it just checked again, its now march 18th. I have no idea what aspect of their system keeps changing my order estimated ship on the fly like this...

 

are you sure this 50$ coupon is a compensation? I just got one too..

The same thing happen to me when I ordered the Orion messenger bag. Even though it shipped out the same day they didn't update the status to shipped until the next day.

 

Wouldn't that delay my order even more?

I just want my system to arrive so I can give the system I'm using now to my gf for a surprise gift :/

 

My system is deliver as of 11:36am! Unfortunately I have a test at 2:15 so I will be studying for it till then and post some first impressions from my new lappy later today. Any video requests?

Yeah I know the feeling, when mine arrived at noon, I was stuck working until 6:00, so couldn't play with it. Nothing worse then the box sitting there saying "open me", and knowing that you can't...almost worse then the wait...almost.

Zenith, I suspect it's the SSD drives... it would make sense that it would be a problem item in large orders if (I'm assuming) yields are difficult to meet. If you find out let us know, although I have mine now I am watching the thread out of sympathy

Still waiting for mine to be delivered but FedEX did call this morning to tell me it was being delivered today. I now have that waiting for the package I can not leave the house / office feeling.

This is a different feeling than the I must check the status of my order and wait for delays feeling. More like the so close where the heck is it kind of feeling.

lol...nice! Yeah I actually ended up giving it to my parents who were in need of a new system (they were still running on a Pentium II). It's a bit much considering they just use it for e-mail and the occasional web surf (on dial-up), but they were happy never the less.

 

Exodus, if you get a chance can you post the part number for the Blueray drive?

BTW, got one of the $50.00 coupons too.... wondering if I should stack it with a $75.00 coupon I have and get a 9-cell battery....

 

Still on the truck... only 1:45 min left before 3PM PST...

 

So I already opened mine up, but haven't had time to take pictures or anything. The screen is OMG amazing, looks almost 3D the way the colors come out at you. Thing is heavy as can be and lifting it with one hand is a dangerous game of try not to drop the super-expensive electronics. So far left it at home to go to work and it's just downloading Steam games, hopefully at least something will be loaded before I get back. Only complaint I have is that I can't seem to turn the brightness down using the keyboard shortcut.

 

I FINALLY got Dell to upgrade me to overnight shipping after pointing them to this thread along with a nice little rant. It helped I'm off work sick atm so I'm in the right frame of mind for it. Nothing gets me more annoyed than being sick.

Of course I still didn't get any further info out of them as to why it's delayed. Just the "Your order# is currently in production and has an estimated delivery date of 3/10/2010".

Here's hoping everyone get theirs in good working order over the coming days.

 

Mine just came about 30 min ago-- I was in the middle of an interview so I couldn't go up to the front desk to grab it. I brought it down to my office and man! you'd think there was a desktop inside this box!!

Yeah, still the M1710's a pretty solid machine after all these years...mine's destined to become the new HTPC in the living room.

May have to turn off the LEDs though

Got my order confirmed on 16/02 with the EDD 17/02, then it shifted to 11/03,....then to 21/03.... and now it's 31/03.

....so I found out there is a 17 day delay. Reasons: Chassis and Video Card delays. *sigh* March 30th delivery date here I come. Everyone go order the Nvidia cards, stop ordering dual ATI's !!! lol

It's either black or silver cause those don't cost extra.

 

Yeah, anodized black and Dual ATI's. Delay was from the point of buying it. 03/01/10.

I guess either Alienware are selling like Nintendo Wii, or they just cost Dell so much that they only order the parts when they need them.

 

Did you place another order or still camping?

 

I don't like the silver (too much like apple, haet apple) and I don't like the red either (looks too feminine to me).

FYI - I had to update to the new BIOS
- Older Command Center is installed

Everything is running smooth so far though I might call and see if I can get a second drive tray as of course that was not included.

Well worth the wait.
