so did you take those pictures? -
Congrats to you too
any first impressions? -
I can look at it and tell. Take your old laptop or desktop screen with one solid color you notice dark areas in some colors. It due to the Backlight On the reb lcd it will be one solid color.
-
Lovin it!. Haven't had as much time to play on it as I'd like, but been playing a lot of Crysis Warhead with super smooth frame rates, and really like the Mamba! How about you? How's the new Mamba working out?
-
Congrats!! About time I'm sure. Looks like Dell is slowly getting to all the early orders...
-
Your very lucky. I have been on the phone all day and the local delivery company logistic actually, has lost my laptop
-
I could wait it out earlier but as it's getting closer to my EDD, the days seem longer!!
-
whaaaat?? They better fond it fast!!
I know how u feel.. It'll be over before u know it, hang for just a little longer -
Yeah I'm sure it is, just wish i could make sure...
Ick is it just me or does the touch pad driver need a little tuning? -
It's just crap. No amount of tuning will help unfortunately
-
Its yuck tbh. Do i just uninstall it?
-
I kept it because it disables itself when an external mice is present.
-
@ybbor, update us, did they find your precious ?

They just canceled mine without permission 2 days ago (so that's the 3rd time for me). But I was compensated with a 15% discount, Free Mamba mouse, Free upgrade from 128-256gb ssd because there was no more option for a second hard drive which also kind of pissed me off, and a free upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate. And a promise that my order will be expedited so that I'll receive it in 8-10 days max (which I kind of doubt, knowing there awesome track record, but there's always hope and it's something nice to hear regardless) and of course free next day shipping which was obviously a given.
So to everyone who got lamed by alienware, make sure you get compensated. They already give discounts to people who know how to get them and to people who can haggle. So not getting compensated when THEY screw up is out of the question in my opinion.
(Now I have to change my avatar too, boooo) -
maybe you could share the process you went through so that people in similar situation (delta..) could benefit from it.
-
Just called the automated line, I think I moved up 2 days? It says it's scheduled to ship 3/16, used to be 3/18, or maybe that is the EDD even though I have NBD
I guess we'll see soon enough -
Ok my update is delivery 15th :-(. After building it and shippng to australlia quite quickly they then really stuffed up. 6 days to get it from Sydney to cairns ( 3h flight). I could not believe it :-( and I have written to a number of managers and a 60 dollar mouse is all the compensation and they even got the wrong one.
This laptop better be amazing else never another Dell for me. I have never had so little a responce from a company. I guess that is what happens when they take your money before even starting the build.
So 2 hours on phones and many email resulted in a 43 day wait. Grrr -
Sorry to hear that mate. One thing i can tell you is that once you get it all this will be forgotten and you'll be very pleased with it.
And what is this freight company that takes 3 days to deliver inside the country.. i mean DHL took 3 days to get mine from US to Israel.. wth ? -
Well let me start off by saying I was on the phone with them for roughly 2 and a half hours straight.
First I called the order information people to find out why my order got canceled. The rep didn't really know why it got canceled and was just feeding me bullsh*t. Who knows what goes on at dell, really... Anyway after that got sorted out I got transferred with hopes that my order will be reinstated, OK fine, I wait on hold some more and get transferred. They were really quick to try and reinstate it which kind of surprised me so I asked them "when you reinstate my order will it be like I purchased a brand new machine or will it continue from when it got canceled" in which they told me that it would be like a new order. Well when I heard that I told him there's no way I'm going to just let you reinstate it like that, forcing me to wait the full time, so I would like some compensation for all the trouble you've put me through. The guy said he can't do that directly and that he would transfer me to his colleague (which was an alienware sales rep)
So basically I started of at let's say step 4 about to receive my laptop after having it delayed twice and end up at Step 1 talking to a Dell Sales Rep all over again.
He reviewed my order and told me the best he could do with give me 50$ off and next day shipping if he reinstates my order in which I told him blatantly... no. I told him a nice story of how I ordered on the 19th of January and other personal issues as to why this has caused me so much trouble. I told him then that I would like to build a brand new order. So we did. I rebuilt my laptop on the phone with him exactly the same as my old laptop with the exception of windows 7 ultimate (which I was planning on making sure he includes for free). He then told me some bad news, that the secondary hard drives were no longer available. Which made me pretty angry, because if my old order had not been canceled I would of had my secondary hard drive and it was THEIR fault that I'm not getting it now so it's only fair that I get the upgrade to a 256ssd for free. He talked to his manager for like 10 minutes and let me upgrade for free. We finished up the build and then got down to the numbers. I told him I want a 20% discount, along with a Razer Mamba mouse and the upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate to be free. He put me on hold AGAIN probably talking to his manager, and told me the best he could do was 10% with my order expedited to come in 8-10 days, along with next day shipping, plus the mamba mouse and Windows 7 ultimate. We talked some more and it got to the point where I was about to hang up and purchase my computer elsewhere (I was serious about this too not just fronting) but he was reluctant to let me hang up and told me the best he could do was 15% along with the other great stuff which was fine with me. He didn't seem happy at all but I could of cared less at the time.
He said he was going to call me on day 7 or 8 to see how my order is doing. If I have to wait longer then 10 days I'm also planning on some compensation for that as well maybe like a free backpack or something.
But yea that's the story. Kudos to you if you read it all
I also want to add that if your order has gotten canceled recently. That you should just be happy that you were forced to wait and go ahead and wait a few more days until the 5870's come out, you'll be better off in the long run. -
nice one!
good deal you got yourself there. -
corprate dell gave me a call in reference to my cancelation & BBB, said they were in the process of capturing the laptop that was built for my first order.
-
Those are good news!! Guess BBB really works. No way they'd work that hard without this complain...
-
BBB didnt work for me, and i didnt get any response from the dell manager rep either.
-
Guys, your waiting stress will be forgotten the moment you get the system! It's just perfect, especially the RGB LED! Just got mine and comparing to the R1 ...wow. The screen does it all. Now if only I could find a way to make it anti-glare...
-
The BBB is definitely worth a shot if you're having trouble. I contacted them once regarding this 3 year contract that I was unfairly forced into. I get a call from the company a few days later and the contract was removed and I didn't have to pay a cancellation fee. They can't always come through though if it's out of their hands. But know this... COMPANIES are SCARED of the BBB when they're at fault because the BBB will actually do something if you're being treated unfairly.
-
And what will the BBB do that they are so afraid of?
-
is anyone else gettin delayed? or possibly? im in US, california, and i called its been "in production" since the 2/24 and i jsut called and they emailed me back saying "Kindly accept my sincere apologies for the trouble and delay. We are working to do all we can to fulfill the orders as quickly as possible. We are continuing to experience some industry-wide constraints and extended delivery times on some components. These include select LCD panels, graphics cards, and certain memory types. "
-
yes pmode everyones been delayed at least a month its normal at the moment
-
^ not everyone
Darth Vato got his way quick.
-
he sleeped with michal dell tho that cheater
-
my computer's build is on a par with how long it takes Blizzard to release a video game.
-
super quality then !!!!!!
-
I got a call today from my 'customer care rep' - she told me that my order was "on hold" as they are out of wireless cards - I said to her "I ordered the basic card", she agreed with me - so being pretty pissed getting this news i said "well put the F'ing better card in and ship the F'ing box already!"
she replied "oh no sir, that would mean canceling this order and re-ordering"
I told her to shove the F'ing this up her a$$
I'm so sick of them -
Yeah I don't get how you have to reorder to get upgrades, complete bullISH
-
So did you cancel after you told her? Remember dude, it's not her fault. No reason to take it out on her.
-
True, but it is sometimes SO therapeutic
The whole problem with Dell on this is that they can't give any reason or clear time lines for fulfilling orders... a simple notification of a delay due to a part with the option of a different part would be nice... but that screws with their batch ordering. The fact ASUS seems to do stuff like this with ease tells me Dell is either not doing something right or getting jacked around by their suppliers... -
Lol, so she goes home pissy and freaks out at her husband. Thats Therapeutic.
I guess its the circle of pissyness
-
dell is pathetic in terms of customer service compared to other big companies, at least in regards to this backordering fiasco. They should openly apologize to everyone for waiting anywhere between 1 and 2 months for the delay and the lack of communication between themselves and the customers. It isn't dell's first time either, dell has repeatedly been sued for poor or the lack of customer service and according to dell, they have increased funding in that department, but as you all know, most, if not all the technicians and/or the customer sales reps have no idea what they are doing or talking about. Maybe dell needs to be sued again to be reminded them of their promise to bring up their standards in the customer service department.
edit: just being angry... -
We can understand, you delay is horrid. I'm even disgusted. Even though i already got mine. The wait was pathetic. The screen is sexy though...Love the way the reds pop out at ya.
-
Well ya know what, it isn't my fault either yet I'm on the sh!t of this process
She gets paid to make these phone calls, she doesn't work for free, so ya, it IS her job to take the heat for her company sucking
I've worked in customer support and now i'm in sales, I understand how to set expectations with customers and meet them, and if someone on my team screws up my phone will ring and I take the crap for the mistake and I make it right
Dell could take a customer service 101 class -
9 - March release from customs to Schenker Australia Pty Ltd
12 - March given to startrack express
15 - March EDD
Schenker has taken 3 days to unload a box and pass it to delivery company, you call that logistics? I call that underresourced!!
thinking of what to do to expresses my disapointment to dell. Eg a letter...... sigh what happened to the days of an easy letter bomb
List everyone M17x-R2 ETA
