According to fedex, i get mine tomorrow![]()
-
So just to check it out I just priced one of these out... it came out to be $400 MORE than the Alienware for the same config... only differences were 8GB of RAM vs. 6GB on my AW, a 18.4" screen vs. 17" on the AW and it only had a 80GB SSD vs. my 128GB on the AW
Ironically the ship date was 3/16
-
Hey Ferrari, yeah it is Standard Overnight, so even though it technically shipped on Saturday morning, Fedex only delivers Tuesday - Saturday on Standard, so should get it today according to the Fedex website.
-
i hate this crap. can't believe i ordered on 2/2 and that some already got it, while others are being pushed again and again. damn it. poor planning on dell's part
-
^^ THAT!
I ordered 2/1... my edd is still 2/24 and it's still in production. -
Agreed, this isapsolute BS. My excitment is beginning to wear and morph into bitterness.
-
We should see more updates today.
-
Here's my update
As of yesterday, my rep doesn't have any specifics on an accurate EDD and hasn't heard from the manufacturer in three attempts. He says his manager is working with him to get a better EDD. I asked for a little compensation for my troubles, so he is checking with someone else on this. I'm shooting for a mouse. I need something to use while on the bed. If i get any info today, i'll let you all know -
I hear ya bro, but from what i'm hearing, all that goes away the first time you take the system out of the box.
-
Thanks for the post, that helps me stick with AW for now. In my angst I've been looking at Asus and this company for a substitute.
-
just imagine the glory that is the RGB LED and your hopes will rise!
-
Well today the recording is telling me March 9th 2010 for my replacement system.
-
Yeah after being pushed back 3 times 10th,18th,24,1st ive come to the conculsion you only get a kind of accurate EDD on friday at midnight.. Cuz thats when they push it back a week again lol.
-
This reminds me of back in k-12 when I would wake up early since it was snowing so hard out and start calling the snow line. Every time I called it said the same exact thing, that all schools were open, and every time I call Dell I get to hear the exact same thing. I am so close to giving up on Dell, it seems like I will be calling that number forever and she will always say it is in the Build stage with that cocky intonation, except I am out 2k
-
I think the problem is Dell simply doesn't have the parts so there's not much they can do about it. They're at the mercy of the parts supplier (in this case Samsung) and since nobody else out there makes a 16:10 RGB LED, they have to wait.
-
yeah true but im only human and have to blame someone so im going to the store to talk smack about samsung tv's
-
they should have posted delays up on their website before the shortage happened. but they didn't update their website fast enough i guess. poor customer service over all, i mean i understand they have their supplier problems, but at least notify us about delays, not have us find out later about it and being more upset. and incentives for the long wait time.
-
Well the waiting does suck but you can always cancel. They don't charge for the units until they have shipped.
-
Just got an email stating I have to give them permission to continue the order, which has just been delayed for another week, or they will automatically cancel it within 24hrs. So make sure you are checking your email regularly!
Though if you're like me that won't be a problem.
This is a rather poor effort on Dell's behalf. -
why cancel on somthing i want
i dont want the g73 i dont want the sager i dont want the battlebook. im sticking to my guns cuz if i cancel and reorder in lets say a month im sure ill be waiting just as long for this thing and since i deploy somtime soon i need this thing now so if it comes faulty i can get it fixed.
-
they send the email then call if they get no response dont sweat it
-
Unfortunately that is the touch choice most of us face, there is no viable alternative on the market that delivers on aesthetics, cooling, rgb led and crossfire in a single package. Personally I'm hoping they run out of 4870m and they upgrade us all to 5870m. Hey a guy can dream right?
-
That sir is probably the best dream any of us could have lol
-
So yesterday I did my order for my R2 through dell EPP. After my order I wanted to check the price I would have gotten if i paid full retail and I noticed the EDD's are about 3-5 days earlier than the EPP EDD's. Any idea why that is?
Edit: Lol my EDD from the EPP purchase yesterday was 3-23, the same PC built from the retailr website has an EDD of 3-18
-
so i just called, turns out they didn't update me because the rep tried to get my order expedited and he didn't get any reply yet. Is it that hard just to put someone on the hot list? -_- and also didn't offer me any incentives about this wait, because i already have epp and NBD. I'm not good at this asking for free stuff kinda thing, what should i say? I plan to call again on wednesday or thursday.
-
That means nothing i was still in production even after mine shipped
-
an older one? or that one in your sig?
-
Hey everyone, I have been watching this thread for a week or so now and thought I would chime in with my experience.
Like Mr. Neutron I also ordered on 1/17 ... gahhhhhh!
- My 1st 1/17 order got canceled (assuming its because of the dvd drive),
- A new order was automatically created by Dell on 2/2 with an EDD of 2/21 (that never happened),
- Now the EDD says 3/1. Although, the automated phone system doesn't even tell me my delivery date now. It just says its in the build stage. What BS. -
Mine is still holding on 2/24. There is still a little hope left on me that I get it tomorrow.
hope is the last to die right?
-
I have had the same thing. When I call there is no estimated delivery date nor estimated ship date just that I am in the build stage.
-
As far as asking for free stuff. Contact dell and try to get to customer care. The person you speak to will most likely become the only person you will need to contact since they will take over your case. While speaking tell them what the situation is and ask for compensation for your loyalty and time. If they can't offer anything ask to speak to their supervisor and do the same thing. For me the supervisor said that they normally do not compensate for delays, but in my case he would make an exception. Honestly I think they say that to everyone to make them feel better.
-
Yeah I was told the same thing, but as a "good faith" gesture, my customer care rep was able to provide me with a $75 dollar compensation for my time. I think a lot of times it just depends on who you get.
-
If you get a customer care rep they will always offer less than a customer care manager. I tried to get compensation with my rep who had taken over the case, and she offered $50 coupon. Then I was able to contact her immediate supervisor and was offered $100. At this point I stopped since I felt that was adequate. Perhaps if you went even higher to the customer care manager's supervisor you could get more, but that's really pushing your luck since $100 is quite a bit.
Btw for those of you that got a coupon, dell is having a sale on the AW TactX mouse $30 off, so with a coupon and the free shipping over $49 offer, most here could get it almost free. -
I got about $150 off, plus a free ac adapter and an extra 1 yr warranty...
it really depends who you get... -
Well you also got cancelled twice, and I only ordered 3 weeks ago.
-

You and me both man, i hope we both get some luck and that they deliver. After the incident with the wrong delivery date on their website im not so sure. Although there is a link to UPS to track the package now it should be good i hope...please let it be there
-
Ouch - ya.. good point
and i'm still over 3 weeks away from my system -
ARRIVED!!! Never thought this day would come...but Fedex just dropped it off. I won't have any time to mess with it right now, but will post pictures later.
-
CONGRATS! Definitely gonna require pics
-
Thanks!! I'll post some pics a bit later tonight. Hope all the rest of you start getting yours soon as well.
-
My replacement for my 1730 under complete care was submitted on 2/4 and using the automated system it indicates to ship 2/25...*crossing fingers*
I have received no "delayed" emails or notifications -
But you went for a M17X-R1 and your also getting a slowdown. So My guess the Computer Chassie or Motherboard? I am also in the same boat this is a replacement.
-
I got an m1730 replacement as well. The order was submitted the 9th, it shipped the 20th.
I think with most people buying R2's, our R1's are just sliding through the build process. -
So the agent handling my exchange got back to me:
The automated line says March 9th...things that make you go hmmmmm...It's too bad my CPU heatsink seems defective (runs too hot at load) and the tech damaged the palm rest. Oh well hopefully this replacement is perfect. -
that sucks, i wished this didn't happen, then we'd all be super happy.
-
still 2/24, still in production - build stage, the automated teller keeps saying the same. how can this be ?
-
well. they obviously lied to you. like they did to all of us.
-
but then, how come that some get this order delayed letter and i don't ? (i am trying to believe i am getting it, indulge me here
)
-
the3vilGenius 3vil knows no fear
Mine says it's send. If you dont get it tomorrow that would be really cruel. Jeej my rep just went up, i always love that.
-
I actually didn't get an order delayed email either, I got the phone message, that directs you to call the wrong number (tech support) who then puts you on hold for 20 minutes and transfers you to the other wrong department, who then transfers you to the correct department. I sooo wish I was kidding.
List everyone M17x-R2 ETA
