I've seen some people complaining that they cannot run Crysis benchmark at certain resolutions, maybe depending on their monitor native resolution.

If that is the case, just edit the gpu .bat files
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis\Bin[32|64]\Benchmark_GPU.bat
so that the corresponding command line includes the following switches:
    - sys_spec_Full: 3 for High and 4 for Very High, etc
    - r_width and r_height: for the benchmark resolution

    Example:
    @crysis.exe -DEVMODE +map island +exec benchmark_gpu +sys_spec_Full 4 +r_width 1680 +r_height 1050

in order to run at Very High on 1680x1050 resolution

I'm using a different video driver than everyone else. LINK

11.7K in Vantage even with the 9400M enabled and no stuttering at high clock speeds. Highly recommended!

haha Moo......it would be pretty funny if I found a way to mount my TRUE to the bottom of my M17x. Then we can see some REAL cooling. Of course I would be adding even another 2 pounds to the laptop....

    i don't remember if it's portable?

Laptop liquid cooling (if is is portable) would be a joke. As first off, you would still need a fan, and second off the size of the radiator would be so small I am guessing you would probably be worse off that heatpipe/fins.

The advantage to liquid cooling on a desktop is when you can have a massive surface area due to a large radiator. The rad can't be large in a laptop though.....so air would perform just as well

Just looked at that link...that is pretty sick haha.....if he used smaller tubing and had some purpose designed parts.....this could work

Although the rad is still going to be the limiting factor as I mentioned before, he still had to use a big one.

Of course...if you accidentally drop a water cooled laptop....things can get messy - But the temps he showed were sick (although only 3 cores?!)

Just wanted to know what the highest someone has clocked QX9300?

I managed to get mine to 3.2ghz just by changing the multiplier to x12.
Ran both Vantage (score 10352) and 3dMark 06 (16199) without overclocking the GPU and without getting BSOD.

All settings for Vantage and 3dMark were default

    System config:
    QX9300 oem [email protected]
    4gig 1066
    280m Sli
    2x 320gig (no raid)

Run OCCT to see if it is actually stable though. Finishing a benchmark run don't mean stable

The CPU is oem from dell - upgraded option

    @scook9
The CPU wasn't stable at 3.2ghz. BSOD after 10mins into OCCT and reaching 75 degrees celcius for both GPU and CPU

That is what I thought...no one else was able to get that high on multiplier only... try tweaking fsb to boost it from a lower multiplier.

Wow, that is impressive mandrake.. makes me want to get my oem from HP so much quicker...

I hope i will have some of the same luck on over clocking.. I will be happy though if I can atleast hit the 3ghz range...

btw mandrake can you do processor swaps in you sleep??? It seems like you have done quite a few on the M17x for testing already.

Yes it is, the new qx9300 I just got from HP.

I started raising the fsb which I ended up maxing out then pushed it further with NST. Then I upp'ed the multiplier by .5 and started pushing the fsb again. Kept testing in that manner.

From looking at your scores i would say 18,000 myself.

My CPU score at 3.2ghz on the m17 is 4888 and yours was 4483 so i would run it a few more times back to back .

It does not score that everytime though so you can certainly score more. Mine will also shutter on occasion affecting the overall score.

Mine is by Multiplier only so not sure how much that would effect the CPU score vs a combination of FSB and multi . I dont know enough about that stuff to really comment though.

That was also under windows 7 when i was toying around with it so you may want to try there as well :)

I never messed with the mem settings really other than trying to lower the freq. but when i hit my high in 06 i was able to oc the fsb to around 1290 & default 9.5 multi, but was not able to push any further with either fsb or multi. but then even these settings that ran stable for a couple weeks no matter the tests i put on it is now unstable for whatever reason so i have to back down to around 2.93

It doesn't really bother me though as real world use is not effected as much as benches are with just a bit higher clocks. If it wasnt for the fact i'm more intrested now in just playing the games like "The All Powerful" was meant to i'd be frustrated with it.

If you decide to get back into it the fsb:mem divider is very important to address. If you did not change your memory setting it could have held you back.
