Well, I got my E8435 back after RMAing my Asus W90 and ran some tests (testing some custom drivers I'm working on). Haven't been on much, because in the meantime, I was working on my HTPC. Nonetheless, I posted my H score on orb, and my P score didn't change much so I left it as is. But when I ran on Extreme mode (I had to lower it to 1920x1080, so it's not official), I'm getting higher scores than my H score on the W90. Any of you guys experiencing this with the M17x/NVidia cards?

So I had the SLI status thing running during the magical run haha

Does the amount that is filled vertically represent the GPU utilization? Because if it does, Vantage could use it better ;) (still MUCH better than 06 was though)

haha moo, I gotta use my time wisely, as college is siphoning it all away :(

Look to the clevo users with a single GTX280m as your competition maybe?

As a side note, which SLI mode is best for 3DMark06 and Vantage?

well look at scook9. just a movin' on up...ain't cha!

    nice work!

nice H score, but that's not official either. wow , them 4870's are making a move these days. so what did you get when you ran the whole test.? (test 1 through 4)

4870's look to be still in the game mandrake...but wont know for sure till a whole run is completed.

also, has anyone seen or ran any current test on the 9800m gtx lately? curious as to if they gained any small improvements with newer drivers..

Ok, I know there are threads for this one but wanted to know if anyone else has had this problem recently. I am finishing up my review of my M17x and am almost finished except for one thing, I need one last run of benches. 3d Mark and Vantage are both responding with the blasted COM Surrogate error and I can't get it to go away. I have gone to through the posts here, Microsoft forums, and others (even the thinkgeek post) and none of the suggested fixes have yielded positive results.

Just looking for any suggestions from anyone else that has encountered this error recently. Any suggestions would be appreciated and sorry for getting off topic.

hmm those v mods that your using scook they exclusive to the 17x? can you still do a windows flash on those cards or is it a usb thumbstick jobbie?

Might consider upping the V's on mine for abit higher score

Great job! You couldn't get 1 more point higher? lol!

Did you use the Dox 182.46 drivers?

Lower your CPU OC. It's probably too high and crashing parts of Windows.

    Yes you do...slacker. ;)

Your GPU score is waaaaaay too low. Single cards score higher. You need to troubleshoot that.

If your still have issues with everything at stock then you might want to reinstall Windows.

You gpu score is good if you are stock.

Turn physx off and overclock your cpu and run some stuff.

What's the deal with turning PhysX off btw?

I've got it on along with SLI at the moment but wondering if it would be better off?

If you want to do more of a comparison of scores you'll need to turn PhysX off. Scook and I keep it off because we are submitting our scores.

physx artifically overinflates the CPU scores (as I am sure you can see) because it is giving the CPU credit for the PhysX load that your GPUs are doing. If you want to compare, turn off physx.

That was fast. Did you check your memory timings? Are they reading correctly? The over-volting hasn't proved better performance so far. It will only cause extra heat.

Ok I should have asked the question another way :)

Should I leave it on in general except for benchmarks or is it pointless if the games isn't using PhysX?

Gaming with it is fine even if the game doesn't support it. When benchmarking turn it off to make better comparisons with other systems.

This should offer twice the bandwidth compared to a single stick as you can utilize the dual channel ability of the chipset
