kqmaverick got the latest drivers installed on Win7. Install should work the same way for Vista.

and sleey0 figured out how to install the drivers for coprocessor. (process described by kqmaverick)

AWWW Phinagle you ruined my happyness
i will link up the Coprocessor in my sig to
Dang i had to Tinyurl all my links so it took awhile... i ran outta room -
Only if my daughter didn't decide to put nail polish on Crysis DVD and then decide to get it out with a fork.
By the way tha last two pics are not showing up for me. -
If I was a patient man, I would DEFINITELY without a doubt wait for the ATI cards to arrive.
Seriously, I am considering sending this back because CF 4870's might be close in price to my SLI 260's. -
Finally this gets interesting lol. First and foremost, you can only expect 10% more than John's best scores, TOPS. John has done all he can to get the most out of his machine, and I've done as much as I care to as well. I wouldn't expect many others to beat his vantage scores with even decent overclocking, it takes some balls, a lot of patience, and experience. It took me a while to break 6100 GPU on vantage, and the machine is at its limits.
I use Nvidia system tools to OC, GPU-Z and HWmonitor to check temps and clocks, and I flashed oile's custom vbios for voltage at 1.05. Without a voltage increase, 600/1500/950 is the limit.
If you have good cores, you can get 650/1625/1000 in games. I have a lesser core, so I'm limited to about 630 on the core and 650-660 for 3dmark. there's another guy in the sager forum who's gotten 3dmark runs with his at 690/700. I've gotten memory at 1030. Shader can go to 1650-1700+. This card can overclock decently higher than the 9800M GTX and it has 16 more shaders, so the capability is there. The drivers are mature, there are a lot of good ones. Try Dox's 182.46, Dox 185.85, 185.20 (vantage), and the latest version, 186.xx
Anyway, good luck, but don't expect a record shatterer, just a silent victory. It's taken a year just to have an opportunity for a 10% advance. The next big jump will be GT300. -
Sleey0, from my experience that kind of change is not going to happen. I didn't see any gaming computer out there, moved from Nvidia to ATI by just swapping cards etc. Also besides upgrading x1400 to 7800gs, Dell never offered an upgrade like that either. They may come up with 295 GTX i na year

alitunay
can you do a dx10 run if you have time...thanks. -

thanks ali!
thought i seen that.
so as mentioned before..no aa they seem to be beating the 4870's at dmc4
and his are still stock. when over clocked...you pick up like 30 to 50 fps in the 1st and 3rd catagories and like 5 to 15 in the 2nd and 4th... -
Well, since I have seen my M17x user manual, I believe 100% that the ATI cards are coming.
And I also believe that the 4870's will have GDDR5 because it would be pointless to release it without it (for this particular machine).
Your right, there is nothing wrong with my 260's. I would prefer 4870's, that's all.
Oh, and the mobile 4870's are actual based on the desktop core unlike the 260's, which are just updated G92's..... -
-
i ran ssd raid..i was like...WOW! 550mb read and 350+ write...nice indeed!
Oh, and the mobile 4870's are actual based on the desktop core unlike the 260's, which are just updated G92's.....<---very very old news. been mentioned about 2000 times already... -

It's not all the same so I had to repeat that sentence the 2001 time -
it really sad
so we are probably gonna have to say it 3000 times (my best guess) -
That is why I am slapping my return label on my machine as I type this
For those waiting for there machines - don't freak out! I just think I am going to be patient on this one and hope for the best
I'll be on vaca for a month (till beg of August) so I am going to unplug and unwind.
When I gt back then I'll make a decision!
The M17x is an awesome machine, just think that patience really is going to pay off. -
There still new cards though, give em time ;')
-
hey .... i only got 1 260 for that reason and i couldn't afford SLI 260....
i would of never got 280 because they would just be slower then the ATI cards -
They are going to charge and arm and a nut for those cards purchased later on. -
why im saving now
i need a laptop now -
yes guys...tis is true...and thanks for the laugh...3000 might be on the light side of things though.....
-
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
Arm and a Nut!!!! Ahhhhhhhh funny guy

Anyone have a faster link for 185.20 drivers? I'm getting 20 KB/sec from laptopvideo2go.
-
32 or 64 bit?
try these..

-
let me check some other place for ya
-
Those beta drivers loaded but made the screen look completely washed out. I have a feeling it probably won't work.
-
describe washed out?
-
If I were to go into the nvidia control panel and turn the brightness all the way up to 100%. Would look exactly like that.
-
yeah, not good.
does it show 3 gpu's in the control panel? -
Yes but it showed 180M instead of 280M just like the 186.18 driver.
-
All we can do is hope that we get GDDR5 4870's in Crossfire.I'm afraid AW might do something stupid like only being able to get a single 4870 GDDR5 with no crossfire option. All we can do is pray.
-
User Manual specifies Crossfire options.
-
ill be glad when you guys get your gddr5 memory, personally.
other news..
showing as 180 is fine as long as it detects the true clocks. -
And you can't throw quality out the window, else how are we supposed to gauge performance under stress? We might as well test @ 800x600 with everything low using your argument, as the game would perform its best.
And you are right about 16xQ being the highest AA setting in most games and it is often unplayable. That's why I suggested testing AA when it is playable, and MSAA seeing as virtually every game developer uses it as their in-game method of AA. That's also why most PC games/hardware magazines include 4x or 8xMSAA when testing performance on high end cards. -
just saying. you use them all as a whole to gage the whole cards performance, whether it be full quality or compromise....
ps: vsync is an enhancement. it keeps your screen from tearing
ps: we do test 800x600...it's around here somewhere..but i think it doesn't even run on both cards..just uses one. -
-
you got me...what's coil noise??
-
That screeching noise you hear every once in a while from your GPU.
-
i thought that was the cpu making that noise?? my gateway use to make that noise.
-
From what I read any electronic board can do it. I happen to only hear it when the GPU is stressed and vsync was one solution.
-
ahh...learn something new every day...thanks for that info.
i haven't heard it in a long time.
ok, so even though the colors looked washed out for the moment...will it let you run a game or a benchmark? -
-
There's nothing to work out. Try dox 182.46 driver for one, it's the best crysis driver I've found. Compare DX10 very high patched crysis to my score (overclocked) 18.68 1680x1050 (with 185.85).

No new bench scores today?
I was about to run my Vantage High scores but first need somebody else with SLI 280's to run it for comparison.
Also trying to get a copy of X3 since you guys want to see that benchmark. -
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
Yea there isn't comparison's right now lol, all the scores that have been coming out have been abnormally low, some driver issues or something... I have yet to see an M17x break 16K
M17x Benchmarks thread !!!
