guys after searching for four days now and after 7 formats i found what was causing my sli configuration not to work. no it wasnt what i thought it was. it was just a software called tuneup utilities if you now. i used it to change my boot screen and stuff. after numerous efforts installing and uninstalling every software and trying benchmark06 i found the f.cking cause.

if someone wants to try, just for confirmation, just install tuneup utilities run benchmark06 and then uninstall it and try again. and only with the two gtx280s working in sli. somehow it didnt cause any problem when it was in hybrid sli. i would be pleased if someone could try that.

Mandrake can you spend a few minutes for this please? thanks

Well that's good to hear. What settings are people running with their 260's ?

    Stock levels are:

    550 Core Clock
    950 Mem Clock
    1350 Shader

Downloading 3dm06 to try it out. Right now.

Drake, You think I should just ramp up to those levels? Or did 'Moo' do some other tricks to get that high?

Well I finally retried all those combos for 3.2 with confirmation that 9400m was off. All failed. Will have new ram in machine next week, but I am not hopeful. Looks like I will lie somewhere in the 3.15-3.19 region (but not 3.2)

Not the end of the world, but a slight bummer

Hey guys I finally got my M17x up to speed with windows 7... however I was running the dell beta drivers 186.12 before and started having problems... what other drivers would you recommend for gaming? I know of the Dox 186.24 and then the 190.38 drivers... however I didn't like the dox due to the impact on graphics

I doubt he used a modded bios, the 260's over clock like champs without any aid, I had mine at 690/1725/1065 for benchmarking, but I keep them at 600/1500/1000 24/7.

this dont seem to cause any problem. if you want try what i said otherwise thanks for your help. changing the bootscreen or something else seems to be the cause as it changes windows default startup files .

EDIT: i also have windows vista ultimate sp2 with oem alienware activation. and i think no one else has installed this one. and benchmark differences may be due to this too.

Well, I got my qx9300 in today.. no big issues.. went lots easier than I anticipated which is good.. So far multi only stable up to 10.5 with stock fsb/mem in bios... trying mulple combos right now with clock and fsb... highest OC so far is 2.897 - 2.9...

Every time i try to do a 1:2 ratio i get BS when vista boots(1-2 min)

I got lots of testing to do to try and find best combo.. at 9.5 multi seems like a 1220 - 1225 fsb is the highest i can go before bs
If i touch mem settings in bios I get guaranteed BSOD.

Wondering if Ram is holding me back.. I know i couldn't get as high of an OC on this system compared to my first one...

Sorry... I wanted to get some done before the upgrade but life *cough* my wife *cough* threw a curve ball at me... My higher priority was to install the proc

By the way ran my FSB and Memory at 1066 for that run and had my multiplier at 12.

Well got the 1333 ram in and redid all those OC's again....(several combinations of multi and FSB to achieve 3.2 for those wondering) all still unstable :(

I will play around with maximum OC if I can find the time, but so far 3.15 it is for me

Will now play around with my GPU's some ;)
