me too. I'm always changing configs on crysis to see if i could make it run any better. i'm always running different testes with other people's custom configs. so far, i've found a few decent ones for crysis and crysis warhead. i use my laptop like a desktop. it is always hooked up to a 42in 1080p tv and sometimes i hook up a 52in.

i don't watch tv(as in cable). everything i watch i download/ stream and use my laptop to watch it. playing games with AA on and off, i still see no real difference at 1920x1080p. I've taken screen caps with FRAPS with 16AA and none. it looks exactly the same. i'm talking about the newer games though. games like FF7 and FF8 i can see how much impact AA would make.

I will never be ready for 8 as it will never be cheap enough. Ya the latencies excite me, I really wish the DDR3-1600 kit with CAS 7 came as NON xmp though, would have got that

It is also kind of annoying that none of these ddr3 kits exist on kingstons website at all lol

    extreme memory profile

It is similar to the SPD settings that all RAM have but goes beyond the JDEC standards. It is for use by Intel chipsets only (nvidia calls the same thing EPP - Enhanced Performance Profiles - on their SLI chipsets)

For laptops it is a comletely retarded move as none of them can utilize it and is a real let down that kingston seems to love it so much.....when they could sell the same ram with the SPD loaded for that higher performance and not have to do the XMP BS

Finally got my M17x on 09/09/09 :) So far all I can say is wow, this laptop is simply awesome.

Here's my first run of Vantage after installing the 186.81 drivers and the A02 Bios. Other than that it's all default, no OC and all processes running (including AV)

    http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dmv=1402610

I'll be running some more tests before I OC.

do a run (and really all the rest you ever do) with PPU disabled or physx off in the nvidia driver

Those will give an honest CPU score and be comparable to our posted results

Great GPU score for stock though!

    physics processing unit

It is pretty much when your GPU is processing physics and not you CPU, but it still adds to your CPU score, thus the VERY high number (recored is low 13k for CPU on notebook I believe). It artificially boosts scores

Here are the results for the SSD RAID 0 Configuration, while not overly impressive it does perform 100% better than my RAID 0 with 10k Raptors.... and that's not bad.

I still have a lot to tweek on these SSD, I'm sure I can sqeeze at least 30% of better performance once I run SSD Tweeker.

With all these numbers I have to say I am very impressed with the real time feel, I would honestly say it is fast

WARNING TO ANYONE LOOKING TO OVERVOLT THE GPUs

I noticed this yesterday and now it happenes everytime that I boot my machine...as soon as I get to the desktop my screen goes crazy as shown here

    View My Video

Would love for this to be a driver issue....but that would make absolutely no sense. I am thinking I may have fried something (temps never got bad but maybe the voltage was a bit much?)

Extremely open to any ideas.....and this happens with integrated on or off

The video doesnt show it well, but the screen is flickering alot

I dont think that has anything to do with voltage increase... some vid dll got corrupted or something... do a system restore and see if it's still there...

Yeah if you are using NST which I'm 100% positive you are, by how your display looks in that vid, uninstall it, and your problem will be fixed. I also had this happen to me, only happens to me with NST 6.02.

I am using NST 6.02 to OC my GPUs as recommended in the noob overclocking guide. Is there a more recent (or older) version of NST I should use instead?

Nope not broken at all... it should be averaging about 250-280 max with two samsung drives.... clearly those readings you have there are a different setup not an M17x

yes, clearly a different setup..mater of fact...a slower and out dated one at that. a sager d901c.

if that's all your getting....i would have sent them drives back..(personal opinion)

    edit:
mr moo has the same drives i do, but in the 30 gig size. and they seem to still be faster than yours. in the same machine.

Do you always make rushed decicions like that? ;) relax let me tweek/update my drives, like I said they are underperforming but they are faster than anything I've had... I dont care who's faster or slower i was just sharing my results. I'll keep the drives (personal opinion)

I am still too cheap for ssd's as they add nothing to my benchmark or gaming experience (not counting pcmark vantage because no one has given it to me for free with a product yet haha)

Come Windows 7 time, I will reload everything onto RAID 0 WD3200bekt drives

why is it..people always assume you need to calm down for, when pointing out the obiovious?
    rush decisions huh...that's a good one...lol
i have benched about 5 types of ssd's..nothing rushed here my friend.
my comment was just that...to say something is wrong with yours. sounds like you made a rush return comment without knowing what i know. :)

    http://www.laptopmag.com/review/storage/samsung-ssd-256GB.aspx

says you should be around 230 read/175 write for one drive. unless of course you don't have samsung drives that is...
and what tweaking? there is no real tweaking of ssd's..either work or they don't or you do a firmware update. and you can take a chance with enable write cache, but if your system fails...possible data corruption.

    scook9

ssd's have come down allot. you can afford them now. just dont get the wrong brand or you'll have that stupid stuttering/slow downs/ 10 to 30 second pauses and sometimes longer...
faster load times of games/apllications/web surfing/booting up and my personal favorite...lol...jane nash! she is about 10 times faster when loading

Can you run ATTO and post the results? I am curious because your RAID setup is about the perormance of one of the samsung drives.

Maybe your not in RAID 0? Or maybe the nvidia RAID software sucks?

Whatever just didn't feel you were in to add anything positive, my apologies if you were.
I do have the Samsung PM800 and I would be surprised if there's something wrong witht he Stripe... my 280M SLI came with a sucky 7500 marks from factory and was able to go near 1100 just by simply updating drivers/bios.... perhaps I need to do the same with the NVraid? That's my point I wont get all bent out of shape because my performance isn't there 48 hrs after I got the laptop, I'm sure if there's something odd it'll be fixed.

I was under the impression that there is a ton of things you can tweak to improve SSD speed.... Indexing service, system restore off, large system cache, disabling 8.3 file names, disabling boot trace, windows prefetcher and windows vista superfetch are some of the things that will improve performance... is this info wrong??

In any event share some ideas you think could improve the performance to what it should be? :) From what I read the actual transfer speeds of the Samsung on RAID 0 don't really double but more like 30-40% at best....

But the rated speed for 1 PB-22J/PM800 is 220/200.

You should be getting better numbers than what you currently have.

Post the ATTO benchmark if you want. Get it here.

I would want/need to have 2x 128 gb in raid 0 at least so cost is a factor for me, as that is around 700 for 2 p128's or something comparable (samsung controller)

128gb alone just ain't enough for me
