Definitely call Alienware Tech Support to get the 2nd drive bay with interposer. They will send it free of charge. I got mine the very next day after I talked to them.

well. it can't be worse than what i just went through today, got called while at the university and was told that i'll be delayed again till 3/12, next friday. i was too busy working on my work that i didnt say much and hanged up. I checked the system and it still says 3/5 EDD. I will call again on saturday to give em a piece of my mind. i'm going to be waiting 1.5 months for dell to give me my laptop. wth

 

They gave me a huge run around for mine but like a week later I got an email saying that it was shipped.

Well, I was supposed to receive a replacement laptop but since it's been 20 days since it was ordered, I decided to instead return my current system (mostly to spite the Customer Service Rep) and get a new one (I found a better deal).

I was told on different occasions that they ran out of 500gig HDs and that they ran out of RGB LEDs (and needed to find a new manufacturer).

So I'm placing my new order today (and shipping out the original tomorrow). Watch, my replacement will show up next week.

 

Yeah I know what thats like. It'll be at least 1.5months for me too, before i get it (ETA 3/12) Etc.

Yeah, can't believe they gave you a huge run around...my experience was much better, spoke with my customer care rep, she called sales, and I had mine the next day (I even called later in the afternoon and they shipped NBD). So their shipping is SUPER FAST (well on extra drive trays)..guess they had a whole bunch of those laying around (that they decided not to include). Just don't expect any screws..I see people got 1 screw, but I got...well 0...but screws aren't so hard to come by these days. I guess Dell will screw you one way or the other (sorry, bad pun..I know)

 

Boooo two issues with my system

1) Small but important, the messed up my name tag. Two letters were cut off at the end

2) Bigger issue, I orderd 2 hd's, SSD and 500gb. SSD was supposed to be my OS drive and 500 for storage. They have it backwards.

Do i just call tech support?

Other than that, the system is really sweet and looks great on my Cryo Cooler!!

 

1. call to complain?? maybe they'll give you some freebies, or at least reprint the plaque, tho I bet they'll say that there is an XX character limit.

2. Just use dell datasafe local to make a restore DVD, swap the drives and restore to the SSD. both run pretty quickly. EDIT: or call tech support if you're a glutton for punishment.

I just spoke to my rep (and her manager) and was told HDD was what they were waiting on and they received it today meaning my status should be in production today (hasnt changed just yet but they just notified me of this issue - and i didnt even have to call them! !)

They also assured me i would have it within 10 business days... Lets see how we go from here.

Having an ETA almost seems like a luxury to me.. Mine was ordered on Feb 16 after I'd returned my M17x-R1 for a refund and has sat at "Order Received" from that time with no ETA or updates from any of the sales reps.

A week after my order was placed I was told the lack of status updates was due to a problem with the Order Status site..... Surely Dell wouldn't lie!!?

 

Well I'm in Shiped from Factory stage. Should get in Australia by Monday and should be here by the 12th if not sooner.

So i'm starting to think i'm the only one left that had an original order date of 1/14 ......

 

I hope it not to long for the other people. I hope Things run better. This will be my frist Quad core cpu.

Then it bring up my next Task. Build my 7 year old Nephew a Desktop computer. A Low cost intel i5 system with intergraded gpu and Sound and later be able to put in higher clock i5 cpu and GPU. Then keep rebuilding it every few years.

Most of you might be going why build it. It to help me take the computer a+ certs test. I am not going to collage Just Home schooling my self so I dont have to drive 100 Miles to collage and back.

 

has anyone else who made a BBB report been contacted by dell yet?


BTW this thing is well worth the wait. I gotta buy a blu ray drive.

dell strikes again....I called yesterday to see how much to upgrade my system with the second 4870 and they told me $300 the same price as when you order. I called today to order it and now they tell me $517..I just dont get it. I called Alienware tech support to order it.

 

aw man. even delta is in boxing!!! congrats. i'm delayed till 3.12.
dell sent me another cancel notice this morning. argh. and i was hoping for order shipped notice.

 

Well, the date for my newly Ordered Laptop is 4/1/10.

And looking at the status of my replacement for my returned system, the order has been "Changed" which I'm assuming means canceled for me.

 

Grats to the new Boxers! You will all love your new laptop.

 

Does anyone know if boxing days are counted on the weekend or just week days?

weekends included-so if you're boxing Fri, then you should ship Monday-ish.

 

They seem to be in stock if you configure a new one, does not say delay.
