think you're giving the Dell Reps alot of credit. lol. That's really is horse$%!^ that they didn't inform their customers ((Slash Paychecks)) about a screw up. Though it makes me happy I had some unforeseen bills hit me when they did or I would've been in the same boat. Is it the 19th yet?
Did they give you an update in shipping for your trouble? Because that's just sickening. -
Yes, I used the exact word "limbo" on the phone too, I don't think they knew what it even meant which might explain the problems in customer service at Dellienware

Well that just doesn't make any sense. Dell is really screwing up lately. Hopefully, the laptops exceed expectations to make it worth the wait.

I ordered with a the i540m also. So maybe some cominations take more production time than others. Maybe the higher spec cpus are coming in slower than the others. Who knows. I am SURE they dont just pick and choose which machine to build. There has to a reason to hold one order behind another. It seems like the builds with higher specs seem to remain in build longer than others. Who know. The good new is peoples laptops are shipping. So I am sure it wont be long for everyone. I remember reading the thread on the origonal R1 M17X. That seemed like way more of a nightmare than our orders have been.

I've never liked Apples computers. If I'm going to be paying top dollar for a computer it better be able to play games. That and I think there products are ugly.

This dvd part number debacle is something they should have actively remedied right away. Instead of cancellations they could have easily revised orders and kept people's place in line. I'm just glad I ordered another system thanks to the 5% coupon so I didn't need/want my original order (that ended up being canceled) anymore. I hope those of you that are stuck w/the wrong part number get it sorted out.

After 2 hours on the phone to figure out why my R2 says it was shipped Dec1 online and on the automated phone line I was informed the estimated delivery date was feb 22nd. I ordered on release day BTW
I have a tracking number for the shipment and everything already and it has said "billing info received" for the last 6 days.
No one has it as bad as me right now Haha -
They never gave an update and I had to call in to correct. When I reordered the rep said the prelim ship date would be the 2/16 with overnight, however when the order went through he said the ETA was now 2/3, so i'll know in the next day or so if it will ship. Not keeping my hopes up though.

If I were you guys I would call dell again, assuming that your laptops should have shipped already and have the slot loaded drive listed. My first customer service rep didn't understand why my computer wasn't shipped but after he did some poking around he did. He directed me to call this line 1 877 868 3355 which apparently deals with shipping delays. If delayed the rep will allow you to cancel the order.

Your implying that I bought them (sxps 16/g73) for myself is the funny part. The Studio XPS 16 is right here, I'm typing on it. She didn't want the G73 in the end so I canceled the pre-order for her. The Sager was mine, it was defective so it was sent back, no mystery there. As for Asus G51, it's no mystery I hated it even when I owned it. M15x..awesome machine (even though I disliked it's design initially but it grew on me), would've kept it had there been RGB LED. So tell me, which laptop besides Asus have I been consistent about not liking? The Sager, while defective, has still been recommended by me even if I rib Soviet about it here and there. I'm quite consistent with what I say and do. Now go make me a footlong..extra mustard. -
I don't know how this works, but I ordered late. Didn't place my order till this past Sunday morning and my EDD is till 2/2. Did I just get lucky or are they going to suddenly switch it to the 21st or something.... I am cautiously optimistic i think.

Thats pretty much what happened with me, I ordered on Saturday, after canceling my M15x, and they had a ship date of the 1st of Feb, with next day shipping it is suppose to get here by tomorrow. I don't think its gonna happen, lol.

Well initially I used whatever sales number they have listed on their website as point of entry into their tangled mess of customer service. I reached a dead end when the person (don't remember their vague and empty job title or name for the matter) told me that my order couldn't be canceled and no changes could be made even after I pointed out that my system was still in build which goes along with their service agreement on their website. The lady actually told me my order was "lost" what a joke.
After some R&D of my own on none other than Dell's own support forums I found a different number to call and the guy gave me no trouble at all canceling. 1-800-247-2078
^ Story of my life except I've already reordered. I got an upgrade to 1 year complete care warranty and Windows 7 Ult. I also dropped a little extra money of my own to go from 1066 to 1333MHz memory

A lot of people who have been ordering in the past few days since Friday have had odd ship dates like 2/2, 2/3, 2/4 which seem unrealistic. Mine got reordered on Friday and showed an estimated delivery date of 2/2 which I didn't put much faith in. I called tonight and spoke with a Dell rep, she called over and found out that they changed my date and its now 2/9. Its still not actually updated on the order status page however. So most likely anyone that ordered since last Friday will be in the same boat.
