Woot just canceled my second in production order! I'm holding out for the 5870's for sure.

 

You cancelled or Dell cancelled?

 

I canceled. The rep told me it would ship within 3 days. I used that as my excuse to cancel.

 

The fact they pretty much guaranteed to you it'll ship within a short amount of time was what you used as an excuse to cancel?

Am I missing something?

 

Yes that does sound a bit odd, I think his must have been one of the madly delayed orders to start with.

Since I have complete care on the M15x I may have to drive over it one night if they won't take it back.... once the Uber-rig they mentioned to Joker comes out.

Me: "I need to use my Complete Care, sir, my laptop isn't working"

Dell: "Thank you for using Dell, what is wrong with the laptop?"

Me: "Dude, it is under my car, I fell asleep gaming in my driveway last night and got up to go to work and backed over it.... it happens, you know?"

Dell: "I see. What is your support number?"...

 

I'm suprised everyone that has been pushed, pushed, and then pushed again isn't doing this. We've waited this long, may as well wait for the 5870's and Direct X11. The people who receive the 4870 model (if they ever do) are going to be mad in a month or two when the 5870 comes out.

I now get daily calls asking if I still want my 5 week old order that Dell could never deliver! Morons.

I am done arguing my dislike of the M15x. I know you really liked it, but that is what makes us different as a species - opinions, likes, dislikes, etc.

You also quoted part of my post, which is somewhat misleading as I went on to say why I was disappointed and also how stoked I was when I found the service manual.

The Asus is just a different machine. It has a rubberized feel to it - not a cheap paint job that was a fingerprint magnet like the M15x<-- Whoops. Another dislike.

I ordered it on 2/12 and the rep told me the edd of 3/19 was just computer generated and it should ship out within a few days. I called and told customer service that I needed the computer for work and can't wait until 3/19. The girl I talked to said because of "massive amounts of orders" Dell could not guarantee anything before 3/19. So I just said I'd like to cancel and will have to find another solution. She said that was fine and canceled it without charge. I would really hate to get the dual 4870's and a week or even a month later have the 5870's come out. I realize that tech is ever changing and you could wait forever and ever due to new products, but I think that the vid card is a pretty big step up in the grand scheme of things.

 

ZOMG that PSU is uber!!!!! on a side note im fine with the 4870's when the 5870's come out ill be in the desert with plenty of tax free cashflow to pick up new ones and plenty of desperate fellow soldiers to unload the 4870's on plus the games i want to play will work perfectly on the 4870's

 

I'm in the same boat as you with an eta of 3/17 and no laptop for work. I had to go to costco to pick something up to use until it arrives. Even if the 5870's were to come out you probably wouldn't be able to get one until late April or early May, which is a full two months away. I agree its a big step but i guess that's the trade off with getting a gaming laptop that is really expensive to upgrade.

 

Hey Mr. Neutron, how's the power supply work? Any flickering to be seen on the invisible laptop just yet?

 

awwww man is this thing sweet!!! It's on my desk and you cannot even hear it running!!!

Originally a 23-02-10 estimated delivery date...got an email saying that it would be a 5-6 week delay due to a parts shortage...

confirmed on 2/22 restocking of parts on dell community site post that i made earlier. so i guess we'll be getting ours a bit after that. i'm still going to call and complain about my 2/23 date and see if they throw in some goodies.

 

Gl all i got was a 8GB USB drive.

because there are about 4 more ppl who also said that their dell rep told them of the 2/22 restocking schedule. which basically confirms it. i hope.

My rep reduced my ETA from 6 weeks to 4-5 weeks time...yippee YAY!!!...yes I'm being a bit sarcastic lol but I suppose it is better than 6wks...

 

Woo hoo my system is actually in the boxing stage, maybe it'll actually make the latest EDD (Feb 19th). Been a long 5 weeks...now just waiting to see if I get a Fed Ex delivery confirmation.

Nice, grats The annoying thing about NZ Dell is that even if I ring them up for automated order status, they won't go into the detail of what stage of 'in production' it is in (e.g. boxing etc).

 

What the NZ number and how do you check your orders. I add it to the frist part of the page.
