As i thought. There doing all orders in batches instead of like priority. Not the kinda way i would run a production line facility.

 

Today I called to check on my status and they told me that I have 2 components backordered. One is the 500GB 7200rpm hard drive and she didn't know what the second one was. I assume it's the RGB LED.

 

eww if you get yours before me vradev im ganna call and get my rep fired lol but ill praise you

 

Who do you call to get such detailed info? I just got off the phone with tech support and they said nothing for my system was on backorder.
I have a 920xm, LED RGB, 2- 256SSD, Xfire, 8gb 1333

 

I have a replacment coming and the staus is "boxing stage". However the rep says the screen is a backordered part. So how could it be in boxing if it doesnt have an LCD panel? Lol Dell really needs to work on this its kinda funny but still makes me mad.

 

I called the EPP number 1-800-695-8133 and talked to some rep (somewhere in India) but who knows if the backorder info she gave me was true. Sometimes the Dell reps are full of ......

 

Who do i believe?

A Internet forum rumor?

not sure. to me it makes no sense for dell to be a major computer maker to be out of parts.

 

M17x arrived ... I fired it up and the screen is beyond words...

 

lol I figured that would be your reaction. So does it smoke the G73 screen? I'm betting on a yes. I have a brand new RGB LED screen sitting in a box in my living room. The Dell dispatcher sent it to my apartment instead of the Miami headquarters, fun stuff! At least now I'll be getting my 2 dead pixel screen replaced out of this entire ordeal.

Well I was reading some reactions to the G73 screen and one that caught my attention was from someone describing it as one of the best he's seen and even as good or better than some HDTVs. He likened the quality to a Sony RGB LED at which point my eyes began to roll. If he thought the hann starr display was that impressive, he'd probably be over the moon if he saw the M17x RGB LED.

 

FWIW, quad did say the G73's LCD was as nice as the TLA2 in his M17. Pretty darn good for a affordable system.

But, yeah RGBLED is much better as we know. But it should be for a $250 upgrade

 

Yes the G73 is very nice and again its all based on what your getting for your $$...

The M17x screen is just not in the same league ....

If you never saw the RGB LED you would be very happy with the G73 screen i would say but now that i saw it WHOA!!! ...

 

I am dying to get my system... after ordering on 1/14, having my order cancelled and re-ordered on 2/2 due to the CD drive part number fiasco... I just got off the phone and was told that I was being delayed yet again due to a parts shortage!! They could not tell me what parts, just that my system was delayed, of course they could not tell me for how long either...

I am hoping that I honestly don't have to wait another month for this thing.

 

Well how about my ETA. It was ordered 9 february and my ETA is 24th february

thx, well i went directly in production fase so because its a replacement so i skipped a few fases. probably why my ETA is so fast.

 

Ordered on the 4th and have the same ETA. I guess they have a delay on some component and this is the next ETA for the batch of whatever (screens by the sounds of things?) to come in.

 

same ordered on the 4th my projected date is the 26th my rep dosent know the reason his supervisor dosent know the reason and neither do the dudes in india! They even keep telling me tht the 26th is still an estimate and it holds no real world value so the EDD must be ???? we dont run our company very well but hey we have your funds on lock down now sucker!!! Its like charlie and the choclate factory all over again everyday i make the phone call or check my email

 

Delta, I was told on the phone that all AW orders were on hold. Now, I don't believe that, but they are having serious supply issues it seems. Be glad you're getting it this month !

 

After receiving the G73 my M17xR2 is NOT going back.

Speaking of my M17xR2 I received a call from my rep saying the DVD drives are back-ordered until the 22nd but they hope they will get some before that.

 

Is there anyone here who placed their orders for M17x-R2 in February (from the Dell US site only) and has already hit "boxing" or "shipped" status?

 

my laptop says its arrived in australia hub for the last 3 days, does it really take that long to get it to the local deliveray service and to my house? i mean comon! give me the address i will go and pick it up myself.

 

Happy to get it this month? We will all be lucky to get it this month. The guy from india said we are having issues with components for all of our laptops and you might even have the date pushed back to march... i said this if this date moves again ill just drop the 2k on a new tv from SONY..

 

Not I, order placed Jan 16th, auto-canceled, replaced Feb 2nd and still in the "build" stage

 

Well this evening I got my second call from Dell since ordering my M17x-R2. This time the person could offer me some discounts which was nice. So unfortunatly I have gotten a later ship date but I managed to save $370 more so it was worth the extra time.

I am now looking an EDD of 3/5 .

i ordered on jan 31st im taking delivery tomorrow, it was supposed to be here today but due to bad weather conditions in the northeast my package was delay

 

I ordered a replacment on the 3rd and am now in boxing. However my rep says they are out of the lcd screens till the 22nd. So how can it be in boxing if they are out of screens? So who do I believe the rep or the automated order line.

 

Ordered 2/10 estimated arrival 2/16! <---- thats crazy

What!! no way. I thought people were only getting delayed orders because of the screen they ordered and being outside US. I have the standard lcd screen and i live in michigan

 

Yes. The reps are clueless sometimes.

If the phone status says boxing, then your system is on it's way to one of Delll's fulfillment centers to be shipped to you.

Is that because the screen is nothing compared to the M17x, or because the performance on the G73 is subpar?

 

It all depends on what your ordered... the M15x I have now was ordered on 01/09 and was in my hands by 01/16, so its _possible_ if you get lucky. But the reality is it will likely be delayed a week or so at least.

 

I'm also guessing you didn't pick NBD shipping when you ordered...which tells me that it's just the standard EDD that gets spit out right when the order goes in. I know because after they canceled my first order, I ordered on Feb 2nd with NBD shipping and it gave me a quote of EDD of the 4th...then on the morning of the 4th, I got the dreaded delay email to Feb 19th...and now it's looking like it might be longer...so don't be too disappointed if it gets pushed back 2 - 3 weeks.

 

Well I called yesterday at 9am. I always use my Frist Order number not the second one so the Reps always see when I frist order my system. Well after it a very popular system to I dont know to there many people ordering this system. I just told the lady I need to talk to someone who know what the issue is. Well he look and saying it the two 620gb hd 7200 rpm in Raid 0. I ask is there anything else delayed and was told no.

I think Dell really screwed up Alienware. I think the Small companys are Great becuse they can work one on one and not have a Traffic jam of issues like the delayed issues.

 

It just sounds the reps are trying to shake us off and they randomly choose a part of our spec and say it's backordered.

 

Has more to do with build quality.

 

I will be calling in a few days and find out if they give me a differnt reason. But I am not letting them use the excuse you order at so and so date. Mybe try on the 17th.

I have seen core i7 720 on here also 8gb ddr3 1333 and rbg led screens. But no one with dual 620 gb hard drives.

 

actually, as far as i know, 640GB 7200rpm drives do not exist. It was a mistake on their part to put those in the config at all unless they know something we don't. I thought they will just put 640/5400 and compensate the users for the mistake. If they really are going to wait for 640gb 7200rpm drives, who knows when they will come out ?

 

Although I wish I had added more options, this business with all the stories from the reps is why I posted the poll on what we're hearing. The assumption being that the highest reported backlog of the part(s) is what the real culprit is.

I was told by my "escalation rep" that the Alienware mothership was stuck in the Mutari nebula which is why all the systems are on backorder.... apparently the Greys had a problem with their navigation system throttling under load - LOL

 

Well since everything has locked up I just called in to upgrade my system - upgraded to the RGB screen since everyone keeps drooling over it

Also went with a SSD - added $300 to my order... on hold right now as I have asked for additional discounts

EDIT: They're going to call me back. My current discount rate is 3.4% - would like to see it near 6%

 

I'd raise heck with them considering you KNOW you are going to have to wait longer than usual due to supply issues. Considering Dell's laxity on the ordering and updating process I wouldn't hesitate to create another Gmail account and get a sub to the newsletter for $50.00 off, in fact it's the same code if it's still active.

Also, it is the RBG LED that is the only thing at this point NOT making me just cancel my order and keep this M15x permanently - based on everyone's comments, I think the screen for watching HD stuff and awesome gaming and ... uh photos will just rock

 

I called the order info number three time. Everytime I call I get a different date. First it said march 11th then feb 26 and now it says feb 17th lol. It is in the boxing stage so who know. This is fun.

 

Well since i modified my order i basically have a new order now - my new EDD is 3/10/2010

They threw in a printer - thanks? I asked if they could keep the printer and throw in a 2nd AC adapter - she's checking now.....
