    well I have my clocks at 680/1065/1700 and CPU at 3150 (10x 1260)

    and running Vantage, I am seeing what can only be described as stuttering :( (a very noticeable drop in FPS down to single digits that passes)

    Anyone else had this?

    Maybe just a bad run. your not on the whitebook now. :)

    just retry it and turn down your shader alittle do 1675 or 1650.

    no hardware mods, just use the voltage editor in nibtor.
    it didn't work on the 9800m's because i up the voltage to 1.09 and no temp change at all.

    but the problem comes in ordering the voltage...if you don't order it correctly it wont save
    and you have to change the 1.03 to 1.05 or you can add another voltage to manipulate when your flashing the vbios. instead of 1.00 to 1.03...it would be 1.03 to 1.05

    Scook that is something I saw also ONLY with the quad with high GPU clocks. I never had that issue with the x9100.

    gpu down clocking instead of giving you the famous...display quit responding error...not sure which one is worse though...they both suck...lol

    I am not sure it was downclocking of the GPU's, but definitely a drop in performance, although temporary. It always came back to regular fps.

    How did you get around this Mandrake? I have had this in all of my runs since the GPU OC

    Gaming= Dell drivers
    3Dmark06= BatBoy's drivers
    Vantage= Dox 182.46

    Yes I switch around a lot.

    Lower clocks, both CPU and GPU. One reason why my best GPU score with Vantage so far is 11910. I've only seen this with Vantage because that is the only place I run my GPU clocks that high.

    Really odd - I found with 186.24 3DMark06 was roughly 200pts lower vs 179.85. Oh well - its just a number... (NOT!)

    i can later...trying to test out this new replacement motherboard and video card evga sent me...

    nah, vantage stutters at stock speeds, it's just the way it is. i even tried slowing them down or just barely over clcok it and it still did it.

    i did the same thing with dual gtx295's and it still stutters. when the jetski is pulling in to make the left turn into the smaller tunnel for example.

    any good solution to stopping this stutter that seems to happen on the M17x? It is raping my GPU score :( keeping me from near 12k action!

    I am at 670/1675/1060 and still getting it :( (but the driver never crashes anymore and no artifacts - higher than this crashed the driver)

    vantage stutters. nothing you can do about it. i have some of the best cards on the market and the test still stutters. you just need to find the right setting to drop is all and that will put you over.

    The main reason I am concerned is I have not seen this behavior at all before I OC'd these cards on this laptop

    Just got out a run with minimal stutter (only one quick instance) but the cpu tests ran slower than they could have. So all in all it wasn't my best run, but was better than the majority so far for me

    I still want to push these harder! Goal is P12000 (so 12000 on each gpu and cpu ;) )

    ya ya ya, you know what I meant haha, 12k and 12k for overall P12k

    Since I am more concerned with vantage than 06 on this laptop, to make it look better of course, I think I will try the DoX Drivers - got BatBoys 186.24's now

    Any one got a quick link to it so I aint got to search? lol

    You know where I stand, my benches are in this thread and you've seen them, obviously they're not that great being that I'm using a dual core CPU with only 3mb cache and dual 260's as opposed to a quad core with 12mb cache and dual 280's, but then again I'm not in a competition.

    And on another note, my scores really have nothing to do with a joke I made about him not being able to keep up with mandrake because of his lack of an unlocked bios...

    Relax kid, it was a joke, learn how to take them.

    we dont even know if it is the bios yet, drake and i will be looking into it

    As for buying a Clevo over Alienware, i dont regret it for a second i would willingly trade 0.7% performance for a system which has same specs is over $1200 cheaper, has decent support, was able to be picked up from MD of company in person. Has a lower failure rate and I never have to deal with that joke of customer service again.

    If you have chosen to get a low end line up then by all means be happy and leave us to play with our toys

    I can try 179.85 drivers in 06 when I get home on Friday.

    Drivers will make a big difference. With the DOX 182.46 drivers you will see anything that represents cloth have the shakes with high GPU clocks. That happened with both my procs.

    You would have had more of a choice if you lived in the US. I think you would find direct Dell support superior over the AW support.

    Are your GPUs overclocked? I can't even break 10k (GPU score) with my dual 280Ms and QX9300. I'm using BatBoy's 186.24. Even with 179.xx, I could not get over 10k. Attached is my best run w/o CPU overclocking:

    go in the bios and raise you fsb up some more from stock. try to get it to at least 2.93. are you can set your multiplier to 10x and raise it from there.

    disable your 9400m also in the bios.

    go to nvidia control panel and set it to high performance.

    according to everyone batboy's was a good driver. but I haven't tried it. the best drivers that I used were 190.15, 186.03, 185.85.

    with vantage raising the cpu speed would only give you a max of a 100 points. this was tested out by john and his qx9650 and 9800m gtx sli. but this should get you over 10000. if you donlt want to overclock.

    or you can push the memory to 1000 instead of 950.

    Ok, I will try that.

    The results I posted - do they look 'normal' to you? QX9300 2.53GHz, GTX 280M SLI, 186.24 driver.

    I was able to push my QX9300 to 11x/2.93GHz without issues, which got me a CPU score of 11786.

    I have 1333 RAM BTW (8GB worth).

    I agree, had i lived in the USA i would have been a much harder call between the M17x and the M980Nu but Alienware/Dell (whom ever made the decision) priced themselves out of the market totally.

    Things like difficult CS etc you can overlook if the prices are competitive, if the new AW that replaces the M17x is well priced then I would consider it ofc i would, but until they get thier head screwed on Clevo will be laughing all the way to the bank as they will get all the sales

    Machine on Machine they are almost identical, bar screen size, extra HDD and one has stealth card (9400)

    its just simple economics

    so I loaded the DOX drivers, and now my OC is unstable on the GPUs where it was fine with batboys.....had to drop 20 MHz on core already, and need to try another 10 :(

    Wont this dropping of the frequencies offset any gain I can expect from the driver change....? I am tempted to go back ot BatBoy's 186.24's
