Web link doesn't work for me either at the moment. Guess the order status server is down or something. I went into production this morning. Ordered only 2 days before you..
-
i cannot wait till 5870s or what ever is released for the m17x
but as the last batch of m17s that went out the door had loads of delays, if i order in a couple of weeks i might be playing on christmas day

I do believe anybody planning to buy should wait, and for you guys who have the option to cancel the build, Cancel! you dont need the extra hassle, i'm also planning and its making me angry!! but its worth the wait...
-
Easier said than done, LOL
-
woo it has arrived
-
pics or shens
lemme know how the 620 is, that's what I got, too -
I finally got to see the picture you posted of the package. WOW! I can't believe you got an M17x-R2 not in it's normal packaging. And forgetting to put in the power adapter, books, and discs?
Not to mention NO HAT! You have to have the hat! -
For Gods Sake Not The Hat!!!!!!
-
lol, I gave the hat to my little nephew. The screen is amazing, but the RGB I think, is way too bright for my eyes. I can't stare at it for too long
-
is thescreen worth the extra 250 usd?? are any pics side by side of both the ccfl and led ?
-
Lots of people will say yes
-
Yes, the hat is a must...how else are you suppose to identify all the other Alienware owners?
-
Simple solution, turn down the brightness. The panel is only ~310+ nits, which is bright but shouldn't be uncomfortable. Desktop displays can be much brighter. Like I said, turn it down if it bothers ya. -
Yeah I was gonna say this, you can do that.....right?
-
Yeah, I finally did that but I was just mentioning how the brightness initially hit my eyes, is all
-
Sounds glorious, to be honest
can't wait to get mine -
It really is. When I opened it up me and members of my family just stood there inspecting it for awhile, lol. I've had a crappy hp laptop for 7yrs so this is a major treat
-
Just a warning that if you only ordered one drive you'll probably need to chase Dell for the 2nd drive bracket/caddy thing.
I know I have to chase them up when I get the chance as I'm considering buying a 2nd (faster) SSD to install. -
wooopppp my R2 came in today 3 days early. And I was getting worried about delays. Sheesh you guys drove me crazy. This thing is huge, about to install sacred 2 and gta4 on it and see how it handles. I can run bench marks but know nothing about them or sites for testing.
-
Was one of the first things I did! I was suppose to get an email detailing the order but no email. Thankfully I have the reps ext and name
-
It's a monster. Funny I, not long ago, thought my 15inch hp was huge!
-
So I just emailed a rep I had been working with, asking about a status update on my order since it hasn't moved from build but has an EDD of tomorrow. He quickly called me and informed me of what was going on. All my experiences with dells customer care have been nothing short of fantastic.
I guess I am lucky I haven't got the people you guys have used, cause these guys have been very nice. When you realize that there isn't much they can do (if anything) to progress your order, and that they are trying their damndest to please you, it's easier to deal with them.
Now I just wish they spoke/wrote better english... -
Yup, with Dell patience is the key. If you're patient enough, they will eventually come through with whatever you need to make it right. It can be a frustrating endeavor at times but in the end most people are happy. My girlfriend's SXPS 16 just started having it's palm rest silver lining chip away (she hasn't done anything to cause it), we went into tech support chat, requested a new one and it was sent here in one business day. I'll be installing it tonight. That's pretty damn good service.

see the more pix link in my sig

So after a long day of agony i got a replace ment system orderd my price is still 1945 but the new specs are i7-920xm, 6gb 1333 ram, 320 raid 0 and the rest... the stuff i went threw means nothing after an upgrade like that.
-
WOOW!!
-
Lol man thats epic. I am not sure I would want to go through all that for that, but then again, I wouldn't mind that setup
-
Maybe they can next-day you a power supply so you can play while you wait! Sweet deal-but you've earned it.
-
yeah there next daying all the parts that were supposed to come with this laptop now and when the new system comes i just swap the laptops slap the return label that will be waiting in the box and im good to go.
-
Awesome deal!!! Definitely got a steal for that price, but you suffered a lot of agony..at least they made it right for you. Still sucks that you had to go through all of it, but congrats!!
-
920xm is great for the resale price but to be perfectly honest, you'd have been better off with the i820. The reason I say this is because the performance difference isn't very much in games and the i820 uses less power which gives you more headroom to OC your GPU's. The 920xm is a power vacuum so the power trip is reached pretty early on (I can get flickering in some games if I push both GPU's to 620ish/1150). I'd imagine with the i820's smaller power footprint, it will allow the GPU to scale at least 30 mhz higher on the core without tripping the power limit.
The 5870m's should further help since they consume around 10w less per card. Hopefully the R2 with the 5870s isn't a complete motherboard revision (with USB 3.0) because then the chances of upgrading are even more slim. Right now I'm stuck between deciding to send this back for a refund and wait it out or to let them send me the new one and then sell it for $100 above what I paid. It would still be a bargain for anyone that buys it and I'd make a little off it..hmmm. -
i dont intend to really overclock that much the stocks are fine and if its free who cares about the 820
-
Well as long as you don't plan to do any OC'ing it's fine. Personally I regret getting the i920xm. I could have saved a large chunk of cash, had a cooler and quieter running system (i920xm gets toasty and pushes the fans often) and OC'd my GPU's higher. Oh well live and learn, I doubt I'll be sticking with this system in the next two weeks.
-
ill invest in liquid nitrogen ill be scraight
-
Got the hookup, they should hook up our military people! You deserve it! (send me the 920XM and I can send you my 820 if you want
)

And still waiting, I still hate DELL!! I just don't understand how this happens in logistics. Australia Dell uses Schenker, snail systems -
Congrats! Especially since you can use the refurbished one until your arrives (who knows maybe you'll get the 5870 as well).
I was looking at the Dell's site and I love how under both video card options for the M17x it says choosing this option may delay your purchase. Such a Dell thing to do. -
I just received my Alienware Tactx headset, Razer Mamba, Orion backpack, and Cryo LX today. All I need is my M17X-R2................
Current stage: In production -
Sweet upgrade u got yourself there! Me likes! -
Sad information: anybody with an m17x wont be able to upgrade to 5870 because the cards are bigger, dell will have to change the mobo. Unless the decide to change the reference GPU...
-
where's that info coming from ?
-
I had some issue with my laptop. One of the hard drive in raid messing up. But No Windows cd. So I have to wait for that before formatting and reinstalling windows.
And for 5150Joker. The 720 is not bad. I only ran it on Lotro and flatout 2 and the temps been around 75c for gpus and 60c in cpus.
I love this part I have my laptop plug into 42 inch HD TV. God the picture great. -
I'd like to know this too...
-
Got a delayed till 3-24 email. The email
says nothing about requiring a response or it auto
cancels. Does mention that if I want to cancel I can email or call though.....
So, is there a reason to call and tell them not to cancel
it, or should I be fine with my new Edd? -
I would call to make sure, someone else already had theirs canceled automatically even after sending an email to continue...
-
I would call also.
-
that's the number you wanna call 1-877-868-3355 in case you need it.
