Hello everyone. I just cancel my Asus G73JH-A1 today and join the M17X-R2 waiting club today................

I say call customer care, and complain. You might even score something in the process if you ask for it.

 

I put my order on 03/05 together with a backpack. The backpack reached me couple days ago, and the online order status of the laptop showed "In Production", ETA 04/02. Yet when I called the automated system, it told me that the order was being processed. Is there a difference?

I am really confused by Dell.

 

My friend got his machine today. I am really curious to know how some people get them without delay and some keep getting pushed back over and over and then canceled. His unit was not anything special and he got it about 3 weeks after ordering it.

On a side note he ordered two drives and the bigger as the secondary. In all of their wisdom Dell put the OS on the bigger drive.. DUH..

 

they better have not put the os on my 500gb instead of my ssd.

 

did he order the RGB screen ?
if he ordered LCD it might be the reason...

it's better to reinstall windows from scratch anyway...

 

In production and being processed both mean that the laptop is being built to your specifications, the next stage will be shipping and then it will be yours =)

Hello everyone, i've been reading this thread a bit and understand the heartache, so I thought i'd join in. Though one thing I don't understand, and maybe i'm just stupid, is what is this RGB LED, also what does R2 mean?

Order Date: March 2, 2010
ESD: March 25, 2010
EDD: April 22, 2010

 

you ordered the R2 since it's with the new intel processors family. R1 was with based on NVIDIA boards, and came with previous generations procs.

RGB LED is the new screen that is offered with the R2 model, and one word to describe it is AWESOME.. have a look at my sig (more pix) to see a difference between normal LCD and that (it doesn't make it justice but it's something)

mine was ordered March 01, 2010 and the EDD was March 17th. When I looked at the order status page this morning, the EDD has been bumped back to April 26th!

Here are my specs: (This is a replacement for my M1730 btw.)

i7 820QM
4GB DDR3 1333MHz
17" WidgeUXGA 1920x1200 (no rgb in europe :/)
Dual ATI HD 4870
500GB Serial ATA (7200RPM)

What I'm wondering about is the hard drive. In Norway, single 500GB is not an option, so I hope that doesn't screw up the order. It still haven't went into the production stage, and it should have done that after 12 days?

 

thanks for clearing that up for me mfractal, I feel kind of left out without the RGB LED though, either it wasn't available when I ordered, or I saw the price and said hell no i'll have to check those pictures out later because where i'm at right now imageshack is not viewable

 

Mine is waiting for me in my Apt Office bulding only 3hrs & 38mins till they open. I ordered on 2/22 & here it is 18 days later & I got mine. hell it would have been 17 days if I didn't have to work for a living....

I did not care if it was Core 2 or i7 I wanted Stable system. Becuse they are both good chips.

I order the r2 hoping there would be no issues. Wrong lol.

Windows 7 cd drivers, Dell drivers and Bata drivers. Sleep mode issue still happen.

Late tonight I think I will reinstall windows.

I am harsh due to the fact this is my 3 Alienware laptop with Issues. It bad when you can name the Tech by name when you call them.

Frist laptop would top off at 100c and shut off. gpu replaced once heatsink replaced many times. Then when they got that fix I had sleep mode issues

Second laptop ran good but keyboard lighting did not work 2 times and some sleep mode issues. Then overheating one gpu at 110c.

Now this.

did you order from dell in europe? rgbleds are not available there...

 

Just online through Dell, not sure if they could like register my ip or something to determine that, if so yeah then it would pick me up as in europe

 

if you went to dell.com you reached US dell... so that means RGB was available, and you just skipped it.. Too bad if you ask me, cause this thing is gorgeous!

 

No kidding mfractal. Dang thing really bright and the colors are killer even if you lower the brightness.

 

oh so atol, are those 640gb drives really 7200 rpm ???

Not sure why people are getting delays and cancelled

 

I am here in the states and I placed my order 03/01/10. Thought I would be waiting 1, maybe 2 weeks. Got the laptop bag quick, laptop itself was scheduled for March 30th. I thought that was a bit odd, until I came here. Seems like everyone gets an EDD of one month from ordering. Some people are unfortunate and end up getting delayed beyond that month....and a select few actually get their machine within a reasonable 2 week time frame.

This is usually based on what configuration you requested upon ordering.

 

Yes, Dell has had rolling issues with parts supplies, so for a time it was the RGB LED screens, then on top the SSD seems to have been an issue, and the higher end wireless card. Frankly, I think Dell needs to have fewer options, make the machine a high end rig overall enhancing the brand name, and then they could buy in larger quantities and offer a better price. But they didn't ask me

 

Yea that happens.. depending on selections made..
It just sucks that I have no clue on actual the estimated delivery date.
Mine is a replacement so its unavail on the website/phone.. Just current status is viewable.. Same thing on my other r1 replacement.. I didnt know what the date was and just waited for the shipped notification.. I hope I dont have to wait a month or longer... :-(

 

Well, I hope this is the last weekend in my life without my R2, supposed to ship on Tuesday!

I just finished week 2 and it's still "in production" so I expect sometime next week I will get a change in status. Not necessarily a "shipped", but a change in status.

 

It's week 4 going on week 5 for me and still in production/build stage. Hopefully the weekend will bring good news b/c my EDD is for 3/17th

 

again i woke up this morning, which would be the 3rd day of my boxing since i called wednesday morning and heard boxing from the phone lady, i got another delay cancellation bs notice. I am going nuts. so now my eta is pushed back again to 3/18. . DIES* dell is freaking playing with me.

i'm doing just as bad delta, lets hope they dont "accidentally" cancel my order and F things up, not saying they haven't already. I don't plan to purchase from dell, ever. Just sent another email to a senior rep but heck, i don't expect a reply.

 

you will most probably ship today. the same happened to me, i was scheduled on 3/3, they sent a order delayed on 3/3 with a date of 8/3. on 4/3 (third boxing day) they shipped.

hey mfractal, I like the avatar where'd you get the alien language for it, or is that just a basic picture you put mfractal at the bottom of?

 

go to the us dell site, start specing out an R2, and under the personalization, it'll generate a plaque preview with any text you put in the box save the pic and you're done.

i think once they dont find my order and say that the new order will have to suffice ill demand them send me an i7-820 that i can swap out the 720 when i receive it

 

They should be approving you for a free 920XM upgrade with all the crap they've been putting you through. I'd be pushing for an upgrade like that.

 

thats a very expensive upgrade and with the price i paid for this system already they would definatly deny it

 

i really dont see how there making money off of 1945 anyway

 

you could try to push for 920 and if they don't agree fall back to 820
