IT'S HERE YEEAAH! RGB LED just as predicted! It hasn't hit the EPP site yet so I'm not going to order until it does. 10% is a lot of savings.

And they kept, the 1920x1200! :)

This may very well be my next laptop. As it's the only one to meet my stringent requirements (1920x1200, dual HDD's, MXM 3.0B, BIOS overclocking, mobile I7, etc).

The 5870 isn't much faster than the 4870 so who cares. The fact that they kept a 16:10 ratio makes me extremely happy. I hate 16:9 screens.

I heard the 5870 is a overclocked version of the 4870 :s Either way i am extremely happy they kept the 16:10 screen too along with the new screen and etc. I might have to bite the bullet and call Dell/AW tommorrow and ask if they can call Dell/AW america and ask them to ship me one over. Lol I doubt they would But they might.

I could buy/ship you one but you'd have to pay me for my services ;) (I sound like a prostitute there haha). The 5870 is a 128 bit card on steroids so it barely beats a 4870 which is a 256 bit card with GDDR 3 ram. The only reason the 5870 is faster is because of the GDDR5 memory and slightly updated core.

GDDR5 5870s arent ready to ship. Simple as that. They'll update the spec to 5870 when they are actually available, instead of taking a bunch of orders now and having to sit on them for two months.

No Blu-Ray and the screen is still 1900x1200...bummer

Is this the first 1900x1200 RGBLED? Also looks like there is an option for an Intel 6300.

Why are you bummed about the 16:10? M6500 uses the same RGB LED display, you can check out their owner's thread for pictures. It's a great display and the 16:10 ratio is something you miss after using wide 16:9 gimmick displays.

Gives it a smaller feel which I prefer. No biggie. Don't see complete care warranty either. I don't think their done updating the site yet.

Considering they are the same price, what would be faster in games - the i7 620M or the 720QM?

It's there but they named it "advanced" warranty now, it's retarded and confusing. Plus they took out the 2 year option to get more money out of people..lame.

Depends on what games you play. In quad core games, the i720 will easily beat the 620 and in dual core, the 620M will win.

They don't say what type of 250 SSD they are using. O00Obber expensive. Don't see them any cheaper online either. Stick with the 128 for now?

The 256 SSD is likely Samsung. It's a nice drive but I'd personally stick with 1TB Raid unless you absolutely must have an SSD. I've got the 256GB SSD right now and I'm missing the extra space. You could always get the SSD as the main drive + 500 GB as secondary.

Personally, if I could find a buyer for my current M17x, I'd get this refresh in a 2nd. Mostly coz the i7 is not old - so may be possible to upgrade in the future. Also, the RGBLED which will hopefully not have the auto-dimming feature, which is impossible to turn off. (I'm referring to the screen changing brightness depending on content, which is just stupid: majority-dark content makes the screen dimmer and majority-light content makes it brighter). So games like L4D become too dark in dark areas and normal in the light areas. I'd prefer real-contrast rather than dimming/lighting the whole screen. And yes, I know that the current M17x has one of the best contrasts laptops can have.

Oh the temptation of credit... Is the 920 worth it? Or would I be just as happy OC the 820?

We do not know if there are any OC'ing capabilities available with the refreshed version of this system.

Your net will only be as fast as your slowest point. That WILL be your ISP because there is no way it will go 450Mbps. If you plan on doing HD streaming wirelessly thoughout the house and have a router that can support it then that would be the advantage of the 6300. Since the upgrade is only $60 I would do it anyway.
