    yes...seems scook9 hit a higher gpu/cpu/over all score..with a lower clocked cpu to boot.

Umm... You're kidding me, this has to be wrong, right?

I maxed everything out in settings... That's NUTS! My desktop 8800GTS couldn't do that at 1280x1024 with a MUCH faster CPU speed (3GHz)!

    I'm in love. Hahaha.

My temps are pretty high though for stock clocks... First GPU hit 79C, second hit 84C, 9400 hit 74C. I don't think I will play with overclocking this chip too much. Not that I need to.

No pics yet, drake. Been working like a dog :(

I am using 186.82 w/ NST installed. Tried 600/1200/1500 with no success.

Guess I'll back down on the memory and try again....

1200 on the memory?!!? 1100 is max. Try 630|1025|1575

    The red is fantastic.

I couldn't have asked for a better shade. It is also pretty metallic so it isn't Dull like in some of the pics seen online.

And I had the memory @ 1125. Don't know why I said 1200 or whatever.

Yeah i was running like 680/1060/1680 or there abouts for my test runs. I tried last night again but the results with that dual core were in the low 11ks.

ya my scores went between 12k and 11k depending on the run

Once you find the right settings, just crank out the runs to get a high one

I was playing Crysis Warhead on the desktop and just looping runs, I looked up saw my current high score and nearly shat myself. Was not expecting it to be so high haha but was pleasantly surprised

What are some good settings to ramp the 260s up to? I'm curious for testing purposes. I can already tell this laptop is more than I expected it to be.

I don't feel like having to figure out how to open it up yet so I am not going to try overclocking the processor.

you guys are taking this over clocking thing like it's you drinking coffee or something...it's not even like that.

over clocking YOUR system takes quite a bit of time to get the hang of. and it's not going to happen over night for most.

these other guys have been playing with timings/clocks/os/drivers/cooling/temps/etc to get where they are. and the new guys & gals just can't jump out there doing the exact same thing. YOU need to take your time. spending like a week or so just testing. getting an idea what happens when you do certain things.

benchmarking is it's own beast of sorts. and for each case...the setting may be quite different.

just because you see people in here with high over clocks, doesn't mean yours will over clock that high either. and sometimes it takes a while to get it up to speed if it is a high over clocker. every idea is a baseline to help you in the right direction....but if you dont take ones time to start trying all the things you feel are unimportant to try...then your over clock may take a quite a bit longer to master....

    I agree John

Vanatage and 3dmrks handle different overclocks different and while one may like it the other may hate it ... Nature of the beast

there is no way in hell i can run the same clocks. i have to back them down allot for 3dmark06. i had to back them down a bit when benching the 9262. not much but some else the test wouldn't complete.

It doesn't look like I'll be able to overclock. OCCT after just 15 minutes had one 260 at 101 and the other at 86. I saw the temp hit 102 and escaped out of it. Looks like one of my GPUs is crap. Unless its driver-related. I'm running 186.81 hybrid SLi.

And yes, I know about how people have varying results, etc., with overclocking. I'm not new to the overclocking game, just new to it on laptops.

probably not really the case...just a bit of user error is all...
test each gpu separately. meaning...over clock one then the other. see if it still gets that hot. and i would check what you have the laptop sitting on..maybe get some better air flow going. lift the back about 1/2 inch off the surface it is currently on.

not saying it like that sleey0

it's just that each computer is different. no matter how many times you over clocked before.
i have over clocked 5 different types of laptops and one desktop and it's ever changing my friend....

noob post? it goes for anyone not understanding the way of things
And I had the memory @ 1125. Don't know why I said 1200 or whatever. <--- not to mention this here, buddy..lmao!
just messing with ya sleey0but in the end, we all tend to over look things, me included and there is nothing wrong with a little help in the right direction to get ones over clock in order....

I was posting everything fast when I made the typo. Not sure why that is relevant here.

I know that every system is different (actually every piece of hardware will vary) when oc'ing.

I don't sit around for a week and test like you said. Sorry - don't have the patience or the time for that. lol

I'll spend a couple of days max and get my system the way I like it :)

not getting on you, but you said you we're an over clocker, but the questions you asked starting from post 3885 (just me scanning back 2 pages) don't jive with full time over clockers. gamers are different from over clockers and benchmarkers. so if your gamer that's cool too. over clocking a computer and being an over clocker are two different things as well.

me, im an over clocker / benchmarker. and i spend a great deal of time doing it. along with fixing machines. just so others can have a better experience with their machines. i can do it everyday because this is what i do for a living.

Last post on this, I promise :)

First, I never said I was some sort of professional overclocker (I guess you are?). Just said I have oc'd before. Go look at my post, thanks.

Second, I don't use my family as a crutch. You simply stated that it takes a week or more to constantly tweek and test. I just stated that I not only have a life, but not enough patience. There's no excuses or "crutches" there. Just facts.

Lastly, please stop twisting my posts to make your arguments :) It makes me keep posting about this and I don't want to (it's off topic and getting tiring, IMO).

On topic, I'll say that my memory is running fine @ 1060. Been testing and playing some games - smooth as silk.

Like scook said, start out with a base oc from posts here and tweak.

Ethrem, yes. Try running A02 and it should/might oc your quad better....

A02 made a HUGE temperature difference...

I even clocked the GPUs to 600, 1000, 1500 rather than just the stock 280 clocks.

    Check out the difference...

    New:

    Old:

New BIOS didn't help with overclocking much. I got Vista BSOD at 1320, got sound and no video at 1310. Stable at 1300.

I wonder how much further I can push the video clocks... 650/1050/1600 maybe?

680/1050/1700 - P12624 (since I'm sure that people don't want to keep seeing me post up images)

It did, however, start to flash a bit when it got to the second CPU test. Pretty much every other frame half the image was flashing. I'm thinking that I should drop the mem down by 25.

I'm going to see if I can make it through a run of '06. If it crashes, I will know whether its the core, the memory (most likely), or the shaders (least likely IME)

I'm too lazy to resize them lol. Besides, TinyPic resizes them anyway.

So I was right. The 260s don't like being above 1000 on the memory... 3DMark 06 froze when it was initializing the second 260 (two screen flickers and the computer froze). I rebooted and ran 680/1000/1700 and got 12953.

    http://service.futuremark.com/home.action;jsessionid=76A9C089853EFD241E36EA4ABB45A4C7

I think the shader clock still has some room but I don't know how much more I want to push the core.

wow! man that sucks!! lets ope things go better this time. a friend of mine is going through what your going through now. and his back is now messed up as wello...he's not doing good at all.

yeah, those aren't resized...you would save them at something like 1024x768 or 1280x1024 (which might be to big still)

run linked and see how high you can go with your memory at 950 once you find the max..then start raising the memory.

I think I'm going to stop at 680/1000/1750. At least for the night. These cards have performed well beyond what I expected them to. I figured they'd hit 280m speeds but I didn't figure almost an extra 100 on core, 50 on mem, and about 250 on shaders over the 280. I'm way more than satisfied. For now.
