his max overall will fall like the one before it!
there went my life for the next week haha - DAM MY EGO!

I was only 9 points off my high GPU. Just need to keep tweaking.
-
ain't it fun?
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
Ya that CPU score will be my hurdle as you are getting a higher OC than me out by 100 MHz (unless I figure out how to raise mine some)
Looks like we both got our work set out before us

i'm just a spectator.

I only played once with over-volting so far. It made too many changes to the equation. I will try again sometime in the future. Until then all my runs are without changing the vbios.
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
I cant say for sure it is allowing me my clocks, but I guess it can't hurt?
I have not played with AC yet at all either
Just the Cryo and M17x built in cooling
Interestingly enough, popped open the BIOS on my desktop GTX 275 cards today, they run at 1.17 volts stock - so I would have to venture to guess that these notebook chips can take a lot more than the stock 1.0 volts and that they are only limited for heat reasons
This is where you come in Johnksss and lend some advice. lol -
funny thing about the cpu score...your gpu over clock can make or break your cpu score......
test one is based off of cpu over clock
test two is based off of gpu over clock.
even though both test are for the cpu....
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
physics test is only based off of GPU oc if you are using PPU though......unless I am quite confused lol
I guess my strategy of having both CPU and GPU highly OC'd wont hurt anything though regardless
Any thoughts on my voltage question?? -
i tell you what.
someone had their cpu over clocked to 4.75ghz while mine was clocked at 4.6ghz
they scored 28,100 on cpu and i scored 28,550 on cpu. no physx for these scores.
so you tell me....
and when i lowered the gpu over clock...the cpu score dropped.
don't you guys test these things?? or just run the test...walk away and then come back and hope for a spectacular run? rotflmao. at least that's what i did the first few times. notice it wasn't going over well, so i started watching.
about the voltage...that would be a very educated guess and i would venture to say yes.. -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
yes with my whitebook and vantage i did notice my cpu would drop when i pushed the gpu. but i never really focused vice-versa.......
-
I put numbers up on a dart board representing different clocks scattered throughout and start throwing darts....very scientific.
-
Scook is going to hate my next posting...
-
High CPU, GPU and overall score in one single run...
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
he was hating so much, he signed off.
-
Wow very nice Drake. Don your gonna have your work cut out for you that's for sure
Not that you will mind though.
-
to get his system back in over clock mode...lol
great score!
but you guys better start trying to unlock the real power of these cards, because ichime just unlocked the 4870's and grabbed a 7k gpu score. and is working on getting it working in crossfire. -
Do you have a thread where he's posting?
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Nope i don't mind at all.
but seeing all this action is making me itch..... -
Yeah you need to scratch that itch soon i hope.
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
i'm trying to but it's still there.
i have to look at other alternatives for this situation lol. -
We just need to score as high as we can before Don gets his.
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
very impressive Mandrake....
Guess I really have my work cut out for me now
(Need to get that dam CPU oc up some how!)
-
P12.5K is the next goal.

cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
well naturally!

So that problem with the screen freaking out happened again, reloaded both the AV and the video driver
Put in 186.24 instead of 186.81 on the nvidia drivers just to see if that was it, and loaded a different version of Symantec Endpoint (one that does not include the file system protection) so hopefully it is good to go now. Desktop has bee fine for months with the current version of the AV that I have -
Are you sure you don't have a loose video cable? Can you reproduce the problem?
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
all cables are snug
and it will happen repetitively until I uninstall the video driver and reinstall
I am fairly certain it is a software issue -
does it happen after the uninstall or just randomly? Now I'm thinking NST. Did you try different versions?
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
It may be NST. I dont ever use it though, it is loaded but I don't use. 6.02 is installed though
-
what happens if you run 32 bit?
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
32 bit windows? No idea....aint used it in about 3 years.....
the problem seems to have stopped now though.... -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
dam....now that I know what your monitor is john, that HAF932 is a HUGE case....I originally thought that was a 22" haha
-
you know, i did over look one thing though...and that was this wiper.exe command.
you got me to thinking so i went back and retested my drives...som had slowed a considerable amount to their first run test. 230 mb reads had dropped to 150 mb reads. so what i did was run the wiper.exe program and it reclaimed my drives. now that are good as the day i bought them. thanks for wake me up to rechecking them.!
hahaha, and the chiller you see right next to it is now twice that size in width.(my new chiller)
and if you raise your monitor fully up, the haf case is about 1 inch lower in the back or from the front of the case..dead even.
and the 32 bit thing...sometimes you have to try them all to find a common ground to a problem or a reason why that isn't part of the problem...
im runing 32 bit win7 now, because PR was having major issues. -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
what's PR????
Puerto Rican???? -
project reality mod for battle field 2
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Oh lol. I was off by alittle.
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
Well it seems to all be playing nice now, like i said, the version I have of EndPoint on laptop now is the same one I have had on my desktop for months with nvidia drivers and 0 problems there, so i think I am probably safe now
That and I do not have all the time in the world for these things (reinstalls take time!) -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
my latest annoyance is that what was a great and stable GPU oc (680 core) now isn't stable at all....I think I am growing weary of benchmarking.....I need to just enjoy this machine some...maybe I will re-address this in a couple weeks
-
You have finally seen the light! lol
Nah, just enjoy your system, scook
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
just isn't worth the frustration....
I don't have a bad score as it is (was nice when I had the best but knew that was temporary haha) -
Does it matter?
Seriously. What if your scores weren't up to par with mandrake's, yet your system was running anything you throw at it flawlessly?
You'd still be happy, right? -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
right now it is having trouble running windows flawlessly....getting that flashing screen problem again now
I will note though that it is only happening in Vista, was fine all day in Win 7 -
Did you reinstall or are you dual booting?
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
dual booting
it has now happened with multiple AV program versions as well as different video driver versions
-
Dump Vista. Problem solved.
-
I had oc'd my 280 in win7 and ran vantage. Everything was good and got good results. After a reboot, it locked up my system right when my desktop appeared.
I had to uninstall every piece of nvidia video software (driverr, nst, etc) and re-install in device manager.
I think what happened was I set my clocks to run at startup and it wasn't kosher. So, once everything was uninstalled it worked. -
did you install all the vista updates?
-
Dual Booting... yeah I remember those days. One day I saw the light and started using VirtualBox. Couldn't be happier ever since.
Unless you murder your other OS's with some heavy duty programming, etc, you might be better off not dual booting.
Anyway, cheers for W7!
