yes it does...I kinda like the idea of the anodized aluminum over plastic.

 

LED backlighting is a big thing right now with tv's and computer monitors. At some point, LED's will be the standard until something new comes along.

Rather than just having a bulb or two that provide the backlighting, these monitors have an array of tons of led bulbs that provide more even lighting and brighter colors. It's definitely worth paying for, and you made a good choice getting it.

 

If you like giving a billion dollar company who's stiffing us and lying to us about our orders 15% of 3,000 or 4,000 dollars, be my guest. I'd rather take that 15% and donate it to starving children, but that's just me. Sometimes, honesty is retarded.

 

Well I got news( i think) I called to hear whats the status of my laptop and it said it was currently in the boxing stage.

How long is the boxing stage takes?

 

I've read here some where 2 or 3 days, but that could be wrong

Kinda makes no sense at all...Order first = get first thats how it should be... I called them a few times thats probably why they delayed it

Yeah I believe 3 days was how long mine was in the boxing stage...so seems to be pretty standard.

 

The screen on the G73 is nice but suffers from below average viewing angles. The RGBLED does not and is brighter and has more accurate colors.

 

but my eta is 3/10, whats the chances of getting it earlier?

My M17x-R2 order now shows shipping along with an email but still no tracking number.... I *should* get it Tuesday... wish I could be "sick" that day but I have a morning cut-over at work to do

I've been so frustrated about the process that it has taken some of the excitement out of it... now I'm just happy to get it even if it only has 4870's now. Had it been delayed again I was surely going to cancel and wait.... I suspect it will be 6-8 weeks before the 5870's ship IF Dellienware has it's business together.

Now if that sucker is flickering and the 5870's are announced and ready for orders soon it's going straight back

 

5870s are meant to come out Early March for the US and Mid March for Australia. So i assume they will be out soon (Or they'll be out at the same time. Im not sure)

 

can you imagine how many refurb m17x's are going to be available after they are posted for sale! Dell is going to be inundated with order cancellations and returns...lol I bet they are looking forward to that!

Im going to be so mad if mine ships then the next day the 5870's come out.

But screw it, the dual 4870s will do it for me as im going from a 5 year old single ati x1800 to dual current gpus.

 

I doubt the 5870's will be available that soon, and considering all the back orders dell is having right now I think its safe to assume they wont ship until at least mid April.

 

What are the chances that I get mine on time this time?

Have you called the order status line to see what stage of production it is in, i.e. boxing? Sometimes the website doesn't get updated and the item ships before you even get the tracking number. If you have next day delivery there is still the chance of getting it by 2/24

EDIT : I do have NBD, but didn't people here say that just the boxing is 3 days ?

 

Its strange I ordered my first r2 on 2/1 and got it on 2/10, but I just noticed you still haven't received yours even though you ordered the same day. Perhaps its all that memory that's holding you back

When I reordered the r2 on 2/14 my rep said that all the back ordered parts for my system wouldn't be available until around the 2/23

Edit: I believe 3 days for boxing sounds right but to be honest with the way dell has been flaky with some these orders it wouldn't surprise me if their system wasn't updated. I guess in a day and a half you can call in to see if it indeed has shipped...

 

Yeah. My rep told me it's the rgbled that is holding my order and that they will get a new stock on 2/22.
I am so tired of waiting at this point...

 

Yeah I know how you feel. I first ordered in January and have so far sent two back, with the 3rd not due until sometime in March. I have been forced to buy a "temporary" laptop from costco for work.

BTW, whereabouts in Israel are you located?

 

Why did you return two of them ? Were they faulty? You can imagine how extremely sad it will be to get it here in Israel just to find that it is faulty.

The first was the r1 which I returned as soon as it arrived because of the r2. The second had bunch of issues including some burned out led's and scratches.

I spent 2 weeks this past summer in Israel, visited Haifa, Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. It was a pretty awesome trip, but way too hot...

Yeah My rep said 19th he sent a email to the Factory for a new ETA but i never got it. I cant even check for my Status the Order Status system is Offline on the Web and though the phone which makes my blood boil.

 

Cool! I love Israel too but soon I will be moving to Brazil-mt wife is from there and we decided to move. Do you have a family here ?

 

The online order status still shows my order 123985209344 or whatever Cancelled, and not even my new order :/

 

ya, you have to find a screen to enter your new order number otherwise I also get a screen with my canceled orders only...

Does anyone know the work schedules at the assembly facilities? 5 day week? 7 day week? Multiple shifts?

FWIW, the AW M17x site is showing 9 day delays for the RGB LED and 5 day delays on the 4870s (regardless of configuration) for new orders. Don't know how this relates to fulfillment of pending orders, but the components causing delays are consistent with what the reps are telling us.

 

Still stuck on "Order Received" This is really starting to tick me off, Now were going into the fourth week of bs.

 

What has customer service told you? I know canceling and reordering wouldn't be too pleasant, but if its still in limbo you might consider it.

 

My Rep said my status won't change till the part is in Stock, I already know the "Part" should be in stock cause a guy who lives in my country said he got his ETA on Thursday, so I don't know whats going on. I'm gonna go on there chat thing and see if i can get more compensation 50 dollars isn't enough.

 

My rep saying I should be getting my laptop on the 24th. But I am still on Production stage.

At least you guys are in Production. Mine won't even move to that. Nor do i have a ETA, so now i have to go on dell chat and rage quit about it.
