Got a call from a guy who's working on my case, said mine is in it's final stages of production and should ship out next week sometime. That's about a week ahead of the EDD on the website of 2/9/10. Original rep told me 2/5/10. Gotta love Dellianware.

its updated daily i think and not on weekends

What can I say, I like the thing , maybe I'll get one in the summer if reviews positive and any possible bugs worked out, I was eye balling the iPod Touch last December, but I hate tiny screens...
Back on topic, just checked status and all still good in boxing stage

 

Ordered mine on 1/27/2010, EDD 2/22/2010. I hope that gets moved up once it is in put together and in boxing.

 

All these devices are slowly converging into one, PC+phone, ebook viewer, portable dvd player, game machine, etc... I expect an Alienware branded tablet in three years, with phone, camera etc. Maybe it will have little legs like a UFO to keep it cool and look like a War of the Worlds tripod - lol

Then again, all the above sounds like.... an m11x! HMMMMMmmmmmm..... maybe I see one in my future at some point now....

Yes I did. I usually order through AAFES, but since they didn't have the discount I kept calling Dell EPP until I got a good sales rep. Ended up getting the usual 10% off plus another $200 off by using my DPA and telling them I am a government contractor. Made up for the tax I would have saved through AAFES.

Yes, call...then call again...then call again...until you get a deal you can handle.

Make sure you get an EPP discount to start if possible. You can get it as a student, working for certain companys, etc.

The last couple days when calling I've gotten different recordings. Something is screwed up with that number. Sometime it works, sometimes not.

Mine was ordered off the regular site on 1/20 but the EPP rep just applied the 10% off to it for me, it wasn't available on the EPP site at the time. I believe anyone who ordered on 1/20 or before is going to have this problem.

maybe, i ordered mine on teh 1/18 and mine has not been canceled and still shows it with the 313-8565 Slot-Load Dual Layer DVD Burner (DVD+-RW, CD-RW)

 

If they cancel mine, Dell is going to get an ear full. If they knew they were going to be out of cd-rom drives then why didnt they fix it 10 days ago.

 

I guess they have their reasons.

I'd call up there and have them check that SKU on your order as soon as possible, if you wait that is just longer until they can reorder and get it to you.

 

MOO. If you call the 800 number and ask if they can ship faster they will upg ade you to next buissness day. I called and she did it without even asking for it . I think they must be getting alot of concerned customers. Maybe they are offereing it to smooth things over. I have read more than a few people that have been upgaded also by just calling. One more thing. Thanks MOO for pointing me to the EPP site. I was going to order a R1 first because of a deal I found on Nextag. I ended up paying less for the R2 than I would have for the R1 with the EPP discount. I only got the single vid card due to the fact I am not a hardcore gamer. I play some older games and WOW. So I hope the single card will do fine. The real reason I wanted the R2 is the screen. So I cant wait for reviews on it. Anyhow thanks MOO.

I ordered mine last sunday 1/23. I just called the 800 number and it is now in boxing. Wow. I have been thinking I would wait a month for this. I hope it ships this next week like THE MOO said .
