Ya that CPU score will be my hurdle as you are getting a higher OC than me out by 100 MHz (unless I figure out how to raise mine some)

Looks like we both got our work set out before us :)

I only played once with over-volting so far. It made too many changes to the equation. I will try again sometime in the future. Until then all my runs are without changing the vbios.

I cant say for sure it is allowing me my clocks, but I guess it can't hurt?

I have not played with AC yet at all either ;) Just the Cryo and M17x built in cooling

Interestingly enough, popped open the BIOS on my desktop GTX 275 cards today, they run at 1.17 volts stock - so I would have to venture to guess that these notebook chips can take a lot more than the stock 1.0 volts and that they are only limited for heat reasons

This is where you come in Johnksss and lend some advice. lol

funny thing about the cpu score...your gpu over clock can make or break your cpu score......
test one is based off of cpu over clock
test two is based off of gpu over clock.
even though both test are for the cpu.... :)

physics test is only based off of GPU oc if you are using PPU though......unless I am quite confused lol

I guess my strategy of having both CPU and GPU highly OC'd wont hurt anything though regardless ;)

Any thoughts on my voltage question??

    i tell you what.
someone had their cpu over clocked to 4.75ghz while mine was clocked at 4.6ghz
they scored 28,100 on cpu and i scored 28,550 on cpu. no physx for these scores.

    so you tell me....

and when i lowered the gpu over clock...the cpu score dropped.

don't you guys test these things?? or just run the test...walk away and then come back and hope for a spectacular run? rotflmao. at least that's what i did the first few times. notice it wasn't going over well, so i started watching.

about the voltage...that would be a very educated guess and i would venture to say yes..

to get his system back in over clock mode...lol

    great score!

but you guys better start trying to unlock the real power of these cards, because ichime just unlocked the 4870's and grabbed a 7k gpu score. and is working on getting it working in crossfire.

So that problem with the screen freaking out happened again, reloaded both the AV and the video driver

Put in 186.24 instead of 186.81 on the nvidia drivers just to see if that was it, and loaded a different version of Symantec Endpoint (one that does not include the file system protection) so hopefully it is good to go now. Desktop has bee fine for months with the current version of the AV that I have

    all cables are snug

and it will happen repetitively until I uninstall the video driver and reinstall

I am fairly certain it is a software issue

you know, i did over look one thing though...and that was this wiper.exe command.
you got me to thinking so i went back and retested my drives...som had slowed a considerable amount to their first run test. 230 mb reads had dropped to 150 mb reads. so what i did was run the wiper.exe program and it reclaimed my drives. now that are good as the day i bought them. thanks for wake me up to rechecking them.!

hahaha, and the chiller you see right next to it is now twice that size in width.(my new chiller)
and if you raise your monitor fully up, the haf case is about 1 inch lower in the back or from the front of the case..dead even.
and the 32 bit thing...sometimes you have to try them all to find a common ground to a problem or a reason why that isn't part of the problem... :)
im runing 32 bit win7 now, because PR was having major issues.

my latest annoyance is that what was a great and stable GPU oc (680 core) now isn't stable at all....I think I am growing weary of benchmarking.....I need to just enjoy this machine some...maybe I will re-address this in a couple weeks

I had oc'd my 280 in win7 and ran vantage. Everything was good and got good results. After a reboot, it locked up my system right when my desktop appeared.

I had to uninstall every piece of nvidia video software (driverr, nst, etc) and re-install in device manager.

I think what happened was I set my clocks to run at startup and it wasn't kosher. So, once everything was uninstalled it worked.

Dual Booting... yeah I remember those days. One day I saw the light and started using VirtualBox. Couldn't be happier ever since.

Unless you murder your other OS's with some heavy duty programming, etc, you might be better off not dual booting.

    Anyway, cheers for W7!
