M17x Benchmarks thread !!!

hey Guys - heres my score, but its saying I have a GTX 170m - is this right? im using a trial version for now... scores sound a bit low, dont they???

VANTAGE SCORES ( I HAVE A SINGLE nvidia 260m)
CPU Score 5661
Graphics Score 4591

EDIT: maybe its correnct, im used to the high scores of mark06, but it says its a 170m im using on vantage website results page???

 

Your gpu score looks a little low but that could just be the driver you are using. The 170m Vantage is reading is normal.

 

Yeah im using stock drivers the M17x came with (179.85)... for right now... Ill post my new vantage scores with other drivers in this post/box here.........

Graphics seems right for a single 260m i think But yeah, they haven't updated there database or what not with the present name.

 

you should get a 400 point increase with a driver update. i get 4480 at stock settings on the gou. the highest i got was 5525 on the gpu overclock.

06 is useless whether it's ATI or Nvidia, it's more cpu dependent and is not coded properly to take advantage of quads. Vantage is what counts now, 06 as has been said needs to die.

 

Aside from that RIDICULOUS GPU score that e-wrecked got (I still want to find out how!) I have a pretty good GPU score for the 3870x2. I know it aint no nvidia G92 score....but hey, I am running on an older architecture (edit: its 20 days younger - my bad)

Given the OC I got on the graphics cards, I don't think they can just be shot down that easily, definitely not without some actual proof?

I am not claiming any records, hell, my qx9300 wont even go past 3014 MHz. Just saying that the whitebook/M17 is quite capable of holding its own in the graphics world of notebooks

 

lol the G92 architecture is older then the 3870's

 

Well technically, the rv670 core is 20 days younger than the G92, but that is nitpicking, lets call them the same age? haha

 

Here's my highest GPU score, and that's with the P9600. I haven't benched it enough with the QX9300, but I barely broke 6100. This is with 185.20, best vantage driver that I know of.

 

Puuuush! Lol Geek how are you doing the OC on your gpu? You had said to me you should do a 1:2.5 ration on core clock:Shader... That has worked wonderfully especially on the Dell beta drivers, but how do you. Determine the virtual memory clock? Thanks just curious since your suggestion has worked well for me so far and the memory is pretty touchy if not done right

 

Yeah normally you should have a 1:2.5 ratio. My core flops after 650-660, so I was trying to coax whatever I could for the highest score, hence the higher shader. My memory is done after 1025-30. MXM 3.0 seems better for overclocking, there's something different with the voltage. I had to flash an overvolt, but you guys can OC as high or higher without doing so it seems.

 

Cool thanks man, although I don't think I'm going to be over volting anytime soon... that's a little out of my ability range, and that's when you start getting in the danger zone for permanent damage IMO

Well alot of times its just temporary to see what your machine is capable of. So flash it , run a bunch of tests for a day then flash it back . I know i will at some point but im far from there yet and in no big hurry either .

 

Hmmm maybe I'll just stick with my current settings right now... I just put up the first benchmark on BIGS benchmark page... nothing special right at 11k for the fun of it! only GPU OC

Hahah if you had a script to retrieve them... anyway I did one with an OC CPU and I was being bottlenecked by my CPU speed... I got 11,300 by upping my cpu to 2.8ghz... the only problem is my CPU doesn't overclock well I have only made it up to 2.9

 

Man, as soon as I sell this whitebook I will get my m17x and join the benching club haha, already got my qx9300 sitting on shelf just waiting

no matter how many people say it needs to die..it wont. those are the facts.
you bench it, grab your scores and move on to the next set of test.

best benchmarking setup is to bench windows 7 beta 7229 32/64 bit with 186.18 for the driver. you guys should see some improvements

 

im not 100% hardcore right now

i just reformatted and im on my SSD now and i got my HD's setup just right


I will get the #1 vantage record and i'll bow out for a little while

well butters...for that to happen...you will have to become hard core for a few days or weeks to gain the high numbers.... it wont be fair if you come in and take the hard work mandrake worked up on and use it to beat him then boast that your the king....lol...your going to have to get your hands dirty my friend. and that means over volting as quad suggested..

Yeah and many many hours of watching TV or working on something else as those benches are running wild on your machine . Benching is a very long and arduous process i guess would be the best way to describe it and not for everyone thats for sure.

Once i get my machine the way i want it ill be at it pretty hardcore .

my shift key broke

 

5k vantage NO overclock and CPU @ 3 ghz

bump my OC up and my CPU up n it should be past 5740 NP

 

I'm at 1400 though... and my CPU is at 2.8 cards still have a little room to push... If I can make 11.7 or 11.8 I'll be pretty happy.. and believe me I was watching Discovery Deadliest catch waiting for the bench to finish... been at it for a while (I'm learning alot) if you guys haven't noticed I haven't been trolling lately

 

you won't make 12k

your CPU can overclock high enough

GPU score will only go up the higher you overclock your cPU

which is why Kecissem couldn't hit 12k while mandrake could

 

Like I said I know I won't reach 12k... I'll be happy if I get around 11.5-11.8k though which I think is doable

 

If you want me to throw up some single card scores let me know. I believe I hit 6300 when I tried it. It should be somewhere in this thread.

Which drivers are you using?

 

Dell Beta 186.12 I switched back because I thought it was better for gaming than the 190.38... and I think it's more stable

 

FYI, I don't think anyone else has hit 11.8K in Vantage yet. Something to shoot for.

lol. I was running 3dmark06 at nearly 3.6Ghz. My highest I believe is 16620. I need to put this stuff back in my sig cause I can't even remember it.

 

How many will go back through this thread and try to capture everything I did? lol!

 

Hmmm vantage works fine and my GPU's don't even hit 74c even heavily OC'd... but I was just running 06 and it froze, didn't say it had to do with the display drivers though... hmmmm

 

Which test was it running when it froze?
