DX11? I can only name a few games off the top of my head with DX10. Are they not getting a head of themselves here?

Yeah the tech is always way ahead of the actual games ... The 4870s will be amazing cards for sometime to come as the adoption rate for DX11 will still take along time before it becomes standard and the developers will still need to support DX9-10/10.1 etc ... Maybe a year to a year and a half from now DX11 titles will become something of the norm because the uptake to DX11 is supposed to come faster but ill believe it when i see it ... For now it just sounds good on paper and nothing more...

Those are all primarily DX9 titles with some DX10 sprinkled on top save for GRID2 which should have full DX11 support like DIRT2 does...

Oh come on... They used to charge $900 for the M15X Core i7 920XM, now they're charging $1000 for the same processor on both M15X and M17X?
    Not very nice =(

To be honest, even if they where fully supported, I wouldn't buy a DX11 card for 6 games. 1 of which I would only buy :p (HL2)

Dave could you comment on the black levels of the screen? My 1080p RGBLED screens have all had quite bad backlight bleed.

on my M6400 the RGB LED screen has been perfect.

The black levels are great, I found no leakage on mine what so ever.

So the big question is what RGB LED screen are they going to use, after all not all of them are the same

Is anybody familiar with what the service options are? What's the difference between the 3 year basic service, 3 year advanced service and the 3 year premium service? I can't seem to find any additional info on Dell's site.

    That's good to hear Dave.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought Dell only use Samsung RGBLEDs (1080p and 1200p)?

So far Samsung is the only supplier that I know of for 17.3" RGB LED so it will probably be the same display as the M6400/M6500.

i7-620M all the way. The i7-720QM should only get significantly faster when you're taxing more than 4 cores pretty hard by running several apps at once. If you're running WoW, Vent, and some low resource background apps the i7-620M is better.

If the M17x supports it you'll also get to keep switchable graphics with the i7-620M.

I'm going to get the i7 extreme processor, is that the best? :D

Omg I can't believe its here!

I just need to wait until 11am california time to order mine to the UK :D

A bit dissapointed about the gpus but who cares, at least the refresh has arrived! Anybody know if the gpu will be upgradable in the future (you can manually switch the gpus) to say, a 5870 cf?)

In true half-***** Dell style, the UK site lists them M17x with I7 on the front page...then promptly directs you to the C2D/Q version :D

Question - I just received my M17x as a replacement (QX9300, 260m SLI) for my busted M1730. Anyone tell me 1) if there is an upgrade option with the Alienware line (or would the 21 day window apply to me? doubt it) - I would be happy to pay the difference in $ for the upgrade - if 2) it's really worth it to go to the i7 extreme and 4870 SLI with the LED screen.

After configuring a system with same options except as outlines above, it's about $300 more than my current configuration.

I'm also an M1730 upgrade... The way I see it, very minimal impact on gaming, and a big upgrade as it was from our M1730 but you can always call them back and try - ask if it's possible ..

You're going to have to talk with Dell for your questions since it's a replacement. I guess it depends on what you negotiated with them.

It's up to Dell to add support for the cards. The bigger issue is cost because it normally costs a lot more to just buy the cards.
