Here's a newer Vantage run, Dox 182.46 680/1700/1075, Q9200 @ 2.8Ghz (as high as this particular chip goes).

Nice score Crylo .

Thanks, but it still seems low to me considering people putting up 12k. The only real difference between my scores and the guys with 12K+ are 16 sp's and 380Mhz, I was thinking I would at least get to 11.5.
-
You might hit 11.5 k if you just keep looping vantage over and over . Depends how bad you want that score i guess
. What temps are your GPUs hitting with that score ?.
-

Not badly enough, I'm doing this for the guys here who want to see benchmarks with my particular config, personally I'd rather be playing than benchmarking, I'm just doing my part.
My GPU's were max 64c. -
Well you have already proven the 260s are more then capable so get back to gaming i say
.
-
Yep.
Those scores are very good so go enjoy!
-
Scook should be hearing some foot steps right about now.
I tried overvolting my cards but the result was increased stuttering. I went back to default and my runs are slowly improving. -

Lol it's seems that someone isn't happy with being number two.
-
So I have yet to see any stuttering effect on my set up... Is there anything in particular I need to do in order to bring it out?
-
Like you wouldn't be doing the same thing I am.
High GPU clocks, anything that will add extra heat. -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
who me?
Good luck. Let us know your progress as you go. -
I've reach new overall high scores multiple times today. Just my highest GPU score so far is in the 11970s. I need to bump that up about another 100 points.
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Ok ok nice. Are you trying new drivers or your original that you hit 12k with?
-
Nope. I've never had any luck in changing drivers with Vantage. 3DMark06 is another story.
-
I bumped my GPU to 700/1100/1800 and it never stuttered at all that I could see, it just eventually froze my system and I had to reboot lol.
-
I think it's been seen only on the QX9300 procs that have been OC'ed above 3Ghz.
-
I could have sworn people with Q9000s were reporting it too because I was contemplating giving up the Microcenter deal and getting a dualcore direct through Dell because of it.
-
I remember Crylo talking about it with his Q9200 and he saw it in games. I believe he just changed his driver to fix it.

like I said Mandrake,
If you aint first, your last haha
I am happy to see others pushing their scores up as well. You have more of a budget than I do to work with so lets see it! (mainly referring to Ram stuff, I REALLY want that DDR3-1600 set that is CAS 7......that beats my dominator ram in desktop lol) Although CPU scores seem to like me hehe
I may be tempted to try this higher voltage stuff (near 1.1V) that Johnksss mentioned but will wait for now. I do not want to burn these cards...they already make me happy
The main room for improvement Ican think of will obviously be drivers and as the 190 series becomes good to go for laptops I will have to throw myself into the arena again
For now I see myself dabbling in 06 some just to get a mid 17k score and then working on this senior year of electrical engineering thing.....it just keeps getting harder haha -
You can have OC'ing the M17x as a senior project!...lol
Regarding the 06 score. I hit 16.8K before even touching the GPUs...something to shoot for. -
It seems like 06 is a lot more punishing with CPU scores than Vantage. I only got 12.7k in 06 running 1285 FSB and RAM and 680/950/1700 while in Vantage, I got 12.1k with the same settings.
What drivers are you using Mandrake? I'm using the official 186.81 from nVidia. -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Your not going to get high scores with your cpu
My whitebook stocked got 12.500 -
Yeah, it seems like 06 weighs the CPU a lot more than Vantage does.
-
Dox 182.46 for Vantage and BatBoy's drivers for 06. The 182.46 drivers also do well in 06.
-
Yes, 16.6K was the highest with my x9100 even though I was running at 3.5Ghz.
-
Aristotelhs2060 Notebook Virtuoso
i had reached 16300 with the qx9300 at 3.125 ghz without gpu overclock. i have never overclocked them since i got my machine. i dont know if this needed at all? do you see notable increase of fps in games?
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
I will play around with 06 later and try to get it up there, as my sig indicates, I got 16.5k as it is with no tweaks in 3d settings for the program
Sadly today is a homework day -
Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
I don't have homework days. I just do my homework at the last minute and still get nearly straight A's in all my classes.
-
now take those str8 A's you got and put them to good use...like finding a fix to get over the 12.5 gpu hump...
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
not many people get straight A's in my major haha....if they are, they shouldn't be at my school but a better one
-
Danm right. I just got my EE degree last May and it was damn hard. Very few people I know got all A's and they are never easy. Just thought id put in my 2 cents.
Oh and to make this post relevant in some small way I am going to buy an M17x this week. -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
haha, congrats on the purchase and the degree
I graduate in May (at least that is the plan) -

So I played around with a couple different drivers and the EVGA precision tool. Neither it or GPU-Z report the GPU voltage at all. I have heard that Everest can show the GPU voltage but have not been able to run it properly on my machine, this is probably driver/hardware related just like GPU-Z though so I am not hopeful
Anyone know of any other ways besides a multimeter for verifying GPU voltage on a laptop? -
have you tried the beta version of everest?
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
ya that is what I tried, it complained about digital driver signing
but I suspect that it draws the info via driver like GPU-Z would -
now that i think about it..gpuz never read the voltage off of a mobile card.
it seems to be quite a task getting a true voltage read. -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
That is the impression I am getting. It sucks that everyone locks down laptops so dam tight.....enthusiasts use them too damit!
-
well, if you can't over clock any higher...then it's not working. or the increase isn't enough or you can't really unlock the voltage table of the card or it takes a bit more to get it to work...quite a few variables in there..
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
I just want to see if the changes being made are actually taking effect.....or if there is some vdroop like with cpu's - the difference between what is set and what is reported that is
-
same thing we have been wanting since june of last year...so your not alone.
-

So I guess the OCZ whitebooks started the shimmer of light for the enthusiast notebook users? That and the Clevo D900c
2 bada$$ notebooks that meant business in the desktop performance area
I liked my whitebook alot, I like my M17x that much more
This laptop stomps my first desktop (8800 GTS G92 and Q9450) -
sort of why i have a desktop right now. i out grew the power of the laptop and needed far more than i could get from one.
-
That EVGA Tool works with M17x?
-
Here an important thing to overvolting and the VID Levels:

My goal for today was to break 17k, but just couldn't get there. Here is the screanshot of my best score, just 12 points shy. Hey Mandrake, what drivers are you using again?

For 06 I used BatBoy's drivers.
-
scook your score over 120'000 on gpu mate, i want those cards!
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
hehe, I actually got one that is 6 points higher, but didnt bother submitting because overall was lower than my current score
I got a screenie of it on other hard drive I will get up at some point -
He's teasing because you have an extra '0' in your sig.
