List everyone M17x-R2 ETA

Install photoshop and such on your SSD, but put the files you are editing on the 500gb hard drive. For example, I have my video editing software on my SSD but I leave my videos I am editing on my 250gb hd. Granted, if you had the videos/photos on your SSD they would load quite a bit faster but then you have a bunch of writes to the SSD.

I would check out OCZ's forums for their information on SSD's and windows. Bunch of good stuff.

our systems are the same except the processor and the hdd but i was told over and over that it was the screen and what does it matter what country he is in these machines are manufactured at the same factory. as far as i know of course i shouldnt be typing right now im raging on the phone i might say foolish things

You guys getting fast shipments are probably getting used/returned systems that match your order specs.

Not sure too many r2's are being returned. Seems onl a few people even have them lol.

 

I might be wrong here, but wouldn't it be illegal for them to sell refurbished laptops as new? They probably take the returned ones apart and use them for parts since I am quite sure when they send you replacement parts they aren't necessarily new. The ones that come back looking flawless are most likely sold through dell outlet. At least this is my take on the issue, I could very well be wrong.

I can garantee you mine is spanking new. Say it isnt so but i swear it is. It didnt have a single mark, fingerprint, scratch or anything that doesnt look right. The screen was perfect. everything.

I have to admit that i am fairly new to game on a computer but i love the R2 been playing WOW on it and it rocks the colors are amazing

hehe that's right, I even took pictures and haven't posted them yet!

 

They owe you a second bracket & interposer. Call AW tech support at (866) 287-6727 and tell them your machine didn't come with a second bracket. They will likely next-day you a TRDD2 kit, which includes the bracket, interposer, and one screw (others have received the same thing- . I'm not sure what magic words you need to get them to send all four screws that you need.

The bracket itself has 4 captive screws for attaching to the chassis; you likely be missing the ones to secure the drive itself. I had some extras around, and decided that it wasn't worthe the effor to call back and complain. Most retail drives come with screws anyway, or you can snag one from HDD 1 and put them diagonally across from each other on the second bracket.

Bottom line: don't pay for one; you already did when you ordered the system.

 

I was just called by the supervisor of my customer care rep. He told me that my 2/26 date will most likely be delayed to first week of march. He told me that all hard drives for the M17x and 11x are on back-order. Also told me that the delays were caused by faulty hardware, I assume referring to the hard drives. Also told me that the drives would be in full supply on 3/3.

I am inclined to believe him, but I was just told by the same customer care rep that the delay was caused by the Intel 6300. Perhaps both parts were delayed though and now they have the 6300 in supply, but still no hard drives.

 

I was just checking up on mfractal to see if he got it. Anyway i was transferring al my data because the other one is got to go tomorrow so im taking things easy. My old m17x is stuck in stealth mode so it doesnt go fast so i have the time hehe. I also took pictures of the two together on my bed

 

Oh and everything is good with the system. Only thing is they send me a foreign power cable the idiots, lucky i got another one from the old system. Now i can travel and see which one i need turns out quite nice hehe, and i have 2 adapters aswell jeej.

Wow... I finally, finally got my M17x-R2

I kid you not, it came to my folks door yesterday while I was at work... they had to leave for 1.5 hours... and naturally thats when FedEX came.... I was crushed. Then I had to get it at lunch today from the FedEX distribution site.... I never even asked for it to be held!!!!

Now to bond with my preecccioooussssss.....

 

I recieved my m17x this morning after school. I've been playing on it this entire time. I hope you guys get yours soon, its really amazing when you see it in person for the first time.

 

Definitely call Alienware at the number above and let them know you didn't get a 2nd HDD bracket. They will not even hesitate to send you one.

I got sent only one screw too, but that is all you really need to hold it in the bracket. Just use it on the hole closest to the connector and all is good. I have some extras at work I may bring home to use, but it holds good the way it is right now.

 

I agree....I didn't realize WoW was so colorful!

Plus raiding is a dream now.

Thanks for that...I actually did call them this morning and they are shipping me out the bracket and the interposer NBD shipping...so should have it in a couple of days (as I've come to understand that NBD means...you'll get it in a few next business days) Appreciate the follow-up, I expect that a lot of folks who didn't order dual HDD's are going to be in the same boat as we were.

when i call this # 1-800-433-9014 I get "Processing"

When I use the other # thru financial I get "Build stage" for the last 3 weeks.

Does the standard order status # ever say anything but "processing"?

Also their 10% discount is not allowed anymore (new rule). I managed to get the 10% off but with a LOT of trouble! Long story short I pretty much told them if they can't do it I was going to get a Macbook Pro instead (which I wasn't nor would I ever) - Within 5 minutes i got the quote - hehe.

So if your in Australia (not sure on rest of the world) 10% discount is gone for some reason - but when you order create a back up story like "I'm a student and want to get this etc then threaten with transferring to different brand". If you give a story before you make the threat it makes it more believable! (Catch Me If You Can taught me this trick!)

You'll most likely be delayed due to the RGB screen. I've been delayed since 3rd of Feb cause of it. And i still havn't gotten a ETA yet. With the discount yeah its rather sad.
