I placed my order on teh 1/18... Im still in build stage. Yes i did get the personal plate.
-
yes i did ....
I am in no hurry ...I will live so really tonight was the first time i checked on my order and i am currently in production... wish i knew how to get my shipping upped -
Hi guys, I'm new here at NBR.
I placed my order on 22/1, got the initial EDD of 11/2. Then EDD was bumped to 5/2 and then finally to 3/2 now that i just received confirmation for
build completion and waiting to be shipped.
FYI: I stay in Hong Kong so I'm not sure if our orders will be shipping from the same factory, but I'd be glad to help if anyone needs info from asia land.
-
Welcome to the forum!
That is an awesome configuration you got there!
Thanks for sharing the good news with us man, seems like you will be getting your lappy very soon, hope you can do some benchmarks with your 920XM and Xfires and share info with us

I have no idea if mines in shipping or not because the autonmated line and the dell reps all say its "in production". My eta is 2/2.
-
A lot of orders were placed on the 22nd through EPP because of the 5% additional discount.
Just ask.
-
Big fan myself, I relocated here 8 years ago for work and will definitively retire here. I live in the south, but go to Paris twice a year, great city.
Ontopic: wonder why there's a big difference in delivery times between Europe and US if all get assembled in the same Chinese plant? (as someone said, I have no idea where they are made) -
Is it possible that us Europeans get more expedient treatment because we are paying so much more than our cousins across the pond, such that we might be regarded as 'premium' customers? Just a thought...Myself, due to financial reasons, I won't be oredering mine till March...
-
I haven't tracked it closely, but does it seem the EPP orders are the ones that are being bumped? I wonder if Dell puts more emphasis one filling orders for non-EPP purchases, figuring those with an EPP discount will be more tolerant having gotten a fairly good discount; just a thought.
-
I don't think it has to do anything with EPP vs non-EPP. Seems they put together the configurations they have parts immediately available for and ship them out regardless of when it was ordered.
-
Does all this oddity on orders go back to the "clerical error" you think then, or a parts problem ala the dvd drives? Just curious what you think is really at work here. I get the impression the confusion with these orders is not typical Dellienware...
-
BTW my auto-reorder from yesterday is still in pre-production so new orders may have come to a halt now. Hoping my rep gets back to me soon to cancel that order.
-
What's curious is that, the Dell UK site offers zero options for CPU and GPU's..
-
meh - they are probably waiting to see how much demand our American friends create before deciding how much they can hike up the prices for us gypsy rich europeans.
-
Anyone know how much faster an expedited order takes? The rep who put in my re-order screwed something up, and that order went straight to canceled. She also put THREE holds on my card, maxxing it out.
I then got a hold of another rep who put my order in yet again, with a new order # and everything. He swears the order has been expedited, so any idea how long it should take to get my new order? -
Expedites typically mean very little. You're back at the end of the line.
-
My original order is now officially canceled so I only have 1 system coming in. My rep said they will try to expedite it again. We'll see.
-
If my R1 ends up going back to the Depot, I will be using my netbook for a month (or more!) I might end up buying an R2 before this goes down if I'm impatient.. but that's dangerous ;P
-
Fantastic. In less than 24 hours Dell has added 3 weeks to my laptop's delivery date AND rendered one of my credit cards completely unusable.
-
The credit card should be fix almost instantly.
-
I just called the number and it says I'm in boxing, specs are below. It was ordered on 1/22 using the 5% like many here. I'll believe it when I get tracking info, lol
-
I hope so...last night I was declined for a $5 purchase which is always fun. Plus my old laptop's 7950GTX card died this week adding insult to injury, so I've got nothin to game on.
Anyways, sorry for venting here to you guys, but I figure who better to understand my pain?
-
I'm guessing my m17x must be in boxing now because my eta is 2/2
-
You all who are getting your lappies soon will have to make sure you post a review with benchmarks, if for no other reason then to make those of use still waiting jealous!
-
Yes, benchmarks and a good review of the RGB LED if you please! The m15x screen looks pretty good, I am eager to see how DVDs and games look with the full color range on the m17x-R2. Man, I SO wish mine would have hit shipping today...
-
I'd be venting too if my m7950gtx card died... Not fun playing browser games on a netbook
I ordered on 1/20 and still no change. Anyone know of an automated number for france? -
Well??? You should have this by now.
-
Don't worry guys ill take 100s of pics from hundreds of different angles just for you
-
Step 1, download and run gpu-z to verify we are still working with the same 4870 cards.
-
Step 2. Check to see if the multi is locked while on battery
-
Step 2, post to nickbarbs, UK
-
Speedy Gonzalez Xtreme Notebook Speeder!
i worry about performance more than looks but if you refers to the screen i will like to see some hd pics.

Speedy Gonzalez Xtreme Notebook Speeder!
step #whatever run vantage
-
I'm interested in seeing the screen as well. A nice side by side comparison would be best!

So it is still unknown if R2 has the throttling issue? Also, there are never any coupons for Alienware, are there?
Thx -
No one has one yet, so we don't know. I am wondering if *just maybe* some of this delay is due Dellienware spending some time in testing and tweaking to avoid this issue with the m17x-R2s....
Sorry, moment of temporary insanity there.... I fully expect to run one 3dmark06 test with the machine out of the box then browsing straight over to the throttling thread and solution the folks here worked out-lol -
See step 2
-
If Dellienware is having delays from personalized name plates then something is seriously wrong... I know the m15x I am holding was in my hands with my name plate six days from ordering.
-
This is just a thought Doc, it seems to be the only variant between my order and several others that were way ahead on me in the production queue, I left the name plate standard while theirs is personalized, nothing conclusive.
I will check my status again in a few
-
UPS appear to be taking an inordinate amount of time picking my system up. Is this normal? The Shipped/Billed on: tag seems to indicate that it may not be shipped until the 02 Feb !
It's 1.5 days nowAttached Files:

I spoke at length to a senior Alienware Manager about this issue and he assures me that it does not have those issues!
He also has very high confidence in the fact there is a solution on the r1.
what can i say he seemed very genuine and knoweldgeble. -
That's interesting... perhaps they have only received shipping information but they expecting to ship on the given day, that usually happens when the vendor sends his request for a tracking number but the package has not been picked up yet, anyways, you looking good!

The system is listed as shipped when it leaves the factory, in this case china.
It has then to be flown to the regional dell distribution centre, only at the distribution centre is it handed to the courier.
this can take a day or 2 -
In the US it's not listed as shipped until it's actually in the process of being shipped to you. The flight from China to the US is part of the boxing stage. Don't know how it works in Europe.
-

I assume it works the same,
However i can only coment on personal experiance, as i once had a laptop that missed the expected flight and remained in shipped for about 3-4 days before the couriers got hold of it.
However as with all information obtained from Dell it may not be entirley correct! -
Should have mine next week it seems I wish I got the better shipping but o well
-
You went into boxing today Moo?
-
Moo, should be quick for you if you chose free shipping like I did. From Nashville it takes 2 or 3 days to get to me in MI so I didn't feel it was worth paying for extra. Now if I could have them billed my FedEx corp. account then yeah, priority overnight for sure
Oh, and to the nameplate idea I did have mine personalized. -
hmmm....now I'm starting to think the i7-920 is an issue.
-
i7-620 here and still in build.
Although, I didn't order until 1/22
List everyone M17x-R2 ETA
