39 FPS for that resolution. Meh I will sum up real quick. They set up raid array incorrectly, so i had to go into bios and do it myself. Thus resulting in a clean install of vista, after i installed vista+drivers keyboard wouldn't light up. Talked to multiple alienware tech support guys, they had me reinstall vista and totally clean thre hard drives. then EVERY light went out. media buttons and everything. Tried for days to fix lights, several hours on phone with alien ware and the company who created command center. They couldn't figure it out so sales rep offered me a replacement...(exhale)

Heh this is the machine you want to screw with since it's going back. That way when the new one comes you know what tweaks you have to make and what drivers you should be running.

Updating drivers and changing BIOS settings does not void your warranty. ;)

Planning on getting. Would have had already if they didn't leak rumors of the 4800 cards. Giving it another week and a half-ish before I give up and order GTX 280M SLI.

Why I'm waiting John. June 2 when it was released they said a month or two for the 4800 cards.

I don't' need a notebook now (I want a notebook now) which is why I'll wait 'til the mid of July for any news. If I hear something about them I'll wait longer...if not I'll order the GTX 280M.

This is a benchmark thread though not an order status thread.

Completely different system and I understand why they aren't going to offer it for it.

There was never any proof of the m17 having those cards installed whereas I have seen product proof (ie screenshots, labels, chaz, and even my user manual) that the 4800's are coming for the M17x.

no one believes in the 4850/4870 evidentally ddr5 will never come from ATI...but i would think they are due soon since... the 4850 ddr3 came out when ?

Yea that however also means Nvidia cards with DDR5 are just around the corner as well... I prefer Nvidia personally, more games are customized for them, and they have a larger base... which is why almost every game is tailored for Nvidia and they have exclusive rights to things such as PhsyX

they will come mr moo..no doubt..but it's these people carrying on like it's coming out tomorrow. and it's been like that since jan of this year. when they come...they will come...untill then...we should act as if they don't exist..untill one hits in a laptop for the world to see....it aint out.(openly that is) and people have been using this as a crutch..when the 4850's/4870's have been doing quite well for themselves thus far. as we seen by prior benchmarks...

Yeah I assume that is sequential with OS tweaks. What about writes? Did you use default settings in Crystal to get that?

    Here's my first run...

Edit 1: Sequential writes jumped to 158.8 on the second run.

Personally I am not ready to make that jump yet when I can get better GPU's or higher Ram for that money... I will definitely buy an SSD in the near future as we see lower prices and SSD's being outfitted with more memory... I believe they will be releasing a 500gb soon... or was it a 320? hmmmgb

problem with that...when your ready to buy a 120 ssd drive..they will be up to 500gbs and higher...and the same prices most people dont want to pay now for 64s/120s/256s...are going to still be there in the future....it's an on going thing....
