PM'd thanks again.

They shouldn't be expediting orders when they don't have parts to fulfill orders. It should be first come first serve.
-
Looking at a 03.29.10 ETA, however if this thread is any indication probably longer.
Sorta OT but I noticed my dell login does not show any order being placed, is this due to purchasing under EEP? I received my confirmation email, so I figured I would be able to view it on the web. Am I missing something? -
I guess they Expedited mine due to the massive delays of the Screen so i'd get mine first. I don't know.
-
yours has been quite a while though im sure there are very few if any that ordered before you that havent got theirs yet.
-
i really do hope dell can come through this time with the 3/5 EDD.
-
use the link in the e-mail they sent you
sometimes they assign you a new customer # so it wont show up unless you have them assign the new number to your account. this happened to me. -
Hi to all and I placed my M17x order on 29th January 2010 with Dell's retail shop but I still haven't got mine in my hands yet after 1 month!! The reply from them is due to the public holidays in SEA and the assembly line in Taiwan is closed for holidays, thus they were unable to supply or courier the M17x. I'm really doubt that is the truth.
I have been emailing Dell after 2 weeks I placed my order, there is no reply or whatsoever. Not even Dell Asia Pacific got any response. Sometime I'm thinking, such an International company would delay the delivery like this, whether the factory is working or not.
The parts I ordered for the M17x upgrades; ram, optical drive, SSDs, and i7-920XM processor were placed 1 week later then the M17x already arrived after 2 weeks!!! I'm not a real gamer but I need this beast for my 3D animation work and the power to solve my process simulation....
delay delay and delay...... -
we are never gonna get it till april. sad isn't it? -_-
-
hey stargazer...when did you order?
-
feb 2nd... delayed and no word on compensation. -.-'
-
The best compensation Dell could give is for everyone that's been waiting to get automatically upgraded to the 5870's. I'm assuming they will replace the 4870s at the same price point so it shouldn't be out of the question.
-
Yeah but i doubt they'll do that.
-
I like the way you think sir...
-
wow....SO I must have ordered well into the shortage.
you have been bumped 10 days at a time.
While I ordered they gave me an ETA of 1 month..
i wonder if they will bump me by another month the way things are going for everyone else. guess I will have to Cancel & get 5870s when they come out.
This Blows. -
If it happens with my replacement I owe you a beer!
-
For those that wonder if Dell really does expedite orders for those who complain I have to say I would think they should. If you think about it, it makes sense for a company to speed up the order of the complainers since we are closer to cancelling the order. They really don't want any cancellations and the only reason they auto-cancel usually is due to the FTC rules.
I really hope Joker is right with us being able to demand the 5870s, but alas I think there is only a 5% chance any of us will get that upgrade for free. -
I saw this old video on youtube, i thought i would shere

The only real problem with this free upgrade is the very likely delay till the 5870s actually appear on Dell' website. It may still take a month or 2...
-
I'm delayed for another 5 weeks so I'm halfway there.
-
sounds like another 5 years.... that's terrible.
now i have to reconsider if i should order in March. -
Yeah its pathetic, to be honest...As i said in a previous post. I'm thinking of Canceling or going into Hibernation....2 weeks? Sure no problem..But 8 weeks? No thanks. (I've been waiting for 3 weeks already -.- Ordered on the 1/2)
-
Waiting untel the 3.2.2010
-
Dude your not getting a Dellienware anytime soon.
neither am i lol. -
when did you order Ferrari. Mine showing Feb 1 on the order status. Next week will tell us if it will be here March 2 or not.
-
first order was 1/18/2010, got canceled then re-ordered on 2/2/2010. Current EDD of 3/8/2010
mine was sopposed to be delivered tomaro but it got delayed to the 8th. -
When you call does it give you a EDD or a ship date? Online my EDD is 3.19 but when i call and do the 4.2.1.1 it says my system is scheduled to ship on 3.17
just wondering since we're very similar in order times... -
I think it depends on the location of the world.
-
3/3 is getting closer. Somehow I am not optimistic
I expect another email tomorrow or the day after. -

Hi all, Finally my M17x R2 arrived on Thursday and it is cool, faster and excellent frame rates even at 1920x1200 in COD2, Cysis (All 3 Games) and left 4 Dead1/2.
It is worth the wait to all those still awaiting there delivery.
-
thats only because you didnt get RGB screen that you got it so early. -.- we probably still got weeks to wait.
-
Groan....
-
When I look online it says 3/8, when I call using the 4.2.1.1 method I dont get a ship date anymore.
-
Are you a plant from Dell, here to just make us hang in there? Is this a cruel joke?
-
Watching that video posted 2 pages back, I wonder is Dell lying to us saying our machines are in the build stage? If there are parts shortages wouldn't everyone be stuck in the kitting stage?
-
i was thinking the same thing..
it's probably true, they wouldn't assemble all our laptops and just keep them half assembled there. The whole assembly time shouldn't be more than a couple of hours. So until all the parts aren't in they don't even start. -
Someone pointed this out I'm some thread awhile back. Said the manufacterer who updates gets the English translation wrong most of the time for kitting and build so they put build by mistake alot.
-
did anyone hear anything new about parts shortage ?
I guess we will have news tomorrow though... -
I heard a date of 3/3 for the hard drive shortage to end from my customer care rep's manager, but he might have been feeding me BS so I wouldn't cancel the order.
-
I am done trying to figure this out, as long as I get my system before the end of March I will be happy :/
-
i can't wait till the end of march. i just can't
it's too much!!! :S -
Hey guys, I know you missed me here
I got my M17x on Wednesday but only really got to play with it this weekend. I figured for those waiting I would share what I went through before I hit gaming Nirvana.
My first issue was the DVD refused to install Star Trek Online at first, I had to let it sit and sit before it seemed to "read past" a spot on the disk. I double checked the disk, which is brand new, and I could see no flaws, and it loaded on the M15x just fine. Oddly, movie DVDs have NO problem. Once I started the machine after the first hot and heavy gaming session the drive made a whirring on boot up the next time. No issues since, but then I don't use the drive much and plan to swap it for a Bluray.
The REAL hassle came in with ATi Crossfire.
Basically, it didn't work as the machine was loaded. I was getting 3dmark scores of like 9400
at which point the lowly M15x across the room with a strong 10K+ score snickered.
I had a Dell tech get in and he ran 3dmark three times after I think reloading drivers (I was working at the time) but I saw the infamous flickering and was not surprised at all. Not sure what he did, but...
Later, I got home and was getting 3dMarks of lik 4500... even lower, suggesting something was horribly wrong. Went in, unchecked and rechecked Crossfire and voila it was now working. Here's the weird part, except for a very tiny amount, there is no flickering now! I tried upgrading the drivers to 10.2, but Windows 7 keeps indicating 8.68 even after running the cleaning tool from Guru3d, I suspect that when I tried to load the new drivers the 8.68 remained. However, doing this broke the Catalyst Control Center :confused2:
In desperation and plain tired of battling whatever is wrong with ATi (apparently this is a common problem) I fell back to a restore point, back on 8.68 for sure but the CCC still wouldn't work, so I grabbed the ATi tray tools and now back to using Crossfire with the tray tool and all is good. I am still getting an occasional very brief flicker, almost a flash that I think may just be a side effect of the way the ATi Crossfire functions.
Another thing I noted, purely esoteric, is the M17x is truly "silver" as opposed to the more gun-metal gray of the M15x, the difference is very hard to tell apart in pics on AW's site.
Anyhow, on the RGB LED and with Crossfire working games are truly stunning to look at, and I am accustomed to reasonably good monitors. The red takes some getting used to as it nearly glows on the screen with normal desktop usage, but with DVDs and streaming video the colors are very good. A slight pulling of the red down is necessary to get a good white out of the screen though unless you like a very warm white. Even with these issues I love the system, with the 5870s at some point they will rock even harder! Just hang in there, it IS worth the wait! -
i am so envious right now !
Even those problems is something i am looking forward too
-
i want it, in my hands, now!

DigiChaos no plant, just explaining that to those who wait should not be disappointed.
-
When did you order?
How long was your actual wait for the sweet payoff? -

The decision to build a replacement R2 for my XPS M1730 was at the end of January, my case started the first week, System spec completed and ordered by the 30/01/10
-
I thought R2's didn't go on sale till mid January?
I ordered one the same day I saw the i7 option on the Alienware site. It wasn't until the next day until it hit the tech sites. -
Yay, i finally hit Work in progress Stage. Still no ETA though.. -.-;
