Prime is the slowest way to check stability (as you have do run t for 24+++ hours to be sure).
Use OCCT![]()

prime95 or occt. streeses your computer components for stability. if you run prime95 for 5 mins and see if you blue screen and watch your temps. if it is blue screens then your overclock is to high and should only be used for benchmarking if it runs fine then your good to run it 24/7.
so run and overclock and repeat. then when you bluescreen, back it down a notch and then run prime for a hour for max heat and you know were your cpu stands. -
Broke 15k by setting the cpu multiplier to 11.5 (3.06) but doing a quick 10 min test with occt it quit halfway through witha cpu to hot error, so looks like i gotta back down to x11

OK, been running prime for about 10 minutes. CPU is at 69C. I deleted OCCT, kept getting errors just trying to load the program.
-
nothing...just sit there and stare at the screen for about 5 minutes or so and see if you see any errors...
lol -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
for 11x is for stabile 24/x use. and use 11.5 for benchmarking.
-
no errors.
-
crysis jumped a little @3.46 Ghz, Min=32, Avg=34 and Max=55.
-
OK, re-downloaded OCCT and it seems to work. How long do I run it for?
Edit: The program quacked at me after 10 minutes. -
did the same thing to me at 3.06 been running prime95 right now with no issues though.
-
do u think crysis is playable on very high with 4x aa on ur rig, is it possible to do a benchmark to find out average fps for it, coz i am really curious and thinking of buying m17x.
-
by the way what are safe temps for the cpu and the chipset?
-
1 hour in prime95 isn't even close to be considered stable...
1920x1200, very high, 4x aa...
You don't think that it's asking a bit too much from a notebook?
-
looks like i can't go any higher than 3.06 otherwise i get bsod's. need more voltage
-
All of the current Core 2 Quad Mobile CPUs are rated to 100°C; Core 2 Duo CPUs up to 105°C.
Chipset is unknown to me. -
ok thanks as i had my temps @ 3.06 under 100% load reaching 86c at it's highest point then the fans kicked in and brought it down to about 80c
-
I haven't been able to push it above 69c.
-
this is very good news!
you checked to make sure it was running dx10 and at 1920x1080? we have allot of non believers that love to nitpick scoring.... -
new personal record for me with this laptop so far on 3dmark06 @ 3.06 using dox182.46 drivers, with stock drivers on 3.06 score was 15.1k jumped over 400 points with the driver switch
-
yes. Not too big of a difference from my screen shot.
-
I've tried two of the newer dox drivers and they don't work at all. So far the 182.46 drivers are the best ones for this system.
-
yes i first tried the dox 185.86 drivers and when on discrete gpu's the screen was all distorted but on integrated everything was fine.
-
so ~10400 GPU score is what stock 280M sli can get? what about gpu score in extreme?
My 8800M GTX SLI can get 8500 in stock. so this is like a ~20-25% boost. -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
nice i like what i am seeing from your stock scores mandrake.
what other games/demos do you have.
can you try this it is newer so alot of people won't know how it is and what should you be hitting.
http://www.gamedaily.com/games/x3-t...ds/x3-terran-conflict-rolling-benchmark-demo/
maxed out no aa. my 3870's got 61fps average. -
Has anyone experienced any micro stuttering with the dual 280m's?
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
hey mandrake i wanted to run some cpu benchmarks with you to see my e8600 @3.33ghz vs your [email protected]. is that ok with you?
-
downloading...
Sure. I'll be more awake to do it tomorrow.
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
oh no problem. i will threw up what i have later on and tomorrow you can post yours.
edit i will put all my benchmarks on this post,
superpi

almost broke 16k on this run!
-
Thanks. Now I see the temps, and I see where performance is. If you can get more speed on the QX9300 and start OV'ing and OC'ing the GPUs, 18k is not out of the question. But if you do go for that, you'll probably want a cooler.
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
nice you can do more tweaks to easily break 16,000.
yeah the temps are alittle higher then i thought it would be. i wouldnt overvolt without a cooler as well if i were you. -
yeah i already plan on getting a cooler just not sure which one yet.
the qx9300 is at 3.06 right now, if any higher it BSOD's.
The GPU's right now are overclocked at 650/1000/1650, which i'm not sure if can go to much higher on that. -
Jesus christ... Kcissem system isn't 100% maxed only because don't have bluray burner
BTW great score kcissem
-
well the temps being a bit high is more or less due to my house ambient temperature, i'm skimpy on the AC.
which is why i need a cooler
-
the burner wasn't an option when i ordered otherwise it would've been in my specs too
-
Who wants to go to war against my 2.1 GTX 260M!?
j/k
Seriously though, has anyone done a Vantage run with a single MXM 3.0 260M?
All this talk of CPUs and FSB and memory timings... get to the GPUs people! A benchmark thread this long should have more than one attempt at overclocking.
Would someone please dump a 260M/280M BIOS for me so I can take a look at it? -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
me to please. i also wanted to run with a single 280m same clocks and then i push mines.
-
Nzxt Cryo
from newegg.com ... -
Here is a Vantage run, notice over 11k for the gpu
-
O very nice the Asus might have to move over pretty soon
Tweak the System and BAM
-
Hey Kevin ill take you on it seems i am the only serious user that only got a single 260
-
Can you give us info on the OC of the GPU that you made, the settings and which program you used. Also, is it completely stable? -
oc settings are in my sig but to say again
qx9300 oc'd to 3.06
280m sli using dox 182.46 drivers and oc'd to 650|1000|1650.
Also it appears to be stable occt gpu tests for 20 minutes passes with no errors, though the qx9300 oc'd to 3.06 fails the cpu occt test with error cpu to hot, prime95 though it passes with no errors. Still for 24/7 use i'll go back 2.93 to be safe, will also lower my final gpu clocks a bit to for 24/7 use. I will only up it to my max clocks for benchmarks. -
well keep pumping you need to break the Asus record
-
Turn off PhysX when you run Vantage. Level the playing field with ATi.
-
now that is what i call numbers... ty Ov'ing and oc'ing the Vga's and run one vantae @ 2.8...
if you beat this score from ATI then will get the final results for Nvidia vs ati....
please run the test like i poropose... becouse if you beat that score it will be a good indicator that this time Ati is down and nvidia is the new Owned King lol....
bguards m8 -
That would be great Moo. We can do a direct comparison between the two different 260M modules. I have a Vantage key you can use too.
Once you get your M17X, prepare for war! -
The playing field (IMO) will never be level. Two different techs. Better to compare same cards in different systems.
-
X3 demo running my system at 3.60Ghz.
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
what settings did you use.
M17x Benchmarks thread !!!
