Is you system locking or are your drivers crashing? Also how did you setup your CPU fsb/mem/multiplier.

I haven't touched the CPU or FSB settings yet... I was just trying to do some simple GPU OC'ing... although as you know I don't really know that much about OCing

Which driver are you running right now? Did you disable Hybrid SLI/ integrated graphics in the bios? Also verify SLI is on and physx is off.

Yes I did disable the Hybrid SLI and intergrated GPU... I'm running 190.38, but it wasn't working on dox 186.24 either.... I have not disabled PsyX is that a problem?

I assume you mean Dox 182.46 and physx will make it less stable. It's good for games but bad when pushing the gpu.

Can you provide a screen shot of you gpu settings along with a screen shot of gpu-z?

One other thing. If you haven't OC'd your CPU yet drop your memory speed down to 1066. I have found that a 1:2 ratio will help with stability. Try Vantage after that.

Ok here you go, even these settings have caused massive frame drops in 3dmark and GTAIV at least the benchmarks....

One other dumb question. When setting your clocks you're doing it to both GeForce GTX 280M #1 and GeForce GTX 280M #2, right?

Yes of course ;) lol.... and yes I rechecked and both are disable... the only thing out of the 4 items enabled is the PCI-cards... is it possible it may just be the PsyX? I haven't tested it without PsyX on becuase it gives games a boost doesn't it?

if you are having low framerates it maybe because of the memory cooling. when i push my gpu memory to it limits, i have to keep the gpu under 70c because the memory gets very hot. but because there's no temp on it i can't tell you how hot it gets.

keep the memory at 950 and see what happens. also can you take a screen shot of hwmoniter.

and when you say low framrates please explain. gta4 doesn't support sli and it cpu dependent. can you try annother game like dmc4.

also why are you overclocking when you game. my single 9800m gtx stocked@500/1250/800 can run any game smaxed so there's no reason to run 280m GTX SLI overclocked. only overclock when benchmarking. unless you notebook is old and can't keep up with todays games

For benchmarking ;) and a possible increase of FPS on a game like crysis even though I already get around 30fps on maxed 1900x1200

Physx helps take away some of the load off the CPU and puts it on the GPU. So when OC'ing it can be less stable. If your not OC'ing and just gaming it can be helpful.

Did you change the memory setting? If so run Vantage. If it's still unstable disable Physx. Make sure you only make one change at a time when testing.

Ok guys so I've narrowed it down to either Memory settings like dondadah said or it was psyX causing the problems... I just ran at the following settings and saw some good improvements....

Off to up memory clocks and see if that effects it

Yea I think it was his SLI connector, but we will see he should be having a tech come and give him a new one soon... Anyway it is looking like psyX was the culprit
I upped the memory clock and my scores and fps went up even higher so that's good... I'm going to run it at these settings once more with psyX though just to be sure... and yes Mandrake I am running vantage I just hit 11,000

besides...time to pass the reigns to the next gen laptop over clockers.. :)

Mandrake... see now I am confuzzled I ran again with psyX enabled and it worked fine this time... same clock speeds on the GPU... the scores were a little lower, however now I am thinking the problem simply revolved around the fact I was using the 6.02 control panel instead od the 6.05....

really and truly everyone at the w90 forums are mad and most are selling. because asus has alot of law suits out for them. i'm happy i didn't buy it.

but ichime has one and he is also getting the w90 so we can see more runs.

Yeah, I have the W90 now, but still waiting for the M17x (Phase 4, but EDD is around August 29th now). Overall, the W90 is a good machine. It's pretty big, but no where near being 2.48 inches thick; it's more like 2 inches. I'm a pretty big guy myself, so I can handle using it on my lap from time to time. Sound system is very loud, though can't say the same about the fans (much quieter than that of the W840/whitebook).

Anyways, I'm still having trouble installing the VGA drivers. Performance in Vantage and some other benchmarks are a bit lower on average from what I've seen, but I'll toggle it more when I have time. Also, CPU overclocking isn't scaling as well as what I've seen. It could be the CPU itself, an E8435, but after swapping a P8400 in, it scaled with overclocking.

Nonetheless, my best Vantage GPU run so far is somewhere north of 11700, with a base of around 10300 stock (though master-master setup, 9.4 drivers). But I seriously can't wait for the M17x to see what it can do ;)

hummmm, seems the w90 wasn't in the right users hands at first... or...yes there is a or....i haven't been in the w90 thread to see the last set of scores. have they made it to the 12k mark on gpu? and since both can over clock cpu's...you guys are gonna have to start cranking these numbers out as well.

John I have issues with the SLI causing a blue flickering effect that may or may not be from the cable itself . Ill know monday (should have known friday but the package got misplaced by fed lol) .

The Q9200 i bought for it would not budge beyond 2.4ghz stock even though there were unlocked multipliers etc . Bluescreen on everything above stock..

Going to see if the SLI cable sorts it out then get a new CPU .

man, that's not cool at all!! so the bios isn't really coded for the 9200 then? and did you try your cards in single gpu mode? (if you posted the answers already...sorry for not reading it. my apologies) i was all set to see you pushing some new numbers. waiting to see what ichime does as well. you guys are some old heads so this should all get to be very interesting to say the least.

Well when the problem started i remembered a thread created by a member called blue flickering . So i used Search /cough and read through and saw that i was having the same exact symptoms . I did not yank out both cards one at a time based on the fact he had both cards replaced and the problem still remained after and it all boiled down to the SLI cable being bad.

He also tried one card at a time and never saw the issue just running in single card mode so again i saw no need to bother with trying what had already been tried .

If this does not fix it im going to request a replacement or return and reorder depending how im feeling if it doesnt work .

The machine though is such a beauty words cant describe how much im enjoying it (when its working proper that is) so in many ways i would rather get a replacement system that way i wont be without it till they give me a new one. If i return and reorder i can save a few hundred bucks and get a couple upgrades like maybe a Single 256gb SSD etc.

So i have somethings to think over for the moment :)>

Yeah im thinking the same thing just need to decide if i want to wait again :( .

Other then that though i pulled 11,400 with this crappy CPU under Vantage so i know theres some potential to be had here :) .

30fps on crysis Very high with the same CPU .

3meg cache CPU is junk even though its a nice overclocker.

i hear ya there. once you get the cpu right, then the rest will fall inline...

but you will need to have that ram inline as well..because yes...it makes a difference in your scoring. a higher memory over clock gives you a higher new calico, while a higher core gives you a higher jane nash. to much memory gives you artifacting...if your ram timings are to tight, test will not complete... a few other things in there, but ummm....guess we wait till you get your rig back.. :)

    ps:
trying to break the 46k barrier with physx...im at 45,666 right now.
