List everyone M17x-R2 ETA

Does anyone else have a customer care rep handling their case? I ask simply because it seems like they should be higher up but twice now my rep has promised to have the laptop shipped out by the end of the week and twice has been delayed. More hopeful for this friday since she told me specifically that the Intel 6300 was the delay and according to you guys it should be in this week if not already today.

You should be good with that configuration. Don't let all these posts scare you. I love my R2 and am very happy with it. No problems at all and it's the best laptop I have ever owned.

 

Euh small update lol. I went to check again to see if anything changed since this morning. The rep already told me that he had other information displayed then me. It now says that his has been shipped.

 

Hmm I had to badger mine into giving me anything. I was offered $50 coupon, but declined since people are getting $100 accessories in this thread, and said I want more. I was told that I would be called by the customer care rep's immediate supervisor after my system had shipped to negotiate a better freebie. It seems like after the system has shipped they will be much less likely to offer anything. Do you think I should wait till it ships and try to negotiate or push for them to do something now?

 

I say do it now. Hard to believe they will give you anything more if the laptop ships. Now you have "leverage" and you should use it. I asked for razer mamba mouse and my rep promised to try and authorize it. Hope he will..

 

Should be no issues with that config, though I would've gone w/ 4GB RAM and spend the difference on xfire ATIs. You can easily upgrade the RAM down the road for less. Depends on what you're using the system for, though.

 

I really wish Dell's site would show my recent order and not my canceled one :/

I also wish the phone number my rep gave me didn't go to an automated machine

I agree, drop the extra RAM and go for the 2nd card if gaming is your thing... OR keep the RAM and buy a pair of 5870's down the road. One nice thing with one card now is you have no flickering and you can unload it without much loss and upgrade to the 5870's. I'd pretty much forget about ever doing a tradeup on the video card with Dell, it's not worth the loss.

I haven't gotten any update today and my automated girlfriend keeps telling me i'm still in the build stage

 

I just got a call from an EPP customer care manager she said the RGBs should be in today but not sure if there is enough to fulfill all recent orders.. She is sending a message to the factory team to see if my order will be built.. I ordered 2/4/10

Maybe this will give everybody an idea of whats going on.

My reg rep had her call because I told him I may cancel. I was given a $75 coupon so far for the delays, but now I have a manager calling me I'll try for more.

 

i also ordered mine on the 4th, it better be on the build list or ill lose my damn mind this time around.

 

same, i ordered on the 2nd and i'm still in production stage -.- and i've been delayed to the 26th from the 23rd. as well. No one contacted me to tell me about the 2nd delay and i'm so pissed.

 

Finally got the tracking information from FedEx, will be delivered tomorrow!

 

I orderd on the Feb 4th and my EDD is now 25 march /cry i hate APO so Much.

 

And that was with an ETA of the 25th?

Hey Deltawing, you can count on it Also picked up a new Razer Mamba to unveil with it. Original order date was January 16th, and then canceled and I re-ordered on February 2nd. And yup, most recent ETA was the 25th, so showing up a few days earlier then quoted...nice change of pace for Dell

 

Tiny update on my case. Had a customer care manager call me and tried to convince him to give me a razer mamba for the delay, he gave me a $100 coupon instead. So now I have a renewed spirit which helps block out the 3 delays. Order was placed 2/3 morning and apparently Greywolf22 got a tracking number and his was the same exact config and only a day earlier than mine.

 

Awesome news with the $100 dollar coupon. Hope your's gets shipped soon as well.

 

3rd day boxing stage for me. hopefully im getting mine earlier than march 10th

 

I was told by the rep that you speak to AFTER you call the order status number, press 4, 2, 1, 1 and listen to the automated system that there are two parts holding up my system: my wireless card (intel 3x3 mimo 6300) and some other part that she can't see the information for.

probably the screen. DOH

my new EDD is unknown, according to her.

 

My rep told me that the Intel 6300 will be fully available before 2/25 and the other part is most likely the RGBLED, which is rumored be in stock either 2/22 today, or 2/24 so things are potentially looking good for a lot of people to see tracking numbers this week.

Can anyone point me to a R2 internal layout? I read things like "buy a pair of 5870s later" and wonder where you install 2 almost Blade Server size video cards into a laptop...

My "escalation rep" called me to tell me the good news that my order had shipped, and I should get it tomorrow. I almost hated to pop his bubble and tell him I had been tracking it since Saturday... I don't think these guys appreciate how after nearly six weeks one tends to look for any sign things are moving without them... was hoping today, but it looks like tomorrow still; much better than the 03/02 date I was "threatened" with

 

Lucky one, I'm pushed to 21st with all the back orders....

 

assuming they've built and tested the system with a different screen and wireless card... if not, they'll still have to finish building it, testing it, box it and ship it from China to USA before it will ship out from Tennessee with our accessories and a tracking number.

I'm guessing everyone who has an intel 6300 won't see their tracking number until the first half of next week. :-S

 

Still 3-1 for me not change no compensation just me the intenet my cell phone.

 

I have NBD, and she told me it will ship out 3/16 and arrive 3/18

Hi.. I'm new to this forum.
I ordered my M17x R2 on 2/9 and the EDD is on 3/1.
When i read this forum, it seems that a lot system is being delayed. I called the automated customer service, they said my system is being built but the shipping date is on 2/23. I dun know how accurate it is. What seems to be the part that is causing the delay?

 

Unfortunately, if it's still in the "Build" stage they won't make the 2/23 date. Expect a call from Dell tomorrow with a new EDD. That's happened to me twice already. I complained that they should give more notice, then leaving a message the day of delivery that it's been delayed...but they gave me some speech about how that is how their system works..so sorry to be the bearer of bad news...

 

i was in the production phase after they shipped mine, then it was changed to delivered

 

i will be expecting the bad news tomorrow.
I hope they won't delay it any further or i'll get crazy of waiting.
btw, how long is your delay?

 

I called today to check on my expedition request and they said they hadn't heard back from the factory but upgraded my shipping to overnight at no charge without me even asking. But, I am sure they will call in a day or two with some bad news...But, my edd went down 2 days to 3/17, so I guess thats a plus!?

Yeah I was Torn Between Getting The RAM or ATi Xfire
I saw that if I wanted to Upgrade to a Xfire in the Future it would be like $600.
So Yeah I see your point.
I have since Revised my order to Drop the Ram to 4GB & get the Ati Xfire & a Blu-Ray Player. This only raised my total by about $100! Suprisingly Dell decided to give me Free Shipping now...Krazy! & this only delays my order by a day?...Sweet!

in a year I will upgrade to the 5870s Xfire seeing as I will be done paying for the thing by than.

 

Well, happily I'm receiving mine tomorrow, but have been waiting since January 16th...so I completely understand what you are going through. The waiting is always the worst part

 

anyone know the difference between the Intel 6300 and the default Dell card? How big is the performance difference?

The cards are the red cards top left & right (MXM 3.0b form factor) and are roughly 3" square.

 

BTW, something else I've noticed... In all the pictures of the R1 out there, the alienhead on the lid and power button are silver chrome, even on the black model. The alienheads on the space black R2 are black chrome and a more subtle effect (at least without the lighting on )

 

Oh, that's interesting So, is the black chrome nicer than the silver chrome?

 

I prefer the black. Makes the FX lighting stand out a little more.

I just bought an ATI 5780 1GB desktop version for $410 (after strike 4 on my Nvidia 280s - long story) - I wonder what the premium is for the laptop versions
