You better watch it, bub. You're just lucky you're KGB. -
That has to be the funniest drawing ever... I swear... Got a spare one of those to give me? XD!
-
What's KGB? And I only meant that I was replying very fast, you tend to do that sometimes. Didn't mean anything bad by it

LOL!!!!!!!
True I know you XD
I like those revised goals... the first isn't so bad either though
-
Moo, you seriously have your laptop sitting on an actual A/C? LMAO
I guess that would keep things pretty darn cool haha -
i wana know why u have ur m17x upside down with the screen on the ac... hows that guna make it cool? lol
-
I wanna kno why you are blind
-
ouch, i was only making a joke
-
i don't get it...how is that so funny? he holds all the 260m records..you guys be killing me.
see my avitar...that's a water chiller right there. capable of dropping the water temp to 0'c without it...i couldn't hold records. -
O lol what I said was a semi joke
-
no the drawing has the thickest part as the monitor, but the thickest part in reality is the base. was just stating what i thought was funny.
-
Man has to do what a man has to do
-
now back to what i originally came on for, could somebody suggest to me some good 260m drivers and where to get em plz and thank you.
-
good for benching and gaming, either as a single driver or one for ech
-
John I'm waiting fir that 190 inf
also my high in vantage is still 6300 on my gpu without any tweaks to os or vantage -
got it, but im not sure it will install.
it wont install fully on my fx 570m...but see what happens if you try...

I've got a QX9200 working in my M17x, but only runs stable via multiplier OC'ing at 2.66, which I'm still happy with, I could probably bench at 2.8, but at 2.8 I get random BSOD's.
My 3dmark scores seem a little low to me, a quad with 12mb L2 running at 2.66ghz and both my 260M's at 600/1500/1000 and only 35 processes in Vista running before I start up 3dM06 it's scoring around 14160 points, seem a bit low doesn't it? I know 3dmark 06 is not even important at this point, but I'm still wondering about it. I'm about to run Vanatage and see what I can get there, input appreciated. -
just ran vantage got p7383, gpu 8543 cpu 5245. how does that compare with others?
-
i downloaded 190.56 and it said 64 bit and sadly it failed to actually be 64 bit
so with that im done
don't feel like tweaking much anymore
I pushed the cards and proved they Overvolted ... good enough for me -
well dammn!...i did a 32 bit version, that's why
lol -
if you do a 64 bit ill try again
-
ill try it tomorrow...about to lay down for a while. im beat.

After re-installing windows due to a stubborn COM Surrogate error, I am now up and running again and have come to two realizations.
1. I need to shell out the cash for a notebook cooler if I plan to keep pushing for higher benches.
2. I need air conditioning. Apartment hit 93 four times this week.
Wanted to run a few tests before heading to bed. Oh, anyone have a program they might suggest for altering the gpu fan initiation times?Attached Files:

ACTUALLY YOU JUST NEED the second one
-
i have to add moo i think your mad mate, i want high benchies as much as the next person but flashing bio's scares the rubbish out of me at the best of times on normal bios i have never flashed a gpu before and just thinking about flashing my 280's makes me nervous
kudos man -
If flashing the bios hasn't shown any significant improvement it's definitely not worth it. Until Scook recently got the higher scores it wasn't proving to be any advantage at all. Also Scook has proven you don't need the high CPU freq to get 12K on the GPU. Now you have no excuses.
Back to work for you!
-
what clocks did scook use for get over 12k gpu score?
-
Looks like 680|1075|1700
LINK -
yeah i think thats very similar to what i was running when i hit 11897
when we get the unlocked bios i will have another go until then i will let it rest

3180 MHz on the QX9300
See the FM link for the GPU clocks
I have the voltage in BIOS set to 1.07 volts but unsure if I am realizing that. Anyone know of what the actual limitation of what the circuitry can provide is? Also, at what voltages should we be worrying about electron migration and damaging the actual GPU? (Looking at you here John haha)
Been running 1.07 volts for a while now and seeing no adverse effects and the temps are very manageable (mid 60's after multiple vantage runs - with a cryo LX)
For what it is worth, bumping to 1.07 from 1.06 seemed to add stability to my GPU OC so I think it IS working. -
Sook that can't be true check the clocks I was runnin at stock 1v
@ pman
if you ain't first ur last
I don't like looseing
-
they can handle up to like 1.15 - 1.2 volts with cooling
mr moo:
you we're running at 1.0 and moved up to 1.03
unless of course you change the voltage table entry -
Either way the extra v didn't stabalize it since I oc'd alotttt more on it . He did start with the same vbios as me
-
hard to say in your case moo...your cards are base on how the 9800m gts worked and not how the 9800m gt/gtx's
the 9800m gts was a better over clocker, but it still didn't out do the gtx's due to only having 64 sp's. not sure what the offset is between the 260/280's are now.
personal opinion - i would rather have a lower over clocker with better scores than have a great over clocker with lower scores... this was why i shook the gateways for a np9262.... way back when. -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
what john said haha
That 1.2 V speculation, is that without damaging the actual die at all? I mean damaging the silicon due to the electric fields generated by that voltage, not due to the heat
And Moo, the voltage bump definitely helped me on stability. Guess you are lucky if you got those clocks without it. I am still happy with my end result

you forgetting that even if the card can support 10v. it is limited to the mxm port of only given it 75w of power. it's not a desktop were the gpu is separtly powered from the psu and not the mobo.
-
i would not advise it. that would be more along moo's lines since he has extra cooling. and then i still wouldn't advise it...start at something like where you are. go up to 1.1v everything here is based off of temps. heat is the enemy. keep the heat down, you can up the volts. keep the gpus under 50'c and you can go allot higher in fps if you mess wiht the system settings long enough.
yeah...that's not entirely true...
your gpus can put out more than 75 watts if given more juice. probably up to abut 85 90. way to hard to say the exact number with out measuring. but know this...my system when over clocked cranked out 310 watts on a 220 watt power adapter. (np9262) and remember. i can't over clock my cpu. -
That is an awesome point don.
Sometimes I forget about issues like that with laptops.... -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
no i'm not saying the gpu it self, i'm talking about the slot that powers it.
as for your clevo, did you test it out with using a kill-a-watt?
there was some test done and at full load, the Qx9650 only draw a max of 55w stocked. how true was that? i'm not sure. but that would explain why your computer wasn't unstable due to to much power being taken from your PowerBrick.
thanks sleey0 -
What is the max memory speeds/bandwith of MXMIII?
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
i'm not sure. i have a .pdf on all th mxm thanks from scook9 but it's on my external.
-
Does the M17x's BIOS have voltage options? (I couldn't find any)
-
no .............
-
i tested it with a kill-o-watt and 3 separate ups battery backups with kill o watt meters
i tested it at full load / half load /no load
at stock it draws 43 watt's and at max it draws 147 watts.(according to everest and hwinfo) (cpu was rated at 130 max)
so cant tell who is right here.
when i ran the cpu test only.165 watts
when i ran the cpu test only 259 to 310 watts over clocked
at idle in it was in double digit numbers somewhere between 40 to 80. not really sure. -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Ok then I can say that the info I had on it was wrong. It didn't make sense to me that that monster was only drawing 55w. I know that's a desktop cpu. With a tdp of 130w. I remember when the np9262 came out sager sound not to put that cpu in there because of the power it comsumed. Lol.
I did some research on it because I was interested on building a cheap desktop with a monster cpu.(in that article, they claimed it hit 4.65ghz on water I believe) -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
I sent you an email on it. If you can post it that would be great. (copy and paste in coming out with webos 1.2)
-
i wish mine did that low!
...well...it actually did...if i left speed step and c1e on. it would drop the speed down to like 2 ghz and voltage down to .0965
gonna look around for some of my old numbers on the whole thing.
