well i understand both of you. i will do this when i purchase more hdds to see if there's a difference. i have an extra 120gb @5400rpm but it's slow and when i placed it in my clevo it brought down my system performance.

that's what i did. but i had random freezes with it in. it was horrbile.(felt like my whitebook with the stutter)(i disable the index and there was no pagefile or anything relating to the os on it) so i didn't know at the time what was causing it until i pulled it out.
here's a picture of it's performance.

Wow, that's really bad man!
Something is seriously wrong. Do you have the drive set up correctly in the bios?
Is that drive a SATA drive. If not, that may be your problem. Your other drives are SATA so SATA is likely enabled in the bios. -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
yeah i did. i talked to my reseller about it and he said that it looks like the hdd will die soon.
-
Let us know how it goes when you get a new drive.
I thought it might have been an old IDE drive. -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Lol. no it's a sata. tomorrow after work i will put it back and see what's up with it.
-
Too bad you don't have another HDD to try out.
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
i know. i'm more focused on the gpu and the cpu then hdd space. but i will upgrade those.

How does any of this page (Page 155-156) have anything to do with benchmarks on the M17x?

so who is the current top dogg of laptops these days??
-
Ask that in this thread and take a wild guess on what that answer is.

well the topdog of laptops is -
GET SOME !!!!!!!! -
Thought it was one of these...

Someone asked me to fix a "luggable" once. When I saw it I told him he should really donate it to a museum and I was serious. Don't think you can play Crysis on high on those things.
-
Just put my P8700 back in. Running 3dMark06 right now stock.
Split personality:
Edit: 11800 stock. Yikes. -
Seriously? I was getting 11k stock with a P9600... talk about a CPU bottleneck.
-
lol...don't i know it!
-
Running @ 2.85Ghz, stock GPUs.
Small jump, big difference. -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
I can't break 13,000 I think my highest is 12,686. I postedit about 3 pages back when we were talking about windows 7.
-
Are you SLI'd yet? I'm doing another run @ 3.0 Ghz. After that I'll start with the GPUs.
13770 @ 3.0Ghz. -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
not yet. 2 more weeks. but I oerclocked the living everything out of my gpu. and I calt touch my cpu.
@3.33ghz sindle 9800m gtx.
-
Trying a single card now. Won't be close to your score.
11788 with single GPU OC'd P8700 @ 3.0Ghz = SLI & CPU @ stock. Does that sound right? -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
can you bring the cpu higher. I am 107?? stock and tweaked. normal fresh install is 10135.
run it with stock speeds for everything. -
I did with my P8700@ 2.53Ghz and stock GPUs and scored 11800.
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
that's good. what's your stock clocks btw.
my stock clocks and test was 10135. not tweaked. and my cpu is faster. you're doing good for single clocks but i'm not sure how well sli scales in this benchmark until I get mines. even though it's highly cpu dependent. can you run stock runs and overclocked sli and single runs with just the two gpu run. don't do the cpu test to see where you get at. -
So your asking no OC'ing of the CPU but with OC'ing the GPU?
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
i no you can pum your cpu but i want to see the test with the cpu disabled to see how much better is it getting with sli? get me. sorry for taking so long. i am finally out of work.
-
So disable CPU part of the test and that's it?
Lost about 13 FPS off the avg w/Crysis. Another CPU heavy test?

i never knew the cpu had an effect on crysis. but you ran 8aa. can you do no aa.
you don't have to i can do math and see how your gpu is doing. i just have to look at your score. -

Not much better...

that's surprising. everything stocked except the cpu correct?
even though crysis is a nvidia game, i see ati is handing it to them. my single 3870 is the same as my 9800m gtx or maybe it stresses the components to were you barely see a difference. -
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
do you have a "high" benchmark for it. nvidia is suppose to be faster with that and i wonder if the cpu will help it.
i remember with my whitebook pushing the cpu had no effect on this benchmark either. no matter how high i pushed it. maybe because i just up'd the multiplier. (or maybe something is going on that we don't know with ati and nvidia(conspiracy)) lol JK. -
k heres my noob question >.< when you OC one of the GPU's in the sli, does the other follow suit, or is there another way to match them? heh idk much about gpu overclocking tbh
-
The faster VGA will always downclock to match the slower when in SLI.
-
heh, i guess i dont get it than >.<
-
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
Yes you have to OC both lol, cuz if you only clock one it will automatically drop back down to match the other
-
its easy to do that than? haha like you can just use the same overclocking programs as for a single card?

but what i was saying is that with whitebook, when i used my [email protected] and the [email protected], i got the same results.
