DR650SE would be the one to pm hes stationed in iraq right now.
-
I asked politely, there was no bullying involved
But seriously, i explained the rep that my order was delayed and currently i am without a laptop and i REAALLY need one right now..
He put a request for NBD and after 30 minutes i saw it in my order status -
I got a free upgrade to NBD as well, but if they keep pushing my ship date back, i'll still end up getting my system in march, lol.
-
The rep resubmitted my order, sent me an email confirmation with new order number
Also got an extra year of warranty tossed in for my pain and suffering
-
wouldn't count on that new EDD
-
^
yup. Dell's EDD's for the R2 are all messed up. -
Hey - it's better than WHO KNOWS!
Actually talking to a rep made a huge difference - i should know by tomorrow afternoon if 2/11 will hold -
good luck
just don't be disappointed because ppl here wait 2-3 weeks on average to hit boxing.... -
My original order date was 1/17 so i've BEEN waiting... and I clearly explained that to the rep.. I think he understood..
-
LOL!
I can imagine your conversation -
Ordered mine today and was told a feb 25th delivery.
-
Ours are twins
Great minds think alike or what ? -
Well mine is in, but the power adapter is DOA. The need to switch back to Delta Electronics adapters. I keep seeing info on how the Flextronics ones aren't that good.
-
can one purchase a custom power supply that is better than the stock one ?
-
hahahaha. i didnt notice...but way cool
-
It was good actually. He took my 2nd order (my original was canceled), said he would go check inventory and call me back in 10min
Then in 10min he did, said everything was available and entered my 3rd order
They must get a commission because he was more helpful than anyone i've talked to over there -
Dellieware amazes me, you are getting better treatment than I am from a lowly "escalation team" member... are you with the government or some such?
-
I cannot confirm or deny such information
-
my order was shipped today do u think i still have time to upgrade to nbd?
-
No, it's too late, shipping means the carrier has it and it's on the way to you already, sorry.
-
Got a call from FedEx today. They said my package wil be delievered by 3PM tomorrow.
I guess my resolution rep did a good job! -
Well I finally got it and so far this thing is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!
-
You have the 920XM, Any Stuttering? Throttling? Flickering?
-
yes 920xm , Seems to run fine playing l4d2 (with everything maxed out) so far so good
-
Mine is still in production, been over a week now, EDD is Friday, I hope it goes to boxing soon without any more delays.
-
HOPE AT LAST!!!
-
Dual cards or single?
-
Yea dual???
-
Luigo, post your experience with your system, I've got mine today, and I'm on the flickering hell issue.. When Xfire is on, everygame is ed up. Unplayable, I hope you get best luck.
-
how in the hell did AW not run 1 Game before shipping this crap i dont get it you would think that at least 1 employee would be a gamer. How can this be.
-
dual it just wouldn't make sence for me to get a single lol.
-
Interesting... Congrats on being the first to get no flicker with a 920xm
-
Daniel, did you get the RBG?
-
No I didn't that was the one thing I forgot to get but thats fine by me this screen I really like. Its just like my visio tv nice and crisp.
you know now that I think about it that could be a possible issue the rgb i mean. not that I am even remotley an expert in computers but I am not having issues and as far as I know I am the only one with an lcd. don't know just speculating I am sure that ren joker or mandrake know way more than I do. -
That's interesting because you're the first 920 to not have any flickering and the fact that you don't have RGB might mean it has something to do with that...

My order was due to ship today, so I stayed up to midnight PST to see what would happen. . .
Sure enough, I just received an email from Dell stating that my order is going to be cancelled unless I accept a new ship date that's nearly into the month of March. This marks the third time my order has been delayed and at this point I question whether they can even deliver on this new date either.
I dunno how the hell a company the size of Dell, with the immense resources they have at their disposal, can completely fail such a high profile release as this - but one thing is clear - they've done it, and it's about as amateur as it gets.
Parts shortages, misconfigured raid arrays, defective power supplies, throttling, glitching machines running rampant . . . a recent history of all these issues with prior system versions and variants, this is pretty much the epitome of the opposite reasons of why I threw down $3.5k on an Alienware for.
Holy hell, they're making ASUS look like the industry leaders here, and that's saying something - there may very well be more, happier, satisfied G73 owners out there than M17x owners very soon. I mean damn, for $1500 less it might just be possible to get something no amount of cash at Dell seems to get you - a system that does what it's supposed to right out of the box.
Of course, time will tell, but there will be some nasty corporate egg on the faces at dell if ASUS can pull it off.
I'm gonna sleep on it, but I may just let this order lapse. . . I dunno, as amazing as the M17x could be and should be, I remain unconvinced that it'll see it's potential this time around.
Hopefully Wednesday brings good news for us all. -
Wow, and yet others like myself are getting theirs this week after ordering them the end of January. Maybe those of us that got resolution reps working on getting our orders expedited and those that had orders previously canceled due to the CD drive issue are pushing everyone else back a couple weeks?
-
Hmmm...and you got the 820 as well? If so, you are only the 2nd person I have seen with a flickering problem with the 820s (as far as I have read).
I will definitely be firing it up this evening and checking it out, so I will let you know how it goes. -
Ok It's delivering now so I will test and see if I have the flickering problem
-
I would like to think that as one of those who canceled due to the original DVD drive SNAFU on Dellienwares part and had to cancel (thanks to the head up here, no thanks to Dell) that my order was pushing others back, but from what I understand it comes down to orders being processed in a queue, based on the parts list for that order being on hand.
Your rep might be able to argue you higher on the chain, but essentially, your order as I understand it is put into a group with other orders with a super-set of the parts you ordered, with the total numbers of parts for all the orders coming very close to what inventories they have on hand or are due to be delivered within a soft time frame at the factory which is what the original ETA is derived from.
Being "expedited" I think just means that say for a 1000 orders, you might move from the 998th postion to the back of the line in the hot list of orders that can be done first, say within the first hundred. This would move your order up by several days. Note that these are made up numbers to illustrate the process, I suspect an order queue is more likely to be 5000 or so, possibly 10000, just a guess.
Being "escalated" involves a rep meeting with factor reps to discuss "orders". Now, I am under no illusions that MY order means any more than little Hasib in Tunisia for instance and I doubt is even referenced by the order number directly in conversation, only that that the rep tries to fill a group of escalated orders with the factory to use stock that is left over from cancellations, delays, etc. I am purely speculating at this point, there may be no difference between a casual "expedite" and an escalation to the "hot sheet" as it was described to me, anyone with more understanding on this point PLEASE speak up, I am geeky enough that I find supply chains to be a stimulating subject.
I suspect the seasoned reps that some are dealing with here are either well-connected and get an internal priority on their orders (within a block) or are keener on the system than others. Technical understanding and acumen is not something I count on from sales weasels, uh reps, but getting your stuff in a timely fashion is, but they are limited by the inventory and order fulfillment limitations of Dell. -
Like you I was also put on the "hotlist" according to my rep. Not sure if that made a difference or not.

Quick question
I ordered my M17xR2 with (1) 250GB SATA drive - my plan was to get a SSD down the road.
My question is: does the 2nd drive bay come ready to take a drive? or is there a caddy i need to order? I think i've seen people say theirs came with one, but some didn't?
Thanks -
yep, it's been a mixed bag. If you don't get it, call and complain.
-
Ordered 2/4/10 est. del. 2/15/10 nbd
but when i call and check order status on the automated system it says processing whats the deal with that?
AwHw -
Woohoo! Fedex just dropped mine off and now the box is sitting next to me
Tonight or tomorrow I should be able to test to see if my 920xm has the same flickering issue others are seeing. -
