Been playing Flatout2. Strange racing game but Untel Lord of the rings downloads It something to do. Max out My temps dont seem to get high Both gpu seem to be working good. Knocks on wood.

I wish Windows 7 had the basic features as windows xp and vista. I always like the classic view.

 

I ordered my AW with Windows 7 home x64, or whatever the cheapo version is... I have 7 x64 Ultimate ready to install after I mess around with the lappy for a while

I assume there's an app DVD with the unit to reload their custom apps

No update on my end - EDD of 3.19 holding strong.. glad to see people with the 128GB SSD are shipping... don't waste them all i still need one!!

just bought a OCZ SSD from NewEgg - 120GB FAST drive, over 250MB/s R/W

Not sure if i'm going to drop it in my desktop or put it in the AW and take the SSD from the AW and drop it in my desktop

Can someone with the 128GB SSD run some benchmarks? looking for sustained R/W specs

so after waking up and checking my email with no info on my order, i checked on the forum to read up on the updates, and i was pissed as hell when darth vato was already in boxing and he ordered 20 days after i did. but then i gave a call and now i'm in BOXING. YAY!!! so i think the 3/12 eta is good. after 6 weeks of waiting! i'll finally be here!

I wish I knew a date on mine. Since it is a replacement order, its not shown on the website or over the phone. I was given an estimate by the person that processed the replacement.. I can't wait till i get it. Specs are in my sig.

 

Yes! i just called to check my status the rep said its in the final stages of production and should ship in the next two to three business days, i also asked if there was a chance of it getting cancelled and he said no so my hopes are up now! lol

in another update, my sdhc card for my dslr has arrived! now for the dslr. ordered on 3/5, backordered now because its official release date is 3/8. but a couple people have gotten it on 3/1 already. so lets see if i can get my dslr to shoot my m17xr2. or else i'd have to resort to my crappy 8.1MP sony cybershot for the photos.

 

I should have my laptop in hand today sometime. I will shoot some unboxing pics for you guys as well since I have the silver one.

Man Delta, just hang in there, it IS worth it. You will really enjoy it once it comes in. For the price you are getting it for I could wait two months easy!

 

I only managed the upgrade to NBD (from 2 day) shipping myself. I think those of us that haven't bought them under an EPP or similar and don't have our own "rep" to contact but just their standard support are out of luck there.

I notice you've moved to Boxing. Here is hoping I'm not far behind now then.

BTW Are people seeing this Boxing thing on the website or only via the phone number I've seen mentioned?

I just called twice. The first time the automated message just said the same as the website has been saying for weeks. Ie In Production.

The second call I spoke to a lady, obviously in India, who said I'm in the "final stages of build". I guess that's a bit better than just "In Production". I'll just have to wait and see if my EDD get's bumped again next week.

 

But wait....you shipped right? I mean you got a tracking # no?

 

i hope not, you will probably hit boxing on friday. and ship on the 16th. they must have gotten some shipments or at least went out and got their hands on whatever they were short on, mainly the SSD and the wireless cards? hopefully that is the case, i wouldn't want returned/problematic R2s to be sent to me.

edit: nope, the automated phone only tells me its in boxing stage. guess i'll have to wait till friday.

 

I got it today

The only thing I see so far is that the book is half the thickness of the m15x and seems like it has been used already. It already has the crease in the binder I hope the rest of the system is not used. I didnt fire it up yet, I'm still entertaining my kids.. Go to sleep kids NOW!!!

Corporate Dell gave me a call today in reference to my BBB complaint. And they have the emails between me and the dell notify team and perfusly appologized for quote "a mistake with there system that is being worked on" and are in the process of capturing the system that was intransit to the states that was to be my original order. Fingers crossed cuz if this workes out i might have it sooner then 4-5 !!!

 

there would be some freebies being thrown in by dell if i were in your situation.

Well, after watching this thread for a while I can confirm that whenever you order an Alienware M17x it takes 1 month to build (if not more for delays, etc.) and your shipping method time to deliver. For some strange reason I thought that when you order the system it ships out within the week.

I guess there is a lot more to building the Alienware than your avg PC. After seeing the business side of dell deliver an entire desktop (kbd/monitor/tower) within 3 days or less, I figured the higher level Alienware would be much similar, if not just a week's wait at most.

Now through experience I am finding out that this is quite the custom computer (and quite in demand apparently). Parts are scarce and delays are aplenty.

Still waiting for mine, order date 03/01/10. EDD 03/30/10. Date I expect it to ship and be at my house 04/15/10 or later.

 

I forgot to add that as an example:

Dell Vostro 220 desktop with 22" Flat Panel monitor, 500gb HDD, dvd burner, etc

Order date: 02/19/10. EDD: 02/25/10. Actual ship date: 02/23/10 monday morning. *sigh*

 

It doesn't take a month to build--more like a day or two (once they actually get started). All these delays are clearly a supply chain issue. I guess I hit the sweet spot, timing-wise. I ordered on the evening of 1/25, with an original EDD of 2/19. It shipped on 2/5 and arrived on 2/6 for a total of 12 days.

That's consistent with 3 other custom Dell laptop orders I've made in the past few years (including an XPS back in 2007). They have always estimated about 3 weeks and delivered in 2 when things are working properly.

Ordered my m17x R2 on 1-27-2010. Recevied it 20 minutes ago (3-10-2010). Why is 1280 by 800 not an avalible resolution?

 

why would you want that resolution what screen did you get with your laptop? just in case let me google that for you

 

1900 x 1200 is to small for me. I'm old... vision failing...
The RGB LED is fantastic. Great color and brightness.

 

you can still max the res and tell windows to make your icons and text larger.
