Crap, my order was re-entered on 1/28 as well, but I'm still in build. Anyone else who ordered on 1/28 in boxing?

 

Any ETA from Canada?

 

My original order was the 18th, got cancelled, got it reentered with some free upgrades for my ''patience"" on the 29th.. still in production. as someone already asked, any unpacking pics yet guys ??

As long as you buy the 3 year support you can transfer the warranty, however, you will cant transfer the accidental support so dont pay the extra for it

SWEET !!! now I'm jealous !!! On the phone right now with Dell so they upgrade my shipping method from Canada Standard to next day shipment with purolator for free.

 

Now I am angry they gave me nothing for the cancelation of my order

 

Well, they didn't "offered" it to me for free, I spent 2 hours on the phone, being transfered to half a dozen reps, complaining at each of them before they offered something. You gotta fight for freebies, they won't hand them over if they think they can get away with the mess they did. And right now, I am fighting to get a faster shipping... let's see if it works...

 

And I m happy u get something from them cause they always think they can get away with their mess

 

They just delayed my order from the 4th to the 12th, I have next day shipping, what else is there to ask for?

Ok - that's irritating - i ordered mine with similar specs to your on 1/17 and i'm not any further along than i was last week

On my Order status, I got bumped from Feb 5 to feb 24 with my new order, with a free upgrade from 4GB DDR3 1333Mhz to 6GB DDR3 1333MHz and my HD from 250GB to 320GB. But on the phone, the guys says I'll prob get it closer to Feb 14-16... still waiting for my answer for a free next day shipping for all the trouble...

 

and I don't know if its real or not, but they say that ALL orders wich got cancelled and reentered are treated faster than usual orders... so if it's not specified on your new order that its an order to replace a cancelled ones, I suggest you to call them and fix it... I don't know if it's gonna change anything, but its worth a try...

 

If you're going by the website, don't -- it isn't updated frequently, and the bulid and boxing stages are only listed as "In Production".

Call: 1-800-283-2210 and select options 3, 2, 1, 1
(Even if you've ordered a home system, still select Business/EPP)

Then the order status system will tell you if it's in build or boxing. Also, you can't trust the estimated ship and/or delivery dates until you have an actual tracking number. They are basically meaningless at this point.

 

What DVDRW part # is listed on your order? Folks are reporting problems if it's not (313-8977 8X DVD+/-RW Dual Layer Drive,QuickSilver).

 

False promises! Never trust those dudes on the phone. You'll probably get a shoebox full of bricks with an IOU tucked inside. And you'll probably get it on the 24th of August.

 

On mine the CPU overclocking is grayed out. Is that due to my type of CPU?

Ok - Got someone on the phone. I have a NEW order number... and now my EDD is 2/9/2010 with FREE next day shipping (which I didn't even ask for)

Since I'm new to this site (only found it yesterday) - what is a R1 vs. R2 model of the M17x?

 

R1 is the Core 2 version, R2 the Core i7.

R1: the first All powerfull, had a Core2duo/quad processor (and started with Nvidia cards 260/280m's, and got ATI's 4870 after a while).

R2: the second All powerfull, is the current and has an i7/i5 CPU.

 

wow, those that get cancelled and reordered after me gets better EDD !!! my second order was done Jan 29, but I get an EDD for Feb 24... DELL orders are really screwed up ! When will I be able to get back to Darkfall !!! WHEEEENNNN !!! /cry

 

It just seems that Dell will automatically estimate these at 3 weeks after you order, both of my R2 orders did. It's a pretty safe bet you'll have it at least 1 week before that unless something is back ordered.

I just hit boxing! My reorder was on 1/29 and my new ETA is 2/9. Hope maybe it'll come sooner.

 

Props to Dell for getting these out pretty quick (by Dell's standards anyway).

Well, I finally just got fed up, canceled my order with the bad dvd part number and started over. Upgraded processor with i7 820, got 3% more off + $50.00 more off plus "expediting" and NBD delivery. Preliminary ETA 02/4 (in my dreams), so I am not expecting to see it till next week sometime.

A tip to anyone that had the same problem, no rep I talked to knew about the problem, one guy "Arun" claimed to know about the problem but I am pretty sure he was lying, finally the folks at Dell Financial Services were aware and even quoted back to me what the problem was before I finished explaining myself. Sounds like they might be the best alternative at this point if anyone is still having an order sitting there with the old part number.

 

I ordered on 2/1 as well with an ETA of 2/3...I called again today and a rep said it had been pushed back to 2/24

Yeah, based on the experiences here I figured the 2-day ETA is just some B.S. their system is spitting out, again, based on others experiences I bet you get it a week earlier at least. I don't seriously expect mine to show up next week, but maybe the week after....

 

No I ordered it through the US website. I am going back for the Chinese new year.

 

Sigh, now people who re-ordered after me are hitting boxing before me. And my dog just chewed up my other laptop's ac adapter today, so I have 0 working computers at the moment. Man, this year couldn't get off to a worse start if it tried

Same here, got stolen the week-end before christmas, they took my laptop, Ipod, camera, and others electronics I had at my computer desk. I have no computer since then !!! so this cancellation and new wait is killing me !!!

I am getting better replacement from my insurance... but the waiting is baaaaad

 

i ordered mine on 1/21 just went into boxing today. about how many days in boxing stage? i got NBD so i was just kinda curious as to when to expect it

I called the 1-800-283-2210 options 3, 2, 1, 1 to find it was in boxing a bit ago.

 

3-4 days on avg. Check it over the weekend, Dell will kick it to shipped on a Sat or Sun if it's ready. Tracking may not work work until the following Mon.
