I just called the 800 number, says my order was received Dec 1st.

I have now upgraded this order to officially comical.

 

I think I got it figured out: Dell is making sure those of us with 920xm's have systems that are thoroughly tested for dead pixels, stray dust, and are spit polished before being shipped.

 

dell reps are retarded. i called, got some paki, he asked me when i ordered the laptop and then put me on hold...

I called this number 800-433-9014 entered me order number then after it gave me my status it asked if I wanted to talk to a rep. So for the hell of it I said yes. The girl said she would check my build put me on hold came back and offerd the NBS. I said thanks and she said if there was anything going on with my order she would call me personally. I have never ordered from Dell before so I was actually impressed with her. I have heard bad thing about Dell like every other company. So far I have been treated really well by them.

 

I don't know, people who ordered the day after us are now in boxing. Feel more like a red headed step child.

Is this the first i7-920xm system they are offering?

 

M15X has the 920xm.

 

Then that shouldn't be an issue. Oh well, we will just continue to wait.

 

Next thing you know the UPS of Fedex dude will be knocking at your door totally by surprise, thats what happened to me with my 730X desktop, I was still trying to get a tracking number when the dude showed up with my package, glad I was at home....

 

Any news on when the 5870's will be available on the M17X?

 

Mine's already done with the production stage yesterday, just waiting to be shipped now. Probably by today. Will update you guys once the status changes.

Sorry I have not been on here for the past two weeks.

 

I called to purchase a M17x R2 today and was told you can not order Black anymore, even though the website still shows it. I was told if I ordered black that my order would be canceled but it would take some time before that happened.

 

Have been reading through the forum for a couple of months now. I find it very useful and interesting to say the least. I hope I get my laptop on time. I have been without a laptop since my dog ruined my last one in December. New dog, Chihuaua, I think it was a male dominance thing.

 

That's weird, i just ordered mine a couple of hour ago in Space Black, eta 2/18. I got via epp 10%+4%

 

I called to get the shipping changed to NBD but the lady wouldn't do it since I already had 2nd day delivery. Has anyone with a space black system gone into boxing/shipping? I find the lack of black hard to believe, especially this early in the stage of the system's sales.

 

I'm not buying the black chassis shortage one bit.

Reps are truly clueless....

 

actually when i was talking about my new replacement system last week to alienware tech support, i asked if i could have nebular red and they agreed as it would help them as they are running very short of black!

might be some truth!

I really really hope the black chassis thing isn't true, I just reordered mine today with black after the cd-rom fiasco. If they cancel me a 2nd time I might be forced to wait and see what Clevo brings to the show at CeBIT, would be nice if they offered a RGB LED.

 

Black is not an option for the R1 last time I looked. Neblua red a free upgrade also.. So maybe they are short on black.

 

One more entry for the books: ordered 1/25, EDD 2/19. Dell automated phone status "currently being processed."

 

If they were short in black then they would place holds on those orders. I'm not buying it either. The R1 needs to be discontinued already.

 

I just ordered mine yesterday in black. The Dell EPP rep even asked me what color and black was still one of the choices she gave me.

I am going to call her tomorrow and see if that is just a rumor and also see about possibly upping the shipping. I have the standard right now.

 

It is weird that there are no early or pre-release reviews of the R2.

 

There's been no real reviews of the G73 either. I guess the only things that garner any attention these days are weak netbooks or imaxipads. I hope my system gets to boxing already, I hate typing on this iPhone.

 

All true. Hell, maybe they can't get the review samples out of the Build Stage.

 

The whole launch of the R2 has been very quiet in general ... They will probably send out review units when the new cards come out for it ... Which is when ill probably reorder ..

Im gonna play around with the G73 for abit till then though for something different to mess with .... The 4870s are monsters though thats for sure ... I already had the W90 and thats why i didnt rush to get another M17x as bad as i would like to, though they were only 512 megs..

 

As long as I can run battlefield bad company 2 near 60 fps at native 1200p I will be happy. If the 4870s don't cut it then I'll upgrade.

 

Oh they should cut it just fine... BF2 will support DX11 not sure if the beta will but the full version is one of the DX11 games of 2010... Id be very shocked though if the G73 could run it though with DX11 and im not holding my breath... I have already seen what DX11 can do to my desktop 5870 card so the mobile DX11 cards probably wont fare to well unless you have 2 of them that is .... I really hope when they refresh the cards for the M17x its more then just 5870s to be honest...

The 5870 is a disappointing "upgrade" over the 4870. I wish nvidia could get mobile fermi out sooner than later. Their gpc are highly scalable so it wouldn't be hard to cut it by 1/3 and have a monster mobile release.

 

Man my rig is cheaper than yours and mine is still in build....

 

Yeah i agree it is rather disappointing but not much we can do except wait sadly.... Mobile Fermi would be cool and i have been a loyal Nvidia fan for many years and only a couple times tried out ATI but for now there top of the heap and it will be interesting to see what Fermi brings to the table.. Mobile fermi this year is just not going to happen honestly though ... Atleast i dont believe it will .... They have there work cut out for them on the desktop end and i cant see it happening that quickly over to the mobile sector... Hope i am wrong though ...

Quad, waiting for the 5870s is no doubt the wisest course in the long term, but I've got the itch for one right now. The 4870s are good enough for me; in fact, I'm excited about getting the new R2, but I'm gonna be jealous when people start getting dual 5870s.

 

I wouldnt worry man those 4870s will be great cards.. I just came off owning 2 M17x's and a M17 so i wanted something completely different to play around with... Had they announced new cards with the M17x refresh i would for certainly ordered one though ... Im very excited to hear about the RBG LED screen more then anything .... Especially how bright it is ...

Well if it turns out to be that great and the G73 turns out to be a dud then ill be ordering regardless .. Still want to keep my options open but for now my eyes are set on the G73... Plus my SSD needs a home soon or im afraid its going to sneak out of my closet and run away on me ...

Between you , Witcher and a few other people i think im not going to hear the end of just how great it is lol... I may have to put the whole Alienware forum on /ignore for awhile ...
