just a suggestion maybe you could have it sent to your parents or someone you trust and have them take it to the nearest unit and drop it off. don't know if it will get there any faster but maybe. and thanks for your service. I know when I was deployed my wife would send things this way and it didn't seem to take too long.
-
Hang in there man, I know how hard the wait is. I still can't believe all the holdups. I had pretty high hopes when mine shipped that it was the end of the delays, but alas it seems they've just gotten worse.
-
Well, I think in order to get my system by their EDD of 3/1 they are going to have to ship it today. I have a feeling from everyone's posts that that is not going to happen.
I am pretty close to cancelling if I get delayed one more time. I ordered in JANUARY and my March EDD is about to come and go.
It's fairly obvious that they have no clue how many parts they have or when parts arrive. In order for things to run smoothly you have to have accountability for every piece of stock coming in and out. If they are expediting orders or picking parts without any rhyme or reason then that explains why they cant give anyone a concrete delivery date. -
woke up this morning hoping it'd show shipped or at least boxing status, but nooo, i got another order delayed email and reply required to continue order. i was like , and then i called and complained and they told me again the same bullcrap. lcd screens still backordered and i still have to wait, and they still sure they will get my lappy to me on 3/5 and can only process my request for a coupon or compensation till the actual order is shipped and processed. this is a bunch of BULL. i told them if i dont get it and i get delayed again i will cancel. this is the LAST time.
-
Sorry to hear that man. We're all in the same boat. Hang in there! -
Hang in there Stargazer, everyone here is hurting. Look at the people who ordered in mid-January just getting their systems now, and they are all so happy. I bet when you get it whenever that will be, you will be happy too.
Lol just writing that made me realize that this thread is essentially group therapy for Dell delays. -
yeah, i know but at least they could pre approve my compensation so i'll feel like the wait is at least worth the trouble, but no, they don't say anything. and for all i know this waiting for 5 weeks would end up with nothing. I can't say i'd wish for an upgrade for lets say, another ati4870($270), but at least tell me i'll be getting a network card upgrade or a free bag to carry my m17x in. But no, no word on that till they ship my order. just ridiculous service.
And i bet a lot of you are all feeling the same. i apologize for complaining so much, but i've never been this frustrated in my life before, not even towards my girlfriend and i'd say she's pretty annoying sometimes. -
Did you call customer care and asked to talk to a manager? Once I did it I was assigned a senior customer care rep that is my single point of contact right now and he had already approved a razer mamba for me. -
do i call and right away ask to talk to a manager? how do i approach this?
-
yes mfractel do tell, do tell
-
So, what i did was call 1-800-695-8133 (dell epp customer care).
I got to a support guy in India (my best guess according to his accent), he then asked me what was my problem.. I complained that i ordered then and then, and was promised that it'll be delivered then and then and that i am really pissed that i haven't received it yet and more to that effect.
I went on demanding a free
1. NBD upgrade
2. Expedite the order.
The dude told me that he put on two requests, one for NBD, the other for expediting the order and that i will be contacted within 24 hours regarding both. Within 30 minutes, i saw my order status update to NBD.
24 hours passed and sure enough, nobody contacted me
I called back, assuming the expedite request wasn't even placed, but the rep told me it was placed. And in fact i have a senior rep assigned to my case, gave me his name and told me that he will personally see to it that he makes contact. Next day i got an email from my customer care rep saying that he will check my issues etc.
He told me that a request was put to expedite my order but he will not know until later if it's approved or not.
Since then till now, i had 3 more "order delayed.." letters, and each time i was sending him an angry (put polite, very polite email) stating that i need the machine for work, and that i am without a laptop etc.
About a week ago, i told him that i am expecting a compensation for my trouble.
He said it's Dell's policy not to compensate for delays.
I said that it's funny he's saying this, as i am an active member of dell's forums and i see that a bunch of people are getting compensated etc.
He said that he agrees that in my specific case i deserve a compensation and that he'll discuss it with his manager.
I then emailed him that my laptop is pretty much maxed out and that except of the processor there's nothing much he can upgrate (and that i don't mind if he would decide to upgrate my processor
) but i will be perfectly happy with a free razer mamba and that my confidence in dell will be completely restored if he'd authorize the mamba for me.
He emailed me back that he can't upgrade the cpu for me as it will require to cancel the order and place a new one with more delays but that he got an authorization to place an order for razer mamba for me once my laptop is invoiced.
So for now i am happy, but if i see more delays i am going to demand MOOOORE FREEBIEEES
-
Getting worried about all the extended delivery times. i hope I do not get that message. Hope this will change by the time mine is close.
in production
Order date 2/12
delivery date 3/18 -
does dell have a statement oh how there customer response should handle anyone have a training guide lol? Id like to get my hands on one just to beat these guys at there own games policy smolicy the customer comes first always!
-
some here say that if you want to get their attention you should file a triple b complaint.
I am waiting until my 3/3 date, and if they delay again i am going to try that.
I think that we all should do that and maybe then we'll see some progress -
whats trible B?
-
sigh... 7 hours after my email to dell.. so far...
-
better business bureau, i think i will do that now.
-
just did lets see what they say -
Ok, if you do please report back about results, as i think all of us should do it.
I decided to wait until 3/3 which is my current EDD, since i agreed to accept my mamba i can't complain. But if i get delayed again, i will go that way.
BTW, do you guys think we have a case with BBB?
Dell are warning us every time about the delay and giving us a chance to cancel. So they can simply say that if we don't want it we should cancel.
Do they have a policy that they can not extend a period of time from order to delivery ? -
http://www.bbb.org/
I saw couple of times on these forums that dell are very responsive to those complains (couple of pages back in this thread somebody was talking about it) -
How did you manage that?!
-
Dell has not warned me at all. No one has called me or emailed me to WARN me about anything. You have to call Dell on your own to find anything out.
-
they do email.
I got 4 of those already :
"Your order has been delayed again and we need your permission today to continue
processing your order or it will be automatically canceled
(as required by the Federal Trade Commission).
How to avoid cancelation of your order:
Contact us today to let us know that you still want us to ship this order, though it will arrive
later than expected (see the Revised Estimated Delivery Date below)
Simply send an email today to [email protected] stating that you are giving us
permission to continue processing this order.
Please include the order number (shown below) in your e-mail.
If you are not online please try dialing 1-877-868-3355 and we will answer your call as quickly
as we can. Dell agents are available daily 8am to 9pm CST.
If we do not receive permission the order will automatically be canceled within 24 hours.

I got one email on 2/2.
We wanted to let you know that there is a delay with one or more items in your order.
Based on the latest available information, we have adjusted the estimated delivery date
and are confident your order will be delivered on or before this new date.
(see Revised Estimated Delivery Date below)

Revised Est.
Delivery Date
02/12/2010
HAHAHA, yeah right. That was the one and only email/communication I have gotten. -
yeah, the "we are confident..." is the first delay email.. then all you get is "your order had been delayed again"
no "we are confident" part -
BBB complaint filed
i feel like such an ..... no not really
-
wow, that was fast
Please report back with results.
Dell will hate me for raising this issue probably
-
As of today i'm still "In Production" and got delayed again till 3/5.
If next Tuesday they anounce the 5870 at CeBIT, I'm cancelling and reordering with the new GPUs. -
I think that's the general consensus here.. all of us are waiting to see the announcement.
-
same, i just filed a bbb complaint, sent an email the the board of directors, and also filed a complaint on the unresolved issues website on dell. lets hope i get some answers and responses.
-
the amount of noise dell get from us
-
what do we think the price jump will be?
Dual 4870s are about 30% faster than a single 5870...
are we thinking dual 5870s will be about $300 more than our current configs?
using a 5870 in my desktop right now, definitely faster than the GTX 285 - no SLI -
hm. i have a gtx285 on my desktop. hehe. i can say its pretty solid. ultra super max on everything. lol.
-
just got delayed yet another week....Dell sucks
-
I am guessing they will price it pretty high.
Like 300-400 dollars more than 4870.. at least in the beginning. -
you're probably right, 5870s will be about 200-300 dollars (per card)more expensive than 4870s
-
remember when ati's came out for the m17x r1 they were a $700 upgrade over single 260 card. I would bet on 3-400 over the current ati xfire setup.
-
Eurocom is currently selling the 5870s ( don't rush there yet, the company is not to be 100% trusted) for 415 CADs (per card) while the 285M is 695 CADs so I really doubt there will be a huge price jump especially since Nvidia is about to introduce the 360M/380M GTX cards that should perform on par with 5870s (at least the 380s). I'd not be too surprised to see a price drop instead.
-
which is completely unjustified. For 15-20% real world performance increase
-
You guys have me totally paranoid now. I just ordered my M17 on 2/20. It's "In Production" . The phone number given for detailed order status now just says, "In Production"; none of the detailed stuff like, "Kitting", "Build", "boxing" or "dropped pieces on floor, getting mop" are given.
Estimated delivery date is June 3rd!! Nah, not really... March 17, but it's gonna feel like June.
I did *not* order the LED screen, though. Figured it would delay the system too long. I did order the better LCD screen, though.
*sigh* I feel like a kid on Xmas Eve... either that or Bill Murray in Ground Hog Day... not sure which at this point. -
hey, i will be the happiest guy out there if you're right. but given dell's history of pricing the top components very high (see 920xm) i doubt that.
-
Megacharge Custom User Title
Anyone actually buy a 5870 from Eurocom and can attest that they really do have them? If not I would consider it vapor ware as Eurocom has claimed in the past to be selling something, and when a customer called in they were met with a line like "we will have them, but they will arrive in a month or two" or "we will have them but we currently don't have an ETA on those" etc. Eurocom is not a company that can be trusted. -
920XM is 999$ per 1k lot@Intel so it's ok to price it +20% for any reseller. The very same Eurocom sells the 920XM for 1450+ CADs
.
-
You know, I'm starting to think that all of these delays may actually be due to the fact that every M17x -R2 has an ATI card in it... and we know that 4870s are pretty much EOL, on top of the fact that ATI hasn't been able to produce cards quickly on any sort of large scale for a very long time... If anyone believes that there will a good supply of 5870s in the beginning... well, I hope so too!
-
After reading your horror stories with Eurocom, i wouldn't touch them with a stick
-
Just phoned them and they said to call them in a week from now when they get the new stock and they will send them in 1 day.
I don't really believe this, (and I doubt these cards will ever fit the M17X) but will call them in a week just because I'm curious. -
Can't trust Eurocom? While I agree, can any of us actually trust Dell? lol
List everyone M17x-R2 ETA
